Talk about bad choices for VP, look who we have right now! Really, was that the best Obama could come up with? Every time he opens his mouth his foot is in it. I don't think his elevator goes clear to the top....one straw short of a bale. So bad choices are made on both sides of the fence or are some of you implying otherwise? LIz

Any bets on when she will announced a fund raiser for her legal defense team???

I don't know, but maybe a 'Defend Sarah!' ad will take the place of the SarahPac ad that shows up to the right every time I come into this thread. What a riot! Big Smile

Found this tidbit in the AM paper.

At one point she invoked a military leader in what seemed to be an effort to wave aside any suggestion that she was abandoning the fight.  "In the words of General MacArthur, she said....'We're not retreating. We are advancing in another direction.'

The quotation actually is attributed to another Korean War commander, Maj. Gen. Oliver P Smith of the US Marines.

Fishergirl I cannot believe you posted a blog as a source. If someone did that about President Obama you and many others would be on them like white on rice about making sure the FACTS were true first.

Gameball children are off limits and that applies to all candidates. Even duing the Clinton scandles their daughter was never rbought into it. The media has a double standard and appearantly so does Letterman. For someone who was just a governor there sure is constant interest in what she does. no other former candidate has gone through this. Seems to me that it continues because people are afraid of what she can accompish. And before anyones says something about tearing the country down, President Obama is already well on the way to doing that.

Ladyfingers the only reason Hillary stayed with Bill all these years is because of her own ambition. So yes in her case she rode his coat tails.

Tit for tat. Isn't that how its done here? You say something against my guy/girl,I say something against yours? Just playing along.

Or perhaps its just a knee-jerk reaction. The dems on this board must have rubbed off on me a bit.  Say something negative about Obama or question his word in any way,and what do we hear?

Come on...say it with me everyone.....

    BUSH!

So,again,if the dems are going to throw punches, dont expect a few back..

    Nice to meet you,kettle.

I don't know the exact date but McCain did indeed joke about Chelsea Clinton's looks when she was much younger and her mother was Janet Reno, or some such nonsense.

The argument is, it's never the right thing to do or say, but it happens on both sides....therein lies a double standard. Both party's are guilty of it & neither are amusing.

Renee that was uncalled for and I do remember it. However, the media called him on it. The difference is that when Letterman "apologized" the apology itself was a joke. not that it was insincere but an actual joke. Nor did the media jump on him. Add in the media has down it's fair share of pulling the kids into this on a fairly regular basis.

Ah, I see, MOMTJLK, you've decided you should be as bad as the worst you encounter.  Because somehow that will improve things, no doubt.

It's a good thing this is a cyber "discussion" or one would witess  pulling hair, scartching, screaming  and fisticuffs. And all over a small town mayor who did or did not do something that was not kosher.

Even if Palin would have been an independant, I would not have liked her, she rubbed me the wrong way the first time I saw and heard her. Call it a primitive instinct but I had no use for her, no matter what party she represneted. I also was not a big Hillary or Obama fan.

So, I will sit back and see what happens when the bubble bursts for e real.

EDITED to erase the word "hair, I had typed it twice.

    Re: Congratulations, Alaska! Palin quits!

Reading her blog entry today, it's clear... there's something really, really, really wrong with this woman. She sure does love playing the victim, doesn't she? Poor Sarah; she doesn't have what it takes and it's everyone else's fault!

The funniest part is when she babbles about Washington and the media not undertanding. . . ummm, Sarah? I bet most of America doesn't have a clue what you're up to, either!

First, I want to thank you for your support and hard work on the values we share. Those values led me to the decision my family and I made. Yesterday, my family and I announced a decision that is in Alaska’s best interest and it always feels good to do what is right. We have accomplished more during this one term than most governors do in two – and I am proud of the great team that helped to build these wonderful successes. Energy independence and national security, fiscal restraint, smaller government, and local control have been my priorities and will remain my priorities.

For months now, I have consulted with friends and family, and with the Lieutenant Governor, about what is best for our wonderful state. I even made a few administrative changes over that course in time in preparation for yesterday. We have accomplished so much and there’s much more to do, but my family and I determined after prayerful consideration that sacrificing my title helps Alaska most. And once I decided not to run for re-election, my decision was that much easier – I’ve never been one to waste time or resources. Those who know me know this is the right decision and obvious decision at that, including Senator John McCain. I thank him for his kind, insightful comments.

The response in the main stream media has been most predictable, ironic, and as always, detached from the lives of ordinary Americans who are sick of the “politics of personal destruction”. How sad that Washington and the media will never understand; it’s about country. And though it's honorable for countless others to leave their positions for a higher calling and without finishing a term, of course we know by now, for some reason a different standard applies for the decisions I make. But every American understands what it takes to make a decision because it’s right for all, including your family.

I do believe were beating a dead horse. We all see her and what she said differently. She is full of self, some of it understandable, some of it out there in left field to do her baseball talk. I couldn't handle the insults she received. I'm thin skinned ,she might be to. I just don't like piling on. Unless it's on RUSH now there's a guy who is such a blow hard and so full of bull. Lately he has lost the ability to think about what he is saying. I mean he goes to stupid talk, not funny, not sarcastic, just stupid.

Well if not liking  Palin and not having been a big Hillary or Obama fan is being a member of  the  herd then I am as guilty as most .

I voted for the "Energizer Bunny" once and back in the 70s wore a button that said: Snoopy for President and Lucy for First Lady.

No matter who wins an election I will TRY to give a new presdient two years to "get his legs under him". I would not want the the thankless job because you can NEVER satisfy all the people all the time.

    Reading her blog entry today

I didn't even know Palin had a blog.  Then I read farther and realized it's on FaceBook.  A place I thought some folks have no interest in reading/posting.  While I happen to post there, seeking out what SP has posted there is the least of my concerns.

Some days, I can literally see the testosterone floating in the air around here.
