Morning everybody. The hospital wasn't too bad yesterday. Going to work today and see if I can make some kind of compromise. If not, I guess I will call for a steward. Expecting overtime.

I posted the patriotic dump cake recipe into the 4th of July recipes thread. Somebody was also talking about making a red, white, and blue strawberry pie by putting a ring of blueberries around the outside of the pie crust and one closer to the center of a strawberry pie (the kind where you put the fresh berries in the cooked pie crust and then pour the hot glaze over all of it. The white comes from the whipped cream you put on top of it. Sounded good to me.

I am thinking about making Maddymoo's Dorito casserole for dinner. I haven't made that in a long time.
Need to go to store today or tomorrow one and pick up wax beans for the 3 bean salad. Can't believe the store was out of them the other day. Also need to get some reduced fat Ritz crackers because I want to make barbecued chicken, macaroni and cheese, and lima beans maybe Sunday

Waving hi to Margie, Linda (where are you hiding), Deb, Jill, Dowie, Lisa, Patti, Tracie, Shirley, Cherie, Jolene (congrats on the weight loss), Karen, Becky, Denise, Kathleen, LauraC (well I know about the Shoneys breakfast bar--that was a lot of my job when I was there besides breading fish, shrimp, and oysters, making cheesecake, and biscuits. Can't remember what else. Has been too many years.
Also waving hi to anybody else I might have missed. I miss Sheila.

If you are travelling for the fourth, please be careful.

Hoping to get a swim in this afternoon after work. It has been pretty overcast and rainy looking the past couple of days, but still pretty doggone hot!

Good Morning Ladies. it's the first day of dh's vacation, so we slept in a little longer this morning. DH is on the treadmill, then it's my turn. it's a beautiful sunny day today, so I'm going to do laundry and hang it on the line. Nothing much planned for today, so i guess we;'ll play it by ear. Supper for tonight will be hot dogs, macaroni salad, and a tossed salad. Tomorrow, dh and i are planning to go to the outlets so i'm looking forward to that.

Margie, Have a great day, and enjoy spending time with your family.

Sherry, Hope everything at the Post office works out OK.

Thats it for  now. MY turn to tradmill. I'll be back later.

    Sending HUGS!

    Happy Friday!

    Mornin' Ladies!

I will be doing laundry today.  Also am going to go jump in shower shortly and run (well, drive) into town to get groceries and do a few errands.  Then home to make a few things for tomorrow.

Royce is off of work today too.  Not sure what he'll be doing, I'm sure he'll be working on something around the house.

Have a great day and a great start to the holiday weekend!

Good morning Junies! Cloudy, dark & dreary this AM, but they're calling for sunshine with a high of 79 later; hope they're right.

Don is off to work for a while, and I have my usual Friday chore of cleaning bathrooms, then will finish packing clothes & food to take to the lake. Have to bake Don's cake, season the ribs for tomorrow, mix up the ice cream & take along stuff to make dinner rolls & a coffee cake for Sunday. For a treat, Danielle & I are dipping pretzel rods in white chocolate & sprinkling them with red, white & blue star-shaped sprinkles.

Margie, hope you find the goodies you're looking for at the farmer's market and enjoy your day!

Sherry, glad yesterday was a good day; praying you can work out time off for the root canal. Hope you get to swim today!!

Jill, sorry you didn't sleep well, hate when that happens. :(

Denise, enjoy the day with your DH!

Patti, hope you have a good day!

Will try to pop back later before I leave for the lake; if not, wishing all my wonderful friends a very safe & happy 4th!! Sending prayers for Sheila, Beth, Shirley, Linda (sure miss you gf), Kim, Stacey and all who need them......enjoy your day!

    hugs, Lisa

Good morning.  After yesterday's swim lessons, we went strawberry picking.  Ended up with almost 43 lbs.  Froze some yesterday and plan to make strawberry jam today and maybe a pie for tomorrow.  I'll be spending my time in the kitchen today I think.  Besides taking care of the strawberries, I want to get my salads for tomorrow made.  I also want to bake some buns for hotdogs and burgers.  For the 4th we are just going to grill out here at home then meet up with one of my db's and his family at the fireworks tomorow night.

Margie, I love going to the farmer's market.  We went to our local one this past Tuesday and I picked up some rhubarb and kohlrabi.  Dh picked up an ice cream cone.  Reading about your taco's and nacho's makes me hungry for them.  May have to serve them for supper tonight.

Patti, I was reading yesterday's posts and you mentioned you were going strawberry picking.  Do you go to Kirshbaum's between Columbus & Beaver Dam?  That's where we went yesterday.

Jill, how many blueberry bushes do you have?  Do you get enough from them to freeze a bunch for winter use?  We love blueberries and I've often thought about getting some, are they hard to care for?

Just looked at the clock, guess I had better get busy.  Still haven't gotten dh's lunch packed.  He thinks he only has enough work for a couple of hours, but I pack a lunch anyway in hopes that it will be a full day.

Waving hello to all.  Enjoy your day.  Becky

Jill, Sorry you couldn't sleep. i hate when thast happens. Sometrimes Im so tired during the day, I don't feel like doing anything. After all that hard work today, going out to dinner tonight will be a nice break for you and your DH.

Patti, Enjoy your time with Royce today. Have fun getting ready for your picnic tomorrow. I bet it will be fun.

Lisa, Looks like you have a busy day today getting ready to go to the lake. The pretzels your making with danielle sound so good.

DH and i may go to the fireworks tonight. Ther are so many places we could go, now we just have to decide what to do! Off to the shower!

    Sending HUGS!

Becky, I have 8 blueberry bushes, tho one was just planted this past fall so no berries this year and very few for a few years and 3 are about 3 years old so just starting to really bear.  Around here you have to have a net or as we do a cage around your berries or the birds will beat you to them.   I get enough to freeze and eat all I want.  Since I give fresh berries to my kids I don't freeze quite as many but fresh are so much better than frozen.  But so far I have 2 gal frozen.  Main thing about blueberries is soil must be acid I think 5-6 is best.  I mulch with pine needles and every other year put aluminium sulfide around them plus fertilize with acid fertilizer.  Our first try at it they died and then we realized soil was too alkaline.  Also need lots of water if it's dry, roots are shallow.  After having many bushes and we have dug up and replanted other varieties because some are just too small and picking can be a nightmare.  So I go for large and sweet.  :)  Also prune well each late winter.  I thot I was but this past year I was about ready to get rid of one bush with small berries so said what the heck and pruned it BIG TIME and the berries are big this year so prune and don't be afraid to prune heavy.  We love having our own and that way you get fresh all along instead of that one big picking at a blueberry farm and then fresh from grocery store after that and they just aren't the same

    Good Morning June friends!!

We got home late last night instead of this afternoon, worked out better for DH to pull the trailer home, otherwise he would have had to cut his golfing short, although he said he didn't mind. Also oldest DD is leaving this afternoon to go camping for the weekend. Had a few very nice days!! Tuesday it was early evening by the time we finally got there. We mostly had supper and played a few games and I went to bed, I was exhausted for some reason. The others sat around the campfire for awhile. Wednesday DH went golfing with his brothers, we spent most of the day with my sister and her DH who were also camping there, my brother and a niece and her family were there for the day, we went for a walk, snacked, took the kids ot the park, went on bike rides, had supper, chatted... Yesterday DH went golfing, DD went to work, other DD and I slept in, we made pancakes and bacon for breakfast, then DD went home with my niece to babysit for her, they live a few minutes from the campground, so I was left all alone, it was very peaceful and quiet, really enjoyed it! I read, went for a shower, drove around looking at campsites and pretty much was as lazy as I could be. After everyone got back to the campsite we had supper (pie irons), and then packed up and came home. I think it was almost 11 by the time we got home.

This morning DH is off golfing again, I'll have to start laundry, and check how everything is doing outside. Like I said, oldest DD is going camping  for the weekend after she gets off work. Other DD has invited a friend over to go to youth together. They were talking about a sleepover, but think they changed their mind.

Hope you all have a great weekend GFs!!

Good Morning Ladies!  Happy July 4th Weekend!  Anyone have plans?  We don't, just a picnic for tomorrow, and maybe tonight going over to the Reading Phillies parking lot to watch the fireworks, that is about it.  DH is off today, and went to get his haircut, he'll be leaving for California on Monday morning.

I got called yesterday from work, they are calling me off for the next 2 Mondays at least for low census.  So that means I'm down to one day a week, if I'm lucky.  More added stress for me.  I  try to hide it, but I am getting tired of hiding it.  I'm glad when Joey is around, at least it takes my mind off things.

Making Chocolate chip cookies now, and a flag cake for tomorrow.  Plus want to make a seafood pasta salad with shrimp, so that'll keep me busy for a while.  Joey and I decorated the windows this morning, looks cute.  Now he is off playing with his friends.

Margie:  Take it easy girlfriend.  Your tacos, reminded me to make a taco salad for tomorrow also.  I lost 7 lbs, so I can afford to gain 1 or 2 over the weekend eating all the goodies. LOL.  Hope you have a nice holiday.

Sherry:  Hope things works out at work, let us know.  Hope work isn't too bad today.  How's your dental problem?  Did the antibiotics kick in yet?  Prayers going out to you.  If you have time, could you print the Maddydoo's Dorito recipe?  Sounds really good, Joey and I like doritos.  Thanks.

Laura:  Glad to see your home.  Hope you had fun camping.

Lisa:  Save a pretzel stick for me girlfriend.  They sound good.

Waving to Tracie, Linda, Belle, Denise, Laura C, Darlene, Kathleen, Cherie, and anyone else I forgot!

Hope everyone has a wonderful day and weekend~

    Hugs,

    Hi Ladies

I tried to get on earlier today but kept getting side-tracked.  I had 3 extra kids over-night.  My 2 seven year old nephews, plus Donnie had a friend.  One nephew has gone home already but everyone else has been put to work getting ready for tomorrows party.   There is some grumbling about it from everyone except Tommy - he is a hard and willing worker, just like his Dad!

I am going to cook today for tomorrow. I did some last night too - made 1 ice cream cake and the tiny turkey meatballs.  Have to make pasta salad, taco dip, another ice cream cake, baked beans - also do laundry and clean up the house some.

Have to cut this short.  Donnie needs me to move the car so he can edge the lawn.

    Have a great day everyone

    Kathleen

It's turning out to be a gorgeous day.  Sunny, breezy and not too hot.  I did the final coats on the french doors and the bathroom window so 3 things down now and 3 windows and the bay window to go with painting, will stain our bedroom windows (4 in all).  Also tied tomatoes, picked blueberries, did laundry and now am baking cookies since it's not so hot.  Glad we are eating out, probably Panera.

Denise, supper sounds good, we're doing hot dogs tomorrow

Patti, enjoy your day and hope Royce enjoys his day off.

Lisa hope you have a great time at the lake.

Becky that is a lot of strawberries but I used to do that when we went picking plus the kids were around, made tons of freezer jam and froze a few and we ate the rest.  Kids loved to go picking with me.

Deb have fun getting ready for the cookout.  Glad it was a good game last night.

Laura, sounds like camping went well and nice you had a relaxing day yesterday at the campsite.  Have a good weekend

Theresa, sorry work is so slow.  We are thinking alike, I'm baking chocolate chip cookies too

Kathleen, sounds like a busy day prepping.  Nice you have the help, hopefully they are helpful.  :)

Well, need to get my cookies out of the oven

Wanted to stop in  and wish everyone a happy 4th of July.  We are going for a short camping trip to Walla Walla so I am getting some things put in the camper.  I made the Blueberry Buckle one of you posted.  We have some friends that will visit at the camp ground so that will be a yummy dessert to share with them.

It is really hot here today - I am seeing 103.  Hope there is lots of shade at the campground.

Sherry, hope the antibiotics are doing their job and the pain is lessening.

Visiting a big farmers market tomorrow in Walla Walla.  A girl that went to college with DD has relatives out here that have a cheese company.  She is going to be helping them with their booth so we'll say hi to her.

Cucumbers and butter beans sound really good, Margie.  One thing I have not been able to find out here are the Fordhook lima beans.  I like them so much better than the baby limas.

I better finish packing.  Have a great weekend ladies. - Sandra
