    Congratulations, Alaska! Palin quits!

This is going to get really, really funny. Wonder what she's up to now?

WASILLA, Alaska -- Gov. Sarah Palin will resign her office in a few weeks, she said during a news conference at her home Friday morning.

Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell will be inaugurated at the Governor's Picnic at the end of the month, Palin said.

There was no immediate word as to why she will resign, though speculation has been rampant that the former vice presidential candidate is gearing up for a run at the 2012 Republican presidential nomination.

One of two things.  She is either just fed up and wants her own personal life with no more problems,  OR  she is going to start campaigning for Pres in 2012.  Would not surprise me.  She still has a huge following and has the guts and stamma to challenge.  Do I think she would be a good Pres,  not sure.  Would I vote for her,  not sure again.  It's a long time away,  but then again it isn't.   Depends who the Rep stands behind and nominates. I would never vote for her just becouse she is a women.

This is weird.....I hit "Post" and my reply went *poof* instead.

It doesn't much matter how she leaves, at least she'll be out of office. I really went back and forth this election, I had doubts about whether or not Obama would do a good job so I wanted to vote for McCain. But the idea of Palin being VP made me cringe. I spent a lot of time trying to decide which would be the lesser of two evils: Obama as Prez or Palin stepping into the role if something happened to McCain.

Her bruhaha with Letterman is over and she has not been in the "national" limelight for a week or so.. this is probably just another stunt on her part!  She also knows that she will NEVER win another term in Alaska so maybe easier to "quit" than to lose!  amazing tho how Chan 2 is the ONLY station reporting this.. none of the other stations or papers have anything  other than her "Lame Duck Award"

The on-line news story I saw, said she's not running for re-election...sounds like she forced someone out of office (maybe someone who's worked in the 'health' section of government in Anchorage) but she's not quitting...just not running again when her term is up.  Which story is true...quitting now or not running again?

I think it's the first Cassie - she says she can be more effective outside of politics....in other words, she's out of politics.   I never really cared for her, but I can't say I blame her.

CNN has actually put aside MJ and have been talking about this for the past half hour!

Even if she's still operating under the delusion that she's President material, it's really a stupid move to even announce that you're not seeking reelection, let alone resigning. Nothing like taking the 'experience' factor off your resume and adding 'quitter'!

Maybe she wants her own reality TV show; she certainly functions at that level. Or maybe FOX wants to give her her own show! A late-night comedy show!

    The possibilities are endless...

CNN started out saying that, in fact I even posted as such on this thread, but deleted my post when they then announced she was resigning.

I heard there will be an open Senate seat in Alaska and speculation is that she is planning to run for that.
