Morning all. Uff da but I'm tired! I worked 5 in a row and one night off and now I'm on 2 of 4 and Friday is a 12 hour shift. Thank goodness I'm off Sat thru Thurs of next week! Having trouble with the blood sugars this week - wonder why LOL. I slept for 10 hours the other day and woke up to a BG of 48. Haven't felt good since.

Weather has been cool and moist - not wet, just "moist". Highs have been in the low 60's which is a relief from that hot weather we had. Suppose to be nice for the weekend - low to mid 70's and partly cloudy. We are having a picinic at the folks Saturday afternoon. Only one of my brother's is in Missouri this year so will be nice to have one of them home. Not sure if we are doing the fireworks at the folks this year or not. Last year we waited until my brother's came home and had a labor day celebration. This year nobody really has the money to get them. We can all come to my house this year and sit on my front yard and watch the ones from the city if we want.

well, hope all are well. Sending those fuzzies and lots of love!

    Coffee  Good Morning Everyone!!!  Coffee

Coffee Michelle, there is plenty of coffee for you to help you feel  better.  Everyone grab a mug, and share this big pot of coffee with me.  Our community fire works is tomorrow night..We can sit on our porch too, and watch them...Bad part about that is, the dog gets so scared, we spend more time comforting him than watching the fireworks.  I hope you can get some good rest as you sure had a nasty work schedule and such long hours.  I am sorry to hear that your BS went so low too.  Hope you feel better with those days off and that you can rest.

Coffee Another rainy day here with storms...We are soaked to the gills.  Tonight is the Farmers market, which is nice and tomorrow is grocery shopping and errands.  No plans for the 4th, but the following week is packed full of plans.

    Good morning, everyone.

Nice to see you, MICHELE. Crazy weather, eh? We have been so cool, but some warmer, July-like weather coming. It's nice when you don't have to join the park crowd to watch the fireworks.

MARY, many of us able to watch the fireworks from our homes. We do, too. Can't see the ones on the ground, but I like the high, spread-across-the-sky, bursting in air ones best, anyway. A quiet week sounds so good.

ROBERTA, happy to hear the vacation problem is settled. Not easy working for a snake. When I was teaching, we all kept a CYA notebook with lots of documentation.

Glad coffee is ready 'cause I need some. BBL

Nancy – Let me know how the pie turns out that you make.  I had sent you an email.  Let me know if you didn't get it, please.

Hauke – I hope you enjoyed your Canada Day and had a great time with your family.

Roberta – I'm so glad you got the vacation time worked out.  Yes, I was very glad the blood work came back good.  Thanks.

Michele – Your poor thing!  No wonder your BS readings are out of whack.  Enjoy your time off.  Also enjoy the holiday with your family.

Mary – Enjoy your day today.  All day yesterday, it looked like it was going to rain, but we just had very light sprinkles.  We've had a lot of rain, too, but my back yard is cracked because it is so dry.  I don't know how it can be so dry!

We have tomorrow off from work, so this is the last work day of the week. Yippee.
It is cloudy this morning and I think there is a chance of showers, then clear this afternoon.

    Good Morning all ~~

Just a quick stop before breakfast.  I've been away from 'work' schedules so long, that I had forgotten how exciting it is to have a day or two off during the week.  And Michelle, what a routine you've been on ~~ no wonder your BS are wonky!   For all of you who are still working, enjoy your long weekend and relax and have some fun.  For all of us who are retired, (as my DH says) every day is a Saturday!!!!  Happy 4th!  And, Hauke, I have no doubt that you and your family enjoyed Canada Day .............and consumed some wonderful food.  We have no plans for the 4th, and after our busy weekend last week, that's not all bad.

Nancy, I've about 'had it' with our crazy weather!  Our DD#1 just found out that what she thought was sinus problems and infection, is actually allergies.  The doctor has her on some allergy meds and another med, and she feels better than she has in years.  I can't get over how much better she sounds.

Joyce, so glad your labs came back good.  I just had mine done too, and finally things are looking better after all the steroids.  My doctor increased my med dosage tho ~~ he wants things to improve a little faster.  More labs in 3 months, then I  have to go in to see him.

So far, this is a grey, gloomy day with the temp at 60°.  We are eventually to reach the mid 70's, but not until late this afternoon.  Our temps have been so very cool the last few days, it's an awful change from the extreme hot weather we had last week.  Tomorrow were are to have a high of 83°, so that will be nice.

Well, gotta go, eat and then get ready for bridge.  BBL

Re: DC Conversation - Thursday, July 2nd

    Hi everyone.

Yesterday was very relaxing ... although my father had trouble with the fact that we were just taking "our time" in getting lunch on the table at noon.  I kept saying -"I emailed everyone to day come for 12 so we can start grilling"  and that "picnics are ready when everything is set up and grilled"  but all he kept saying was ... "it's after 12 - you're all late"   LOL

As usual, we had WAY to much food.  In fact, after the kids clear the picnic tables and it went back in the kitchen, I heard Tim say "it's like we didn't eat a things, the bowls are still so full".   We had 7 salads plus the burgers and all their fixings and some brats.  Yes, we were all too full for mom's dessert so we ended up eating that at supper time.  LOL

But then, my mom always plans the meals so there are leftovers for her grandkids to take home ... so neither Tim nor Heather will have to worry about making lunches or suppers til the weekend as they all took home lots of salads ... especially potato salad.   We have lots of that too as I had asked mom to make the entire 10 lb bag of potatoes into salad ... so we could have some food at the new place while we're working.   And she did.

We're almost ready to head out the door.  Need to go finish the installing of the vanity sink in the main bathroom.  And I get to start building the storage cupboards for my bathroom as we stopped at IKEA yesterday morning on our way to moms and bought all the storage cupboards for the en-suite.  We already had the vanity, but I found some great storage units to match and since this place has less storage areas than where I'm moving from, I opted to add as much storage space as I can.  I'm looking forward to having two almost functional bathrooms by the weekend.  The last thing will be installing the new tub surrounds... but we can always do that even after we move in.

I forgot to say ... for the past 10 days there were predicting nothing but rain for Canada Day ... and yet it turned out to be a beautiful day ... no rain and temps between 70 and 74 ... which was great for all the folks attending the outdoor activities.

Well, we're off.  Have a great day everyone!  See you tonight.

    Hauke

Re: DC Conversation - Thursday, July 2nd

    Just finished a leisurely lunch.

JOYCE, received the recipe, thanx. My DD Laura was saying the same thing about no work tomorrow. But, her bands do have several parades to play in, starting this evening.

HAUKE, always lots of goodies to take home after a family get-together. And, your house prep is moving right along. Some pics will have to shown.

SANDY, I'm sitting here in my sweatshirt jacket waiting for July to finally show up. I thought I had sinus problems, too, but Dr. said acid reflux and breathing problem. Nexium and Advair helped whatever was ailing me and I am fine, right now. Being retired, my DH always tells the neighbor that we are on vacation this week.

Nothing special for the rest of the day, but we will go to church, tonight.

Hello to all, I had trouble getting in but am finally here.    I wanted to tell you all thanks for your B D wishes and Hauke you certainly have a way with words I am not sure I deserve all the praise but I sure do thank you!!!

We went to Coulee Dam yesterday (DD and I) went in for lab works then to the Casino for  my $10.00 so lost it right away in the penny machine then went to lunch (Chinese) and then to the lacal stores and ran into a lot of people so got a lot of B D hugs and in one store the lady insisted she was going to give me something and tried to make me pick out something when I wouldn't she got some ear rings out and I told her my ears weren't pierced and I really didn't want her to give me anything, went next door and when we came out she is inside her store waving for us to wait so she came out with  a Betty Boop clock so I finally accepted it.

Joyce, she is the on I told you that said I was totally RAD!!

On our way home we came across a fire the garage was burning high flames and black smoke so must have had tires in there  the house was about 8 ft from the garage and the fire was all around the house I haven't heard if they saved the house or not, there were no fire trucks there yet so it must have just started.

We didn't have a special supper as we weren't really hungry but Sue had baked me a Razzleberry pie so had it and ice cream so that was good.

We live above a camp ground and there has been fireworks going off every night, you can buy any kinds of fireworks on the Rez.

We don't have any plans for the 4th , it will just be the 3 of us as my DS and their familys are busy with baseball.   Randy is the coach for his 3 boys and they have a tournment in Mt and Rob's youngest DD is on a team and they are going to western Wa.

So we will just stay in where it is cool. it is suppose to ge tup to 90 today and hotter in the next 3 days to come.

Sue needs to use the computer so better get off and try and finish up that blue/yellow quilt just have the out side borders to go.     Marge

Re: DC Conversation - Thursday, July 2nd

Hi gang, I'm just breezing in.

Mary and Michelle, if you have the kind of bathroom that has a loud fan, put your dog into the bathroom with the fan on, and they usually can't hear the fireworks.  That is what we did with our Collie when we lived back in San Jose, suburbia with homes everywhere, and the 4th. of July was awful for the dogs.   It worked like a charm, the neighbor's did the same with their dogs.  Most of the dogs fell asleep on the floor and only work up when the door was opened.

We don't haven't had fireworks in 27 years, they are not allowed up here in the forests and mountains.  But some dummies still bring them and come up and do them at campgrounds, so something always burns because of that.

Isn't it something how many have such odd weather this time of year, from too cold to hotter than hades.   We had some small heat waves, but by next week it's supposed to cool down again.  My zucchini don't know whether to grow or not, one barrell full of them has buds of flowers beginning to come up, and the other barrels have plants that are just a few inches high.  Oh well.

I'm glad Hauke had a good day off from all the hustle getting that house finished.   It took us over three months to get our "handy man's dream" house fixed up too.  Time consuming, and money consuming too.

Have a good weekend, and Michelle, I hope you get some rest and get those blood sugars back to normal.

    Doris
