I'm MAD AS HECK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am mad as HECK.  Somebody came under our carport and stole our gas can full of gas.  We live about 50-60 feet from the road and we are fenced in on all 4 sides except for the driveway.  We're in a small village.   It was up against the benches we keep under the carport.  .  Boy the nerve.  Coming on our property, UNDER OUR CARPORT and doing that.  Makes me MAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   I told Hubby  I hope they got a hernia carrying that thing off.  I just hate the thought of people on our property like that. 

I don't blame you! I'm mad for you!  

I'm just glad you didn't "surprise" them...who knows what might have happened.

Live & learn.  We'll have to chain the next one to a post.  Sad to think of somebody walking on OUR property like that.  I wouldn't do that even if my life depended on it.

I feel your pain!  We've been broken into twice, most recently, Jan. 2008.  You feel so violated, knowing they went through your drawers and closets looking for loot. My DS has been a "victim" 5 times.  The one time was when he was about 14.  He and his cousin were spending the night at my inlaw's farm.  The boys were actually sleeping outside in a pick-up truck bed(don't ask me why, who knows why kids do some of the things they do)Anyway, 2 kids came in and stole their dirt bikes. They ended up getting them back.  It don't know if the kids were ever caught.

Hate to tell you this, but they will probably just siphon it into another can. 

Certainly understand your anger, Magnolia Trees.  I'm glad, however, that no confrontation took place.

Maybe you should install a light with a motion sensor. That would freak them out!

Things like that have happened in my neighborhood, and it's maddening to even hear about, let alone have it happen to you.  We've had rashes of hanging plants, front porch plants, and unlocked bikes being taken.  I'm leery of leaving anything loose/decorative out front.  Even Christmas decorations have been stolen!  Other neighborhoods have had plants ripped right from the ground & taken.  Maddening.

You used to be able to get motion lights that would send a wireless alarm to a box you plug into an outlet inside.  That alerts you to the fact that something tripped the light on outside, and you can get up to check.  Don't know for sure if they're still sold.

I know, you feel so violated when something like that happens.  Makes you wonder what else is going on out there while you are sleeping.

We had a  bandit in our driveway the other night.  I didn't know we had racoons.  He was a big one.

Someone kept taking my mom's gas can, but they would throw it back in the yard empty later on.  I had enough and instead of filling it with gas I filled it with diesel one day and left it out in the yard.  Sure enough they took the bait - the diesel filled gas can was gone and was back in the yard empty later on.  I threw that can away because I didn't want to contaminate my mom's lawnmower and bought a new one.  It was never stolen again.

Why not put a gate across the driveway. I know it is a pain to have to get out of the car and open it. but it would prevent such things from happening.

We had a padlocked gate when we had dogs.

That happened to my neighbor down the road...he got a new gas can, and filled it 50/50 with gas and water...it was stolen! hehehe!

 I sooooo sympathesize with you! It's almost as bad as if someone came into your house and attacked you. But theives like this almost never get caught. I'm afraid i'd be waiting the next time with a shotgun.

In my hometown in Michigan, a group of people have been stealing TIRES off peoples cars. 

People wake up, get ready to get in their cars, then see that it's sitting up on cinder blocks o_0

 It's been happening in residential homes, condo's and apartment complexes in both urban and rural areas.

Apparently the thieves are very quiet and very quick at what they do, because no one has seen them do it yet - not even when they are right outside their windows stealing their tires!

Unfortunately these days it doesn't matter where you live to have things like this happen.  We live in an upscale subdivision and people come in broad daylight and rifle through open garages, unlocked car, sometimes the car can be locked and windows broken.   We do have the Sheriff dept. patrol, but they cannot be here 24 hours a day.

Our homeowners association send us emails when such things happen, and last week on our street, someone broke into a house through a bathroom window in the back and went through the house and exited through the garage...during the day!  I keep all the doors locked even though I am home most of the time.

Some insist it is the economy forcing people to do this - I dispute that as it has been going for for a lot longer than that.
