Well, it's been a long time since I was out in the work world!  I believe, for starters, you must be employed full time to recieve any of these stat pays.  And I'm not sure if there is a minimum days worked till you start being able to recieve stat pay.  It may coincide with the time when you start getting your benefits.  I know a lot of companies try to hire people for just under 40 hours per week so that they don't have to pay these sort of benefits.

It's a point that is constantly argued and constantly changing. I took the Payroll administration courses, and am so certified, but even the teacher at that course told us that year by year, so many of the rules, such as this one, change, that only someone with an up-to-date labour taxation and payroll guide, or whatever they call it this year, would know. Your best bet to get a straight answer would be to contact your local MP's constituency office and ask them to check up on it, or ask them where you can check.

    Good Luck!

I know that here in NB, you have to work for a company 90 days before you get paid for a Stat holiday.  As well as work you scheduled shift, beofre and after the holiday.  You should be able to find the info on you province's Job Standard's web site.
