    • Kelly and his farm may drive me nuts yet!! He called 3 times today and we chatted twice to get him set!! He was sitting in Charlotte NC waiting for his next load to be ready and had nothing to do except drive me nuts.  I love my nearly 40 year old son but there are times he makes me crazy!!

    • Today is Stay Out of the Sun Day to encourage us stay cool in the shade, and to give our skin a rest from the hot, damaging rays of the sun.

    • The sun is directly over head. We're in the middle of summer, when the temperatures are the hottest, and the sun is the brightest. It's not a bad day to take a break from catching all of those rays and stay out of the sun. Actually down here now it is not hard to stay out of the sun.  Mobile had a record high for the day of 101.  No way in heck am I going out in that!!

    • Find some fun and relaxing ways to stay in the shade. A hammock strung behind two shady tress sounds like a great way to go!

    • Special hugs and prayers for Anne, Sherry, Betty, Gat and Jeanette, Grace, and Sally and Colleen.

    •  Remember the group prayer! “Heavenly Father, we ask that you watch over and care for all Cookin’ Seniors and those they love as they go about their day!!”

    • Hugs

    • Today song is one of my very favorite Neil Diamond songs “Coming to America”.  It was recorded in 1980 from “The Jazz Singer”.  I love Neil Diamond music and did you know there is going to be a special with him Saturday? night?

    • Good morning!  Got my fist in the air yelling "Today!!!!!!!"  When we went to a ND concert in Houston way back when the dinosaurs roamed the world, we were in the nosebleed section and I had the binoculars trained on Neil.  He started "Hello Again" and looked straight down those lens barrels into my eyes...I dropped the binoculars and had a small bruise on my chest where they hit....so much for young lust huh?  Margaret and I will be in duet today singing ND songs...oops now I have "The Robert E. Lee" in my mind....soon to be replaced by Cracklin Rose or Brookly Roads...oh dear.
    • Looks like Sicko is staying another week, we will pick up Critter at camp next Friday.  the camp is about 1/2 way between our houses so we will just keep heading east.  Guess Walt will have to take her, we were crammed with dogs sitting on top of guinea pig cages coming up here, and Critter's wheelchair is a load in itself now that he is in an adult sized chair.  That will work, I will just put Marti down piddle pads, a 4 pound bag of food, a gallon of water and go to bed!  LOL.  Or start scraping the chocolate off the ceiling fans.
    • Sherry will have time Monday for a prayer for O'Dell.  Hugs and prayers for each of you, you are loved!

    Good morning everyone~

Zora ~ Got my "toy" back later yesterday and so far it is working great. Not locking up working much faster(sure hope it lasts awhile). He charged $63.00 and for that price he also upgraded my Norton, which would have expired next month, at no extra charge so I'm good for over 400 more days now.

Margaret ~ cooler temps here today, but no complaining from me.

Nancy B ~ Keep forgetting to comment on your malpro........(can't remember things nearly like I once did Smile ). Keep them coming if you have more. Also you and Groovygrammy commented on Dachshunds. DD has had 3. Her first was a long-haired named Emmett. He had the sweetest nature and was so loving.....a very tiny little thing. When he died a few years ago of a brain tumor Jani was so upset that she went right out and got another. Bristol is a brindle smooth-coat. He also has a sweet personality, but he's unpredictable and bites(that's why he didn't get to come to Gramma's) when food is involved. Tallie is also a brindle , so far, is like Emmett with a super-sweet personality. She's very loving and is definitely a "lapdog".

It's a coolish morning here today after showers again last evening. It's so nice to have all this rain, since we usually have drought conditions through the summer for the last 20 years or so. Can't help wondering if the crops will get enough heat to do well though as some plants really need heat to thrive.

Hope all have a good day. Hugs and prayers to those who need them.

    Jeane

     Good Morning Everyone,

I'm back, my brother came up and hooked up my old computer for me...it's slower than molasses!   But it works.    A new one is in the future, but I'll have to wait till someone smarter than I am comes to hook it up.    I found out it wasn't just plug the red thing in the red thing!   The new keyboard wouldn't fit the old computer, the new monitor wouldn't fit etc. etc.  He had fun for over an hour!

Zora, it's easy to stay out of the sun here right now, we haven't seen much of it in a couple weeks, get torrential rains every night.   A lot of communities are flooded, and this weather is continuing for another week...I think someone mentioned the word "ark"?????

I have a new problem since I was on last, I have poison-ivy on my face right by my eye.    The primary care Dr. prescribed this Medrol dose pack.    I told her I couldn't take anything detremental to glaucoma, so what does the print out say, "Do not take this medication if you have cataracts or glaucoma".     I will call the eye surgeon this morning, I'm sure she will say don't take it.

Guess that's about more than any of you wanted to hear, so for now, I'll say, have a great day everyone, and I'll go back and see what's been going on here for the past week.

Good morning, Off to take Chipper to the vet. His allergies are acting up. Sneezing like Sandy's flower pot siggie yesterday. Now to keep him from hiding under the bed. Will be back later to check on everyone.

You aren't supposed to get poison ivy unless you are at girl scout camp!

I have been looking forward to the parade tomorrow but the forcast is for rain so I may not get to go.  It will also be cool so that means a heavy sweater or jacket.  Dern!

I'm out of professional funnies but could keep you laughing for days on things my kids said and did.  Some I dare not post!  One cute one that comes to mind is when my first born came to me, thrilled to death, because it was raining at both ends of the house.   Nancy B

    Good morning to all -

Woke up waaay too early for my own good (3 AM), so I know a nap will be in order today...<g>

NanB's quips reminded me of a recent email my sis sent on to me.  Here are a few from that email  "What kids think about marriage" answers:

HOW DO YOU DECIDE WHO TO MARRY?

(written by children) VERY WISE CHILDREN !!!

You got to find somebody who likes the same stuff. Like, if you like sports, she should like it that you like sports, and she should keep the chips and dip coming.
    -- Alan , age 10

No person really decides before they grow up who they're going to marry. God decides it all way before, and you get to find out later who you're stuck with.

    ...Kristen, age 10

One of my sons called yesterday.  His company has put its employees on furlough for a week.

It's going to be H O T, so I will be indoors too, Zora.

I know you really enjoy Kelly's phone calls.

    Good Morning

I say that as I give a big yawn...

Around a little before 4 this morning I awoke to the sound of a generator going full blast next door. Oh no I thought so got up and yep no power.

Stumbled around in dark till I found lantern then called light co, (of course never a live human to talk to.

Power back on but I got my sleep pattern all disturbed. Ah... now all say poor baby.  LOL

Good wishes for Odell on Monday I’m sure all will go o.k. Now you can look forward to having a nice summer and being able to enjoy it.

Sounds like Rosie is having a lot of fun snicker, Ha. Ha.

Not much new news here so off to see if my coffee is ready, and if it isn’t I will be one crabby one.

50 years ago it was very very hot at this time  and  my DD wasn’t due for another  8 days and I felt fine and no idea that in less than  9 hours I would have a new baby girl.  We always said she wanted to see the fireworks is why she came early

Hope you all have great day...

This photo provided by the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago shows three trumpeter swan cygnets that hatched last week as they follow closely behind their mother, Thursday, June 18, 2009.. These youngsters have a significant future ahead - they are slated to be released into the wild this fall as part of the trumpeter swan reintroduction and recovery program. (AP Photo/Lincoln Park Zoo, Greg Neise) To date, Lincoln Park Zoo has released 34 swans into the wild - all of them the offspring of this same adult pair of swans. Trumpeter swans were hunted to near extinction by the turn of the twentieth century. Lincoln Park Zoo has been actively involved in their recovery efforts for the past decade. Trumpeter swans are the largest American waterfowl. Once they have paired with a mate the swans remain together for life. They begin breeding after only three or four years of age. Their offspring, known as cygnets, will stay with their parents for up to four months before venturing off on their own. The sexes of the zoo's cygnets have not yet been identified, and they have not been named.

Even while it was still dark the morning was warm. With the ascension of the sun, the day is heating up quickly. Lumpy clouds have melted, becoming a pale, see through coverlet across the blueness of the morning sky. Light and heat has driven the June bugs into hiding. Last night they swarmed the porch and their golden brown bodies clung to the window screens.

Pat--sorry to hear about your Mom falling. I spent last week at doctors, emergency room two different sets of x-rays and an MRI because of my Mom falling. It's not over, but I want to share something with you that you can inquire about. They said that my DM appears to have "compression breaks". Something to do with osteoporosis, old bones/age. Bones are kind of "scrunched" together. The results from the MRI is not back yet. What I have been told, so far, is if it is "compression breaks" and they still have fluid around them, (not to old of a break), they can insert a needle into them and "glue" them. Helps to alleviate some of the pain. No surgery. (DM would not survive surgery anyway and I would not put her through it) What I'm wondering, depending on the type of break your Mom has, is if this "technique" would work for her to help hold the ends of the bones in place? It would keep them from shifting with her body movements and help ease the pain. Or so I think without more information. Just a thought for you to explore.

    Mabel--you poor thing.

Nancy B -- I love reading the things kids come up with.

Zora--I and my friend agree with Bob about NOT breeding mean roosters. A month ago one of her young roosters flew up to her face. She caught him in midair, wrung his neck and he was on the supper table that evening.

Just peeking in while the travelers are still sleeping. They were pretty exhausted.

They will be off and running to see other family and friends after their breakfast. We won't get them back until Sunday.

This afternoon is a parade and we will be involved in it for Naomi House. SHERRY~~I will be dragging my clown costume out! Thought about you. Wink

I'll be passing out balloons.....Hmmmm, I wonder if the helium tank will be on board.

Giving a big shout out to everyone and hugs to go around.

Help yourself to the breakfast spread on the platter!

Good afternoon from Indiana, it's 77 out there, so not too bad.

Zora.......I love ND.......he's one of my all time favorites, will have to check the TV book to see when the special is on Sat. night, DH & I will enjoy it.  Know what you mean about loving the kids......sometimes I dread for the phone to ring, DD #1 sometimes calls 3-4 times a day..........nearly drives me crazy.........what would we do without them!?!?........LOL!  Yes, they have DD on iron pills, I'm not overly concerned about the iron problem, but the high sugar has me concerned, will do another test in a couple of weeks.  Talked to DD #2 last night, she had gotten herself calmed down & was enjoying the evening with her DH, haven't heard from her today......guess she's doing ok......she'll be out Sun. for dinner.

Cleaned the bathrooms this morning & have a load of towels out on the line, DH will be happy.  Rode with him this morning, had an issue with a trailer he bought in May, bad tire on it, wanted to check on warranty.

Having fish & mac & cheese for dinner this evening.......something simple.

Hope everyone is having a great day.
