    Did you ever .....

Did you ever have your palm read?

Did you ever have Tarot cards read for you?

Have you ever tried to contact the dead ?

    No, no and no.

You must have watched The View this morning!

Eons ago my roommate went to a fortune teller and the woman told her that she had some sort of bad karma or whatever about her that would cause her all sorts of bad luck in her future.  She told Edna that for a fee (a hefty one at that) she could 'cure' her.   Edna was going to do it and it took me a long time to convince her the woman was a fraud after only her money.

As far as I know, Edna had no bad luck...

Yes.  At a ren-faire, for a lark.  I found her statements very generic.  Not quite "You will meet a tall, dark stranger...", but not much more original.

Yes, several times.  Unsurprisingly, I found the readings from people who know me more insightful than those by strangers.

When I was a kid, some of my friends held a seance.  Amusingly, one of the people they tried to contact, and who some of them claimed to see, turned out to be still alive.  As far as I know, Shirley Temple (Black) is still still alive.

Tarot cards and palm reading... yes.

Contacting the dead? No, and that doesn't interest me at all. I suppose if the dead want to contact me, then that's fine. But I'm not going to initiate the contact, if such a thing is even possible.

At a party once the hostess provided a Psychic to read palms and Tarot cards - I prefer not to hear what they have to say, just puts you in that mind frame to expect the worst in your life if they say unpleasant stuff.  So no.

Yes, but only to having my palm read.

I found the 'revelations' to be pretty basic. She said I was a worrier & lose sleep at night over those worries, that I was sensitive and that I had something like minor stomach concerns.  I didn't tell her it was probably the Mexican food I had for lunch!!

Yes...thought it was fun...a big joke...but I have stayed away from seers since my South African episode with a witch-doctor.

Background, my family and I  had to return to South Africa and I was waiting for my American immigration papers to go through channels...hubby was so excited to be there...he was a professional photographer and South Africa is soooo photogenic.

One trip took us to the Thousand Hills area of Natal ( I now live in the Endless Mountains of PA...go figure). Beautiful place, every turn of the road is a calendar page. We stopped at a Zulu compound. Hubby began to take pictures. The medecine man approached and wanted to give me a reading... reading the bones. I pulled away but hubby said , oh go ahead, it's all make-believe anyway. But the medecine man would not allow hubby in the rondavel.

It was dark and smelly in there...BO and rancid fat...I was very uncomfortable. The witch doctor said not to worry and threw the bones...and began telling me things he had absolutely no way of knowing. He spoke in a mix of English, Afrikaans and Zulu. I can handle the first two, but in Cape Town , Zulus are not a presence so I  lack the language. Then he began on the future...he got the immediate right...then started on the more distant future...I remember he held my arm...and I remember running out of that rondavel...this man scared the bejeesus out of me...he was on the money...I believe to this day, this man saw my entire life.

I have avoided seers ever since.

This happened almost 40 years ago and as I wrote the post, I again felt the hair raise on the back on my neck.

No, No, and I refuse to even consider the last.

Pam reading and tarot cards are more interpretation than anything else, I think. Contacting the dead, though..........that opens doors to places we should not go. In high school I went to a slumber party where a ouija board was brought out. Another girl and I  adamantly refused to participate, so nobody did.

I know right from wrong. Wrong is the fun one.

I'm sure I must have when I was young.

    Bunnyboo3:

Yes, I have and it was extremely influential.  I've read my own cards since I was 22.  That was 20 some years ago. I hate when my family calls me to read their cards.  I absolutely hate it because it's always about death.  I don't like cards so much because they capture a snapshot in time.    For me, astrology shows that whole picture.  Shows the whole life lesson.

      Yes.

So, Linda....did you get in touch with someone who is dead?  Just curious as to what happened.

I'm curious too if you managed to contact someone - and if so, what happened.

Nothing when I've been conscious.  But I *feel* they come to me in my dreams.  One very dominant one was my Gramma.  The dream was so beautiful to start with then it turned into one I could never imagine.  I saw my Gramma on her death bed.  She waved me to come sit on her bed.  Her mouth was bloody.  The site of her scared me.

Anyway, My Dad told me to call his sister because she was the one that took care of her during her last days.  Turns out her mouth was all bloody.  No one knew that but my Aunt.

All Gramma told me in the dream was:  *I waited a very long time to say goodbye to you. I have to let you go now.*  (I was only 2 when she died of Cancer)  Just typing her words gives me chills.  As a child I always felt her presence near me but since that dream......she's gone.  Really gone.  I was about 27yrs old then.

When she died, I was 2.  Supposedly, I would wake up at 3am and play with her.  We would laugh, play and run around in my room. The noise would wake up my parents and one of them would come into my bedroom and ask me what was going on.  *I'm playing with Gramma.*  *She's right there don't ya see her!?*

Could've be an active imagination.....Dunno.  Confused
