I am going to meet my future son-in-law tomorrow!!!

How exciting.  He arrived at my daughter's on Sunday - they will leave DC tomorrow morning about 9 a.m. and will arrive in Pennsylvania sometime around 4 p.m.  Am so excited.  Have talked to him twice on web cam, but it isn't the same as being in person.  I am making homemade ravioli for dinner with meatballs, salad (lettuce from the garden) and garlic toast.  Made cookies and have ice cream and cantelope or strawberries for desert.  We will visit Wednesday evening after dinner and then spend the whole next day showing him around our hometown.  There isn't a whole lot to see but we will show him where our daughter went to school and our downtown, we have a beautiful lake near us that we will also show him.  They will depart Friday morning, and did I say I am so excited.

Thanks for the good wishes.  You don't need to forgive that silly Cup thing - we kicked your butt (and I was so relieved - after game 6 I was worried).  We are the city of champions and it is  a fun thing to celebrate.  I am cleaning tomorrow and my husband is walking around saying "don't get crazy" - but how can you not.  I am so excited.  Maybe I will have grandchildren before I am too old to enjoy them.  Oh my daughters and their careers.  (Just kidding, am proud of them both and their careers).

The last I heard was February - but I really wouldn't be surprised if they call one day and say "we are married." My daughter will be 30 this year and is talking about a wedding in Hawaii.  Will hopefully find out more this visit.

I guess that right now you are enjoying the visit. Be sure to give us an update of how it went. My dd is also engaged and since they live in CA, we were so excited to meet him in person. I hope you are as happy about your dd's choice for a husband as we are.

We had a nice dinner, took them for a ride to show him the town and the garden.  My husband and I were really pleased.  He is a fine young man, someone who I think will challenge my daughter and that is a good thing (hope you know what I mean).  He does quality assurance for computers for a living and brought us a laptop - some other fen shwe things from Hong Kong, and he also showed us a slideshow from his hometown which included pictures of his parents and their dogs.  It was a wonderful evening, they left around 8:30 - they had a long drive and were dragging.  We are getting together tomorrow here for breakfast (making french toast, fruit and sausage) then we will hit the road for a day to Cook Forest and play minerature golf at a course we always did when we camped there and walk some trails.  Will have lunch at Tionesta a favorite restaurant of ours.  It will be a lot of driving through the country, but we were thrilled to meet him.  Nice fellow.  He and my husband hit it off wonderfully.

We had a wonderful day yesterday - they came for breakfast (I made french toast, fruit and juice).  Low key - good and fun conversation.  We then went to our local market house and he bought some local things for his parents.  Then we took off to the big woods where we hiked and visited places where we camped when the girls were young.  Ended up with a great mini golf match - what fun.  The rain cooperated - it rained around us the whole day.  After coming home and letting the dog out we then went to dinner and had a great time.  Came home and we played a board game he had brought from Germany (or should I say he and my daughter played and my husband and I watched).  They left - I was exhausted but thrilled with the visit.  They called a few hours ago letting me know they got into DC safely and I am content.  I wanted to thank all of you for your good wishes and letting me share my enjoyment.  It means a lot.

And by the way the dog loved him, so I think he got a good seal of approval from a good source.  Here is to future grandchildren.

    Thanks again, Janet

The Pens of course, he even called and congratulated us when we won the Cup.  WE WON THE CUP.  Thanks for asking.
