    Happy Canada Day from Downunder!

Embarrassed  Hi all, sorry I feel so bad for not posting for............ages, in fact I just became fed up with the computer, I would sit here in front of it and just go blank! not a good thing at all.

We have had a lot of interuptions, internet dropping out, storms already again today, so I switched off for till it went by, just good old wintry weather and so amazing to get real rain at long last.

I wish all you Canucks a very special day, will be thinking of you all and wishing I was there Sad

I have my Canadian flag out and wore my pins on my jacket today too! just to get into the spirit, it was cold enough to remind me of some of my time in Canada, a  nice icy wind blowing today to make it seem like I was there.

I have been busy and bored? does that make sense? lots of time with grandsons lately, long story there, but will  let you know how things pan out with them. Still busy knitting, did all the charity hats, now doing some for my sons and grandkids and a poncho for my little granddaughter too.

Aleida I will PM you, the postcard was a fantastic surprise and belated wishes to you and hubby on your 25th Anniversary.

Hi to all and enjoy your celebrations.

HAPPY CANADA DAY TO YOU ALL

I am up late so I am here early--LOL

yesterday was a nice day here- not too hot but we still missed getting the rain. I know that the farmers really need rain in this area of Alberta-

Not sure what I will do but we can go over to a museum to have some canada day celebrations and the weather report sounds good- I will check it out.

It is lonely doing things by one's self.........all I really knew about life was being a wife so now I have to learn to be me- as- a single- widow- lady. I think that is the hardest thing about grief-

have a wonderful day and good morning to all-

    HAPPY CANADA DAY

Canada is 142 years old, I appreciate this great country and lucky to be living here.  Canada is an awesome country from coast to coast.

I have to work today, was off yesterday, André is going to pick up our DGD and DGS for a couple of days.  They mean the world to me, he wants to take them fishing.

I have to get some stuff that kids eat ie: cereal, juice, munchies . DGS love kraft dinner, he could eat that everyday.

Lotte, great to see you back, I have been thinking and asking where you were? What is the temp. at your place? Have you had any snow yet?

Meme, it must be a huge adjustment, to being alone. My grandmother once said, "Even in a crowded room you still feel alone, without your DH".    I don't know what to say but give it more time.

    Have a great Canada Day,

HAPPY CANADA DAY Everyone.  Happy 142 th Birthday Canada.  I hope every Canadian has a fantastic day celebrating our special country.

DH and I will spend our day scrambling to try to get caught up.  Our bees will be ready to go into the fields next week and the fields need a lot of preparation to be ready for the bees.  The weather should be perfect and we'll be busy bees.

Way too many things happened while our internet had issues.  We will spend Friday at a funeral for the younger son of longtime friends.  He was killed in a traffic accident early Saturday morning.  It was a horrible shock.  The older son will be married in just a couple of weeks.  (This was the friend I had such a nice visit with only a couple of weeks ago.)

Have a safe day celebrating CANADA.         Pat

    Good morning CCers

Lotte so glad you visited.  It seems several people are having ----- problems -- don't want to come right out and say it 'cos it might jinx my own sweet baby -- gotta talk nicely to it.  Thanks for the belated wishes.  Did you finish the tiger?  Or no time with all that knitting that you are doing?  Keep coming back. Okay?

Hi Meme.  Hope you find something nice to do today with the celebrations.

Good morning Maria -- what a shame that you have to work.  What fun for Andre to take the kids fishing hope they catch the big one.  DH nd I took 3 nephews last year -- they caught lots but none big enough to keep -- but at least they were kept busy and so was DH with unhooking this and unhooking that -- 3 was really too many so they really had to watch what they were doing -- of course all wanted the spot in the water where the last fish was caught.  I think they had a good time -- too bad though 'cos it would have been cool to see them clean at least one -- LOL

Hello Pat.  Didn't know what a snipe was so I asked DH and he told me -- seems to think they can go by another name as well.  That is tragic about the poor boy being killed in the traffic accident.

Well I am relaxing for a bit and then I shall bathe and it will be almost time to go.  I baked butter tarts -- for the first time I tried my own pastry -- I don't do pastry -- but I AM going to learn.  And they don't taste too bad -- they certainly are not headed to the garbage -- but I will be keeping them home as they are not bake table worthy.  I also made a pan of espresso brownies -- another new recipe -- and they look good but I haven't tasted them yet -- those will go to the bake table -- so the job is to cut them and package them somehow -- don't like that job.  The ladies in charge of the bake table usually do that -- but they get so much stuff to do that I like to do my own so they are a wee bit less overwhelmed

our wee town of Washago does Canada Day in a big way -- hope the rain holds off -- begins with breakfast in the Lions Hall and some of the other things are ping pong competition, rock band competion, face paintin, food everywhere, parade , bike decorating contest (also all go in the parade) Kareoke, Parade, birthday cake, firewords tonight -- that is new -- and street vendors all along the street.  and more  but you get the idea. I'll have to check out some of the garage sale like vendors -- IF I have time

    enjoying my coffee now

    Happy celebrations to all

    hugs

    Aleida

Good morning and Happy Canada Day everyone,

Grey skies again today, but hoping the rain holds off for all the festivities.  Can't have the fireworks rained out!

Nothing much planned today.  Dh and I are possibly going to the movies this afternoon.  I want to see the new Ice Age movie.  If the rain holds off, we'll be going to the fireworks this evening.  Other than that, a quiet day.  I'm not really into the crowds and midway that they have set up in town.

My dr's appointment went well yesteday.  I was up 2 lbs (was down about a lb last week).  My OB is going to be on vacation for 2 weeks, the week that I am do.  So yesterday, he was going to set up appointments for incase I go past my due date.  He gave me 2 dates that I can pick to be induced, if needed.  Either the 24th or 27th (when he's back).  I hope I don't have to wait that long.  This little guy needs to start dropping, so he can get his feet out from under my lungs!

Lotte, Nice to "see" you.  Hope you're computer problems are all fixed.

YF, have fun with the grandkids.  Fishing sounds like fun!

Morning all...a lovely sunny morning here.

We are waiting for our ds#2 to arrive. He called last night and was just past Golden. He was wondering how long his drive would still be. We suggested he stop in Revelstoke, which he did. But I didn't know for sure..so was awake part of the night waiting for him and praying for him to have a safe trip. Just talked to him a while ago, and he should be here in just over an hour now.

Also talked to ds#1 and he told us that our dgs is in the hospital. Dil took him to the hospital in Lacombe because he was having trouble breathing, and they sent them into Red Deer. Turns out he has a good? case of croup!  So they kept him over night and he was doing better.

Not sure what the plans are around here. Was thinking the lawn needed mowing, but dh turned the sprinklers on, so there goes the mowing!

There are Canada Day activities in the park today...but too crowded for us usually..parking is at a premium too. So I don't think that we will go..have actually never been!

Maria, we are not camping this weekend. Just having ds home for a few days instead. Then we are going to head out to AB when he goes back..to see the rest.

Well, gotta go get in the shower. Hope that you all have a super Canada day!

Re: Happy Canada Day from Downunder!

Good morning!  happy Canada Day to all.  No big plans here.  Dan is working today, he will take Friday off, and we are going camping.  But I just found out last night, that most the sites where we were planning on camping are seasonal sites, which means you buy your site for the year.  So now I don't know what we will do, it's a long drive to go and not get a site.  There are some that are not reserved, but most of them are far from the lake, right near the TransCanada Hiway.

Our town doesn't do Canada Day, except for at the museum.  You can get pancake breakfast, hotdogs for lunch, some games.  I dont' know if the food is free or not, I know the cake in the afternoon is.  Our town goes ALL out for halloween instead.  I find that rather silly, but I must admit, a lot of fun come Oct!

Cathy, with my first, she didn't drop.  she played with my lungs the whole time, and I thought I was going to die!  My last appointment, my doctor figured it would be awhile yet, cause nothing was happening, she didn't even muddy the waters, as they call it.  Yet she was born two days later.  I hear it's common for the first one to not drop.  Good luck, you can do it!

EMC, oh, sorry to hear of the gs trip to the hospital.  I've never dealt with croup, but my neices and nephew often did, was never a fun time.

Need to hope into the shower.  Today I must get ready 100% for camping, as I am going to PG tomrowo to go grocery shoppping, come home, and leave for camping, phew!  Taht's gonna be tough to be this organized!  I didn't know this until last night.

I'm so happy to have tuned into CBC, I got to see a bit of the Canadian Day celebratons, wow, what great talent Canada has, and what a wonderful country we live in, I agree with Stephen Haper that this is the Best place on earth, however he put it.  Makes me so proud to be Canadian!

Gotta go weed the garden and thin the carrots.  This caught me by suprise, as it wasn't in my plans, as I'm getting ready to go camping.  Oh well, I absolutely thrive on stress, it's the only way to get things done.  See, I'm sitting here procrastinating!  Actually, the clothes are mostly packed, it's a matter of figuring out the meals (steak and hamburgers probably) and making supper, though we just had payday, and eating out is probably on our to-do list today!

Re: Happy Canada Day from Downunder!

Hi Meme, nice to see you on CC, I can understand how you feel, I have a friend in Ont. that lost her husband 14 months ago, we talk on the phone a lot, as she is soooooo lonely, I stayed with them for 3 months and he was a wonderful man who did all the outdoor chores at home and the cottages, so she has her hands full, but sadly, too many friends and family, 'forget' she is there and do not ask her along to meals, legion etc., being alone, as I know, seems to leave one out in the cold when it comes to socializing.

I am "hoping" that I can sort things out here and get back to Canada and spend more time with her, it would be "forever" if only I could find a way!

Sorry YF, I should try harder to post, as I said, I can sit here and no words come to mind, well, maybe they would come over as too negative, so I just don't say anything! I am lonely too and winter does not help as you all know.

NO!!!!! Sad I WISH it would snow where I live, it might get down to around zero and below on some nights, but on the coast we just don't see snow at all, the only places are the alpine areas in Vic. NSW and in Tasmania, we don't have very high or very many... mountains, so those small areas are the only places to see real snow and they are having a great season on the ski fields so far.

When I feel that icy wind here, I know they are getting snow all that far away, we never get told the wind chill, but I can tell you, after almost 50C in summer, that wind is sure cold, BUT!! I LOVE it. haha

Aleida, sorry, I think you had just left on your trip when I finished the Tiger and the Polar Bears, I will post again with the photos, when I can find them! Yes, I will keep coming in, I only wish I can be here same time as you all, I really could do with "real time friends"!  Big Smile

Hey Cathy, good luck with that baby, I am as excited as everyone else for you, my "baby" will be 30 on 21st!!

Waving to Char, emc, meesh, eva and pat, hope you all had a great day, best wishes to those south of the Canadian border for the 4th!!!

    Hugs Lotte

I walked down to our local canada day celebration- it was from 2 to 7- it was fun to watch- geared mostly for kids - in fact I only saw one lady that I knew - and I have lived here for 30  years- it was fun to watch others having fun and kids are so interesting in their wee ways.

some one did ask where I live and I live in Innisfail- Alberta- I meant to reply to the lady and now I forget who she was- she has a aunt in Innisfail-

poor Meme- always a day late--LOL
