CHICAGO (CBS) ―
Sears Tower
Close
Taking a trip to the Sears Tower Skydeck will now be even more of a vertigo-inducing experience. The media is getting a preview today. The new Sears Tower Ledge was unveiled on Wednesday. It will open to the public on Thursday. The Ledge is a set of clear glass walkways that extend out 4.3 feet from the Skydeck windows. Its four enclosures look down 1,353 feet over Wacker Drive and the Chicago River's South Branch. The glass is three layers thick, and each layer is a half-inch thick. The balconies can to hold about five tons. Sears Tower officials said the inspiration for the balconies came from the hundreds of forehead prints visitors left behind on Skydeck windows every week.
You couldn't even pay me to do it!

I don't know - I'd like to think I have the nerve, but when push comes to shove (hopefully not literally) I might not.

My sentiments exactly!
Reminds me of that "thing" over the Grand Canyon with the glass floor.
I wonder what that's going to cost....We paid $18 back in Feb. just to take the elevator up to the observation deck...so no, I don't feel the need to go again, and there is no way you'd get me on that ledge.

You bet that would be great.
Going up there Chicago later this month I might do it. If we get down town.
