Lotte a winter without snow, how much fun is that? That is terrible how can kids go outside and build a snowman???

Cathy, wishing that the baby will drop soon and arrive on time. Nine months is long when you are waiting.

Meme good to hear that you enjoy going uptown for the festivities.

Char, what a girl so busy with the kids, housework and packing to go camping. A mother is the glue of the family, if it wasn't for her nothing would get accomplished.

Eva, nice to see you, I know what you mean Canada is my adopted country and I love her.  We have so much freedom and beauty in N.America.

I better go and get the kids up soon.

Have only a 2 hour day to work, the other client cancelled.

    Have a wonderful day,

Good morning Maria -- it is raining again this morning -- I am ready for it to stop for a few days.  It rained yesterday morning and I thought for sure that would put the kaibash (sp??) on the Canada Day festivities -- but it stopped raining -- but never really got sunny.  Mostly it was a good day although we did not make the profit that we did last year.  But the lunch was good and there were leftovers for us to take home.  I got home around 3.  Today I have nothing going on with the church LOL.  But I am expecting my play date friend to come over.

I'm washing towels now because when in the dryer they do come out softer -- and it is wet outside.  If it were sunny they would be going outside and be darned with the extra softness.

DH worked the night shift and if it's not too wet, he'll be going golfing when he gets off -- absolutely do not know how he does it -- a different breed.

Having a coffee now and hoping that everyone enjoy their Thursday -- especially you Meesh without ACW.

    Good morning all,

I hope you all had a nice Canada Day. Sorry I didn't get on yesterday to wish you a good one. I just know it ruined your day. LMBO

I've been busy trying to make a crib bumper. It's coming along but whew! I do have the diaper stacker finished. Back when I had my kids, there were no nursery themes to worry about. Just tried to get some little flannel gowns made to keep them warm.

We're having a cool spell now. I don't like it. I want my summer back. Still nothing in the garden but squash &cucumbers. Doggone it.

Has anyone heard from Ada? I worry about her.

Gotta run, need to get this sewing done so I can clean tomorrow & get rid of all the threads that are everywhere. As with everything else, I'm not a very neat sewer. When I'm cooking, I have a big mess too. Takes me longer to clean up but there's nothing I can do about it. LOL

Good morning YF, Aleida, Meesh, and all to follow.

Maria, I understand about not being used to the Grands...no wonder my parents and grandparents used to say we needed naps because they were tired! LOL

Aleida? You have a play date? Hope you have plenty of snacks and enough toys to shareSmile

And Meesh, no ACW for how long? Grrrreat! Maybe so much work will get done while she's gone that they won't need her to come back. Do your other co-workers feel the same way about her?

Our big holiday weekend will start at quitting time today. We don't have any particular plans except that we'll cook out Saturday evening. Suits me because I really don't want to be stuck in the never-ending city traffic. I love fireworks but don't love trying to get to the venue and spending hours getting back home again.

DD works at her once-a-week job until 2 today so I'm the official adult in charge until then. DGS rarely gets up before noon, and DGD usually just putters around the house while her mom is gone.

Supper tonight is BLTs using tomatoes from the two plants that DGD and I started growing in April. We are about to be innundated with tomatoes from just two plants. There are so many that we'll probably share friends and neighbors.

Still a lot of stuff to put away and things to find homes for. Our garage sale last Saturday left us with a good bit of space in the garage so DD and I are going to tackle the organizing project when she gets home this afternoon. The weather here is expected to continue in the upper 80s/low 90s for a few more days so we don't have to contend with unbearable heat out there, thank heaven.

Cathy, I bet you're more than ready to sprout...so are we! LOL

Guess I'd better get crackin' before DGD comes bounding down the stairs.

Marilyn, I was typing while you were posting. What? You don't like our "cool" spell? Enjoy it while you can because you know it's not likely to happen again before October. It's still plenty warm enough! DS called yesterday to tell me that he was freezing his behind at noon when their temp in Marquette was a balmy 48 with a brisk north wind off Lake Superior. Count your blessingsSmile

Hello again -- my play date was cancelled.  Lily woke up in the middle of the night with a fever and she is sick now -- so we'll have to reschedule.  So I think I will try to make my mom's fruit bread again and see if it can be just a bit better than last time -- keep practicing until I get it near to perfect.

I hear you Marilyn about leaving a mess -- kitchen looks like a disaster area when I'm done with preparing whatever.  And if it's clean HOW does it get cluttered again so fast -- think DH has something to do with that.  Have fun with your sewing today.

Hi grammapeach.  I didn't have that many snacks but I have a ton of toys we can play with.  Can't imagine getting up at noon like your DGS.  What time does he go to bed??

So off to start the bread.  I'll know soon if DH decided to golf as normally he would be home in about 5 minutes.

Good morning everyone. Well I hope you all survived the celebration yesterday. We had a very busy day but such a fun packed day ending with a beautiful display of fireworks last night. Our church group has a booth that we sell cold plates, sandwiches and of course homemade pies. We open the doors at 10:15 and immediately started selling pieces of pie. We only charge $1.50 a piece and they just flock to the booth for them. LOL

The museum sponsers bingo for a couple hours in the afternoon, played that but didn't win a penny.

So today is just going to be a rest up day, Keisha will be here when she wakes up.

I will see if your recipe is posted somewhere Aleida, I still have some fruit in the deepfreeze from Christmas. Please send us some of your rain, we are so ver dry,

Better go and make my tea,BBL     Dolores

    Mom's Fruit Bread

    1 cup milk
    1/2 cup sugar
    1 tsp salt
    1/4 cup shortening

Mix these together in a bowl.
Zap for 2 minutes and stir
    until shortening is melted.
If necessary, zap a bit more.

    5 oz warm water (103º to 105º)
    2 Tbsp sugar
2 Tbsp yeast (Quick Rise Instant)

Mix the water and sugar together.  Add the yeast.  Gently make sure it is entirely submerged in the liquid.  Set it aside to expand for 5 minutes or so.  At that time, give it a quick stir before mixing it in with the ingredients as indicated.

    3 eggs, fork beaten
    1 cup milk
    3 cups raisins
    2 cups mixed glace fruit (450 g)
    6 cups sifted flour, divided

Combine the eggs and milk and mix well in a large bowl.  Add the raisins and fruit and mix well.  Add the shortening mixture, stirring as you pour it in.  Add the yeast mixture and mix until well combined.  Add 3 cups flour, mix well.  Add the last 3 cups of flour and mix well.  Knead in the bowl, or on the counter if you wish.  Mixture will be very sticky.  Place it back in the bowl, cover and place in a warm spot for 2 to 3 hours.
Remove dough.  Punch down and knead again.  Put it into loaf pans that are buttered and floured.  The dough does not need to completely cover the bottom of the pan as it will expand upon sitting.  Cover pans with a towel and again leave it in a warm spot for 2 to 3 hours.
Put the pans in a preheated 300º oven for 30 minutes -- bread will be golden brown.  Remove from oven and place on racks to cool.   (3 small loaf pans -- 23 cm x 13 cm (9 x 5 in))

Streaking by, fully clothes, mind you,,,heehee...on my way to work. Super was "desperate", so guess who caved in and agreed to cover the shift.

Have a good day ladies. Sunny here and 13. We haven't had any hot weather here, which is actually better because it's as dry as a cork. Not too many fireworks here because there were fire bans everywhere.

    Re: Canadian Corner 07/02/09

Good morning!  And men think women change their mind like the wind?????  Holy cow, yesterday I got all ready to go to PG, that means my house is clean, my trailer is packed, I was ready to leave here at 9:30, had the babysitter coming and everything.  Well, at 10PM that all got cancelled!  So now I am having a relaxing afternoon.  Apparently DH only has a couple of hours of work and then we leave, so just don't have time to go to PG and back.  We are now going to Quesnel.  I'm still trying to get over the changes!  From east to south, from Thur night to Thur noon, goodness!  So I will just pick up some essentials in town here, and maybe on our way home, we will shop.

We had a funny last night.  About 10:45 fireworks started.  DH boss called and said he heard there was to be fireworks at 11.  Now, my little town really doesn't celebrate July1st.  So this was shocking.  But DD#2 was up, and buzzing around the house, becuse of the fireworks.  So we woke up the other two, draged DS into the car, he was not excited, but DDs both were.  And we head into town, one minute drive away.  Well, apparently there were no fireworks, other then a few people shooting them off!  So DH calls his boss and says to him "They are doing them at the museum"  So boss heads off to the museum, LOL.  Now we both been had!

YF, yea, I can see how having the kids can be tiring.  That is why God made babies for young people, he certainly knew what he was doing!

Dob, I am on facebook, I'll PM you the info so you can find me, but apparently I am very hard to find??  And right now, I can't even get onto FB for some reason, odd.

Guess I'll finish my coffee, have a shower, and then my MIL is coming to watch the kids while I do errands.  it's only because she wants to do laundry at my house, so I can do my stuff while she has my kids.

I'm on facebook too but I almost never go there -- used to go regularly before all their changes and played scrabble with DD and Dsister.  But that's well over a year ago

I'm on facebook too, but don't know much about it. LOL Sometimes I can't figure out what to do so I just e-mail the person so they don't think I'm ignoring them.
