    What's For Supper? Friday 7/3/09

Good afternoon y'all, is anyone going to be traveling this weekend or are you staying home?

We will be staying home, I am not going anywhere in this heat (102), I would love to go to see the fireworks tomorrow night but too hot & besides it is too crowded, although if we can just get near you can still see it pretty good.

Tomorrow DH will be grilling our lunch:   Rib eye steaks, zucchini & red onion.  Sounds so good & he does the steaks so well. We both like them with no pink & his are always juicy.

    Supper tonight will be:

    Corn on the cob

    Salad

That will be enough for us, will have ice cream later.

    Have a super 4th & be safe!!!!!!

    Hi Patty,

Wishing you a happy 4th and to those that follow.  We will be home for the 4th.  A small get together turned in to a large party with a band and cooking a whole pig with all the fixings. Boat parade at noon and fireworks at 9. about 200 people so tonight dinner will be grilled chicken breasts. corn on the cob, sliced tomatoes, cottage cheese and some kind of starch. After a nice cold glass of wine or beer.

So having a BBQ at the house I cooked my potatoes, macaroni and eggs in the middle of the night last night and they are cooling will get the salads made later today and have baby back ribs and beef ribs to grill tomorrow!.. kids and my dad will be here!  also supposed to be nearly 100 tomorrow so maybe we can find shade here too!  NO fireworks here.. I refuse to be the one to start a fire...we are tinder dry and I really fear the fireworks...will watch Boston and Seattle on TV!

Today temps supposed to be in low 100's TOO Hot for here...we will be dining on Ice Cream! I don't do this often but too hot to eat.. and that seems to set on the tummy when it is so warm....

DD is bringing a friend over later.  We'll be having baked rotini with meatballs and sauce on the side--DD doesn't eat meat; fruit salad, tossed salad, artesan bread with fresh herbs and oil for dipping.  And a sour cream chocolate cake.  And unless I miss my guess, DD and pal will probably get into the homemade creamsicle dixie cups I have in the freezer.

Tomorrow, we'll be going to a wedding reception at a cabin on the river.  I hear, that at the 'new' house, we can sit in our front yard and see the fireworks.  So I'm planning on making a few treats to share with the neighbors, and just hanging out at the house tomorrow evening after we get home from the afternoon do.

AKF, that is a wisw thing to get some things cooked up early, your meal sounds delish. Our county has a burn ban on but they are doing the fireworks in the country where they signed the Texas Declaration of independence.

Hi Callie, your meal sounds so good. Enjoy your time at the new place. I remember one timw when I visited my sister in Pittsburgh we went to her friends house to see the fireworks & there wasn't one obstacle in the way because we were up on the hill, it was beautiful.

    Hi Patty and everyone,

I splurged yesterday and bought some shrimp.  I would just love to spend a week along a coast where shrimp is fresh and plentiful and have the ability to eat, eat, eat all I desire!!  We will be having Shrimp Scampi and Shrimp skewers with angle hair pasta and garden fresh salad.   (a chicken breast for DS).

Tomorrow was DH's scheduled Saturday to work, so he volunteered to go ahead and work todaySad  The extra $$$ is always a good thing though.  The kiddos and I will go to a festival in a small town close by and watch the firework display that I've heard is awesome!  I'm hoping DH won't be too tired to join us for the fireworks!

Hope everyone has a safe and wonderful weekend!

Hi Sue, I love shrimp too, when we go to Corpus Christy I have to get the shrimp, haven't been there in too long.

I like to make it like Ina--Barefoot Contessa,  clean & devein then sprinkle with salt, pepper, garlic powder(I do that) & add a little oil. Bake at 400 degrees for 8-12 minutes. mmmmmm!!!

Hope DH can go with you tomorrow evening.

Hey Patty!  You can keep that Texas heat!  Come on up to NY, you'll be freezing!

We're going to a parade and then to fireworks.  I packed us a picnic supper, with cold sandwiches on fresh kaiser rolls, chips & soda....Oreo's for dessert!

    Have a great holiday!

Fruit salad.  Mom bought too much damme fruit again, so... On lettuce with a pile of cottage cheese in the middle.  Butter crackers as desired.

Tomorrow is grilled chicken, grilled corn on the cob, and potato salad.  If it rains, we're still having chicken, corn and potato salad.

Rotisserie chicken from Sam's and somethime else.  May just have it alone because I'm not too hungry anyway.  I bought some Icee push-ups and some Ice cream sandwiches for dessert.  The Icees are so good since it's so darned hot again.

I think I'm going swimming this evening if  there aren't too many kids in the pool.  I'm not going now because it's 99.  Think I'll wait until it cools off a bit.
