I just watched her 7-minute rambling resignation on YouTube... the woman has clearly lost it. Out of breath, jumping from one incomplete thought to the next. Basketball. MacArthur. People insulting Trig. Getting out of politics. The troops. Blah Blah Blah.

WHAT was she talking about??? SNL doesn't have to bring back Tina Fey to spoof this... they can just replay the real thing. It was hilarious.

    The woman has issues.

I believe the most likely reason is that she spends up to 80% of her time defending herself on ethics charges that are BS. This has been ongoing and she ran for governor so that she could do that job. If she is constantly defending herself she CANNOT do that job.Personally I would agree that ia a good reason to step down. I felt that is why President Clinton should have stepped down as well as why these governors who have been caught cheating in the last month should step down. You simply cannot do the job if you are constantly dealing with the media. I do think that she will try to receive the nomination for 2012 and would love to see her on the ticket. As for her record as governor I think it was excellent. She brought up the mess that President Obama and the democrats in Congress are getting us into and I think that may be a sign that she will run for that Senate seat. She cannot change it being governor of Alaska.

Having said that, there is always the possability that the reason she is steppign down has absolutely nothing to do with politics. She could have an illness that needs to be treated, or have to deal with family issues.

As for the comments that it is all about being in the public eye. I find her much more real than Senator Obama who never did a thing politically except get himself elected. Martha is is nto that she has had scrutiny but been visciously attacked. There is no way that Letterman could have said what he did about Chelsea Clinton and gotten away with it in the media like he did with Governor Palin's daughter.

Great statement Cooking71!   It is so very true .... there is a double standard when it comes to liberals and conservatives.

Actually, I think any of the people who ran for president could have done a better job than Obama seems to be doing.  He is running this country into the ground and it is our children/grandchildren who will be paying the heaviest price for it.

Palin rambled?  Incoherent?  I don't quite think so!  At least she can talk 'off the top of her head' .... she doesn't have to have a teleprompter and a 'scripted' Town Hall meeting.

That's all I have to say on the matter ..... I just find it so amazing that 'excuses' are made for liberals, and judgements are made on conservatives.

    Try googling "Palin teleprompter".

That was one of the first things that occurred to me, especially since she never did release her health records during the campaign. But if that were the case, then why deliver that embarassing speech? Why not just cite personal reasons and then explain as much or as little as she wanted to about that later? It just doesn't sound right, but then... this is Sarah Palin, and she has some rather odd notions when it comes to politics.

I don't think she was incoherent either...she did go on rather, but then she always does, and that is one of the reason I don't care for her - I prefer the Readers' Digest version.

You know what's sad?  I read some posts here, by the same person, she said "This is going to get really funny!" Then in another post, "It's like she's having a breakdown!"  You know, people with a sense of humor like that is what really frightens me.
