    Ina Garten...Barefoot Contessa

I just watched her for the first time...and nearly fell asleep from her soft drone of a voice.  No personality at all, IMO!  She bored me to death!

Right before her, I watched Giada and I liked her way more!  She's enthusiastic and makes you want to taste the food!

So, what's so special about Ina?  Anybody like her for one reason or another?  She smiles nicely, but she seems like she's sleepwalking.

Actually, I enjoy Ina Garten's Barefoot Contessa show...and I also enjoy Giada's show...though I watch the former more than the latter.

Ina is an excellent chef.  Think some might want to compare her to Martha Stewart, but she seems to be a much nicer person (and a lot less stuck up, if you know what I mean).  BTW, MS seems to have a drone of a voice also IMO.

Some days, I can literally see the testosterone floating in the air around here.

I really like Ina too.  Her voice is comforting.

Good thing there are plenty of other personalities on the channel.  You may like Alton Brown.  He's a real character.  I think coffee oozes from his pores.  lol.

I too like Ina.  Her show is a much different format.  If you notice, there's little or no music playing in the background.  She talks to you like you're sitting at her table watching her prepare your meal.

don't think there is anything "special" about her....but I do like her over Giada....maybe it's that she isn't so skinny.....LOL  and she cooks "fancier" foods but makes it look easy...

In 1978, Ina Garten found herself working in the White House on nuclear energy policy and thinking, "There's got to be more to life than this!" She saw an ad for a small food store for sale in a place she'd never been: the Hamptons at the end of Long Island. She and her husband drove up to investigate and made the owner an offer on the spot. Two months later she found herself the owner of Barefoot Contessa, a 400-sq. ft. specialty food store.

Twenty years later, Barefoot Contessa grew to a 3,000-square-foot food emporium where twenty cooks and bakers prepared the food. Twenty-five more employees worked in the store helping thousands of customers to choose breads, salads, dinners and baked goods to take home. In 1996, Ina sold the store to her employees. In 2003, the new owners of Barefoot Contessa decided to close their doors and go on to new adventures.

In 1999, Ina wrote her first book, The Barefoot Contessa Cookbook, which was one of the best-selling cookbooks of the year. The book invites readers into her specialty food store and shares the recipes that made it such a success. In 2001, Ina followed with best-selling Barefoot Contessa Parties! in which she invites readers into her home and shares her ideas and recipes for having parties that are fun for all - including the host. Her follow-up cookbooks, Barefoot Contessa Family Style (2002), Barefoot in Paris (2004), and Barefoot Contessa at Home (2006) all continue her style of cooking with easy, delicious, and foolproof recipes that you can make at home. Her newest book, Barefoot Contessa - Back to Basics will be published in October 2008. Her new series on Food Network - beginning in October, 2008 - will also be titled Barefoot Contessa - Back to Basics.

I like her style- her recipes and her calm demeanor...do watch her again...

Her laid back demeanor is exactly why I like her....and her boobs aren't hanging out all the time like a few of the others on F. N.    lol   She is a very experienced chef and I also like the fact that she isn't running around the kitchen like a chicken with it's head off in order to get the recipes prepared within 30 minutes. Her chocolate truffle recipe is to die for, and so easy to make. Give her another shot.

Wow, your perception of her is so different than mine. Ina effects me positively with her calmness, her quiet grace, her lack of gimmicks.  Her food is very approachable and not intimidating to contemplate doing. She is restful but not boring for me.

I am glad, however, that there are many other TV chef programs which are out there to watch.  Such a variety of formats and personalities for all to choose from is a "good thing", as Martha would say.

I enjoy her,she is easy to listen to. Her and sandra the semi homemade woman are both enjoyable. Paula is fun but the young gal who talks with her hands drives me up the wall to watch or listen to, gosh senior moment can't think of her name she also does a talk show.Like Martha, she is really good.I remember Rachel Ray. Sweet gal but her fast talk and constant arm and hand movement really bother me so don't watch her for long if I hit her while channel surfing.Any one remember the French Chef and the Gallopping gourmet, his first shows.

I also like Ina...she is so down-to-earth....even though she lives in the Hamptons, she seems like ordinary folk.  She talks to you, not at you.

I'm watching Alton Brown now and I love him...I really learn things from him.  I also like Bobby Flay in all his shows and Guy Fieri.  I guess I like people with a little life to them.  I like Paula when she's not around men!  LOL  She's nuts when there's a man around.

Alton is making sushi now.  He looked cute in his wig and kimono.  I like him as the spokesman on Iron Chef America.

I also really like Sandra Lee.
