****PRAYER CIRCLE FRI JULY 3, 2009****

Good evening! (Or morning if you're reading this tomorrow!) I have another devotional from Ron Hutchcraft. I needed to read this one.

    The Reason For the Heat

Our friend Barbara is incredibly creative - including creating jewelry. The other day she told us about how she made a beautiful gold ring. Actually the ring is designed in wax. When she has the ring design that she wants carved in the wax, she pours plaster-of-Paris around that molded wax ring. Then she puts it in an oven. Well, of course, the intense heat melts the wax away until there's no wax left, just a vacuum, shaped like the ring she wants. Then she puts this in a centrifuge, and that spins gold into the vacuum where the wax used to be. Gold rushes in where it was once just wax. And out comes something very beautiful and much more valuable.

I have a feeling that someone listening right now is, well, like you're in the oven. The heat around you is rising, and sometimes it seems almost unbearable. There's stress and conflict, maybe grief or pain or heavy pressure. And it's hard not to ask, "Why, God? Why are You making me feel this heat that's so intense and why is it lasting so long?"

It could be that part of the answer is in our word for today from the Word of God in Malachi 3:2-3. "He will be like a refiner's fire or a launderer's soap. He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver." The fire you're feeling may very well be the Refiner's fire. It's not designed to burn you or to hurt you. It's designed to melt away the impurities and make you more valuable than you have ever been. And notice, the Refiner only puts things that are valuable in the fire like gold and silver. So the heat you're feeling may not be because something is wrong, but because God thinks you are worth refining! He put you in the fire because He believes in you, He loves you, He sees what you could be if you could just lose some of the "wax."

When the heat is on, God has our attention as He does at no other time. We really know Him when we really need Him, and we really need Him when it's hot. God may be using the fire right now to get you to examine some corners of your heart or of your life that you've never really surrendered fully to His Lordship. He may use the oven to show you junk you've accumulated that has to go before He can take you to the next level. He wants to enlarge your view of Him and to prepare you for greater things.

After a recent "A Word with You," I got this e-mail: "Our home burned on December 25. I was very thankful God was with us during the fire and we all made it out, but I was still very depressed over the loss we suffered of our home." She goes on to tell about driving down the road and hearing my message on purifying fire. She says, "That was the beginning of our blessings from God concerning the fire. Although we are a spiritual family, we had not truly connected with God in a while. He has brought us a long way since December 25. Just as that day symbolized the birth of Jesus, it will also serve as the rebirth of us spiritually. Although we did lose everything we owned materially, we gained something much more precious that night, something that will be with us no matter what may come - a heart filled with love for our Savior."

And that's why you're in the fire, to burn away all the wax, so God can pour His gold where once there was only wax. He's making something very, very beautiful.

Hi Deb, great lesson & I need to allow the refiners fire to do its intended job, sometimes I feel like a weinie.  As for the weather heat I'm not taking the 100's very well, during the day I have the fan, A/C on & still can't get cool enough.

Have a safe trip & enjoy your visit

    Prayers for you all,   Patty

Great lesson, Deb!  I think I'm going to share this one with Bobby--he's been through so much!

BTW, speaking of him: I got an email and he says the Dr. says that the ulcerations that they've been seeing in his stomach, intestines, etc. are NOT cancer but ulcers caused by the chemo.  He does have cancer in the bones of one of his legs but it's not growing and may even be decreasing.  :))   (No wonder the poor guy was in pain!)    They're going to stop his treatments for a few months and they've put him on a liquid/soft diet and told him to rest.    So I'm Praising God that while not great news, it's better than it could be!   Please continue to pray for him!

Mari, Praising God for your finding a Dr. who could help you!  And I'm praying for your surgery and that everything that needs to be done, will get done!  :)   Hugs!

Linda, that is a beautiful testimony to what God can do!   I'm so glad the Drs. were wrong!  :)   Gentle hugs!

Patty, I'm with you.  Could not sleep last night and then missed my nap this afternoon so I'm ready for bed tonight!

Deb, I forgot where you were going but have a good trip! :))

    Now I'm praying for all!

Whoa,  just caught up on todays PC and I'm singing praises for Linda and Mari!

(((((Linda)))))  You just keep on kickin' girl.   I recall so clearly how worried we all were.   Hadn't realized it was 2 years tho....time just flies when you're havin' fun!   You're in my prayers everyday,  my sweet friend.

((((Mari))))   I'm sorry that you will have to have surgery,  but thanking God that you have a diagnosis and that it's something that the drs. can make right.    Hallelujah!

Treasa,  praying for your cousins.  I'm so sorry for their loss.

If any of you dear ones are heading out for the holiday weekend,  have a great time and be safe.

Sending hugs and prayers out for each and every one of you.

Hi Fay.   Thank goodness the spots in Bobby's GI tract are ulcers and not cancer.   Not that ulcers are good,  but they're better than cancer.   Praying that they will heal with the soft diet,  and that the bone cancer continues to shrink.   Praying for you and your assorted family.  Smile

Re: ****PRAYER CIRCLE FRI JULY 3, 2009****

We are doing/going different directions this weekend. Friday the girls and I are going with DMIL garage saleing, then Saturday DH and one DS (the other will be at work) are going fishing with DFIL and several other assorted uncles and cousins. I guess our vacation this summer will be in little bits and pieces like that.

15 years ago I had my gall bladder out on Valentines Day. We still joke about my expensive Valentines Day present that year. Now this year we will be married 20 years in August. Don't know the day for my surgery yet, but this just might top that other surgery as far as cost goes. So another expensive present! I'd rather take the money and go on a cruise or something.Paradise

Have a great day. I'll be praying for you as God brings you to mind while I am shopping.

LOL  Mari!  But you will feel SO much better after the surgery!   You'll be glad you had it instead of a cruise.  :)

Hope you and your family have a great weekend!

    Nite, again!

Wonderful lesson!  I love that song as well.  It really speaks to the soul.  Praise God that He loves us to much to leave us as we are.

Please pray for us as we travel, for safety.  Pray also for Bekka as she stays with the aunts, that she will feel the love of family and the love of God in the family.  That she will bond with her godly aunts in a way that reinforces her faith in God.

Hugs to you all, and prayers for each of you, and hoping you have a wonderful July 4th!
