    CookieG:

I heard there will be an open Senate seat in Alaska and speculation is that she is planning to run for that.

Even if that's true, it's still a very stupid move politically to just up and quit.

There have been rumors of more ethics charges against her, but I can't see that would be enough to make her throw in the towel... unless it's something really REALLY big. Such an abrupt resignation often means there's scandal afoot. But time will tell, I suppose...

Her brother just talked live to Fox News on the phone and he said it's because she's tired of spending 80% of her time & thousands of $$$$$$$$$$ defending herself against too many accusations to count.  She felt like it wasn't fair to her state or it's people to keep having to do that when she should be dealing with the needs of her state.

If she is running for 2012 some saying it's a mistake and some saying it's a great move.  We'll see.

I can't wait to read the transcript of her press conference or see it on YouTube. Even some people who were/are her fans are saying she was babbling and practically incoherent, acting like she was having a breakdown or something. We'll probably only see a few seconds of it on the evening news, so I'll have to wait until it's loaded somewhere to see what it was really like.

How on earth does this woman think she could have been VP or, God forbid, President if she can't take the heat now? No... there's got to be more to this.

Martha M, before I even came to the website just now, DH told me heard this news on the radio.  My reply to him was the same as what you wrote here - "She probably wants her own reality show."

AK FisherGirl, from your posts now and back during the pre-election period last fall, I can see that one of my family members was dead wrong when he said "But the people in Alaska JUST LOVE HER!!!"

I just want her to go away.  She loves nothing more than being in the public eye and having attention focused on her.  I want her 15 minutes of laughable fame to be over.  Alaska deserves better.

This is from the Washington Post – the comments are quite interesting J

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will resign her office later this month, according to several sources familiar with her decision, freeing her to build a national political team and travel the country in support of an expected 2012 presidential bid.

The first term governor is stepping down "so that she can take the fight for her issues elsewhere," according to a Palin aide.

There's no way someone can resign from a position saying that there's too much media scrutiny and then seek an even higher office that involves even MORE scrutiny. Basically, she's admitting she doesn't have the right stuff.

But I still think there's way more to this story that we don't know yet...

Well if she can't take the heat aren't we glad she isn't stepping down from the vice pres spot had she been elected.

I found this article interesting -

    http://www.adn.com/palin/story/852044.html

One of the state's top public health officials says she was forced out of office because Gov. Sarah Palin felt she wasn't in step on social issues.

Beverly Wooley, who has worked more than 20 years in public health in Alaska, most of it with the municipality of Anchorage, ended her stint as state public health director on Wednesday.
