Opera Concert in the Park Costume Pic

I just sang in an opera concert in the park and wore a fun new bodice I just had made...I had ordered a gown in this fabric for my last show and it came out awful, so I shipped it off to another seamstress and she made this pretty bodice.  At least something good came out of it!  It was fun to wear.  And it was fun to sing in the park with a bunch of friends from our opera company.    Just wanted to share a picture with friends...Smile

Beautiful picture.  Love the costume.  The shoes are just lovely too.

Thank you very much!  I wish you guys could have come too...I had so much fun, I'm still smiling from it!

Red_Savage, I love that blouse too...I have a matching long skirt so I can wear the set with a Renaissance overdress...and I have the same set in bright cobalt blue, which I wore in my last show.  I'm having it made in a soft gold now to go under a black overdress with gold embroidery.  I love that lady's work (different from the one who made the bodice) because she makes the best sleeves!  They're huge!  LOL  Not everybody gets it when I say you can't make them too big to suit me, but she does.

I was actually going to wear heels but wasn't sure if I'd be walking on grass at the park, so opted for the boots.   But I agree with you, I would wear this to go out!  I warned my husband I was going to start dressing up like this more when we go out...he doesn't like too much attention!  LOL  I love that red too...in person, it's a true blue red, not an orange red, which is the one I like best.  I don't think I wear much red, but maybe I should.  I wear too much black so I decided to go crazy.

I'm dripping with envy. It has been years since I have been to a Renaissance. I love long, flowing sleeves. Does the skirt have a regular waist band or is it elastic? Seems the long skirts in the catalogs for renaissance skirts or elastic only. (which I do not care for nor the "bunched up" look of gathers around the waist)

The skirt does have an elastic waist because I asked for it...so I could get into it really fast during quick changes in a show (had to change in the hallway outside the stage door in the last show and my dresser had both pieces together and ready for me to jump into), but I know she can do a regular waistband.   The skirt  isn't bunchy at the waist (my concern too) because she tapers the panels.  She does beautiful work and I could definitely give you her contact information if you wanted a blouse.  She usually makes them in cotton, but made them in silkessence poly fabric for me because I wanted a silkier flowing look.  She also did me a huge favor and ran to the store, found the red fabric and made me a skirt overnight (to match the blouse which I already had for over a year) because I had a costume 911!  She's a wonderful person and I highly recommend her.

I'm going to a renaissance fair in November and I'm working on putting together something great...I'm thinking of wearing this black and gold bodice and having a  matching over-skirt made, then wear one of the sets underneath...I have brocade sleeves that tie onto this bodice too.  I love costumes!Big Smile Wish you could go too!

I would appreciate that, though it may be some time before I could even contemplate having something made. (never done that before, smiling) I, too, prefer the soft, flowing look of versus the stiffer material.
