Fried Pickles (Frickles) -- Ever have them?

Had a chance to try them last night while out with the crowd.  They're different.....if you like salt & grease.  They sounded pretty odd until I tried the first one & found that it wasn't that bad.  They were pickle chips coated in a light, crispy batter.

    Anyone ever have them?

I've made fried dill pickles before.  Didn't really care for them, cuz I'm not really into dills, but everyone else liked them.  Maybe next time I'll try it with sweet pickles.

Yep, I've had them.  I love dill pickles, but I didn't particularly love fried ones.  I prefer a cold, crunchy pickle.

These were the dill slices, not the sweet.  It's not something I'd try to make at home, or even order again at a restaurant.  Someone in the group was brave & ordered them, and the plate got passed around for others to try.  So now I can say I've had frickles.  Smile

I have had them and love them...the kind I had were fried in a batter and then we dipped them in ranch dressing. Very good that way! I don't think I would care for them just plain without the dip.

Also, the kind I had were deep fried spears, not chips....but a dill is a dill.

Doesn't cooking them remove all of the crunch?  Doesnt' sound like something I'd like.

We had the dill slices when we went out with DH's family in Louisville, I didn't think i would like them but they were good.

LF, they weren't soggy at all, nice & crunchy.

The outside was crispy but the pickle slice itself had softened up, at least on the ones I had.

All that fried stuff just sounds gross and fattening to me.  I have a cranky gallbladder so it limits me from eating most fried foods.  I used to LOVE fried zuccini dipped in ranch dressing washed down with an ice cold Pepsi...those were the days...

It is, but I can sneak something down like that once in a lifetime & feel no consequences!  I just had bloodwork done this morning, so if there's any grease still circulating, I'll soon know.   Big Smile

I never would have eaten them if someone else hadn't ordered them & told everyone to try them.  I had a Cobb salad for dinner, fat-free dressing!  Geeked

    I love Dill Pickles!

I never had them fried, but would like to try them!

A little lemon juice dabbed on them will lighten them right up, Summer.  Wink

Once in a while is no big deal on "gross and fattening" stuff, huh?  A girl has got to live!!!I am a chocolate chip cookie person myself!!!  Just not deep fried!
