Happy 4th of July CS's Chat

              HBUSA_Happy4thMTbySusan-vi.gif picture by katz0556

    • Very quiet 4th for me and the dogs.  Bob is working so my main problem will be keeping all firecracker sounds from Shorty.  He gets double pay so it is really no big deal.  Plus the extra cash will come in handy.  Especially since he had to buy a new riding lawn mower today.  The mower deck had rusted out on the Troy and it was $350 for a new one so we went shopping today.  Good news is he will just take the deck off the Troy and use it more as a golf cart to take food to the chickens in the back.  4th of July sales come in handy sometimes.

    • Thought for the Day-Our greatest happiness does not depend on the condition of life in which chance has placed us, but is always the result of a good conscience, good health, occupation, and freedom in all just pursuits. Thomas Jefferson

    • Today is The Fourth of July, the birthday of our nation. Today, we celebrate and enjoy the freedom that comes with the event that made this day so special.

    •  Thomas Jefferson, is the author of the Declaration of Independence. He led a committee that crafted the declaration between June 11-28, 1776. Jefferson and other discontented representatives from the thirteen colonies, voted and approved it on July 4, 1776. The document declared freedom for the 13 colonies from British rule. It currently resides in the Exhibition Hall of the National Archive in Washington, D.C.

    • Did you know? The Declaration of Independence was not signed by all representatives until August, 1776. To make it official, John Hancock, President of the Continental Congress signed it. Now, can anyone guess where the saying "put your John Hancock on it" came from!?!

    • Today, we enjoy the benefits of the freedom which the framers signed and ultimately fought for. For us, it is a time for baseball, hot dogs and family picnics. Summer is in full swing and life is good.

    • Fourth of July is not complete without parades and fireworks. Fireworks are enjoyed by almost everyone. You should have your choice of several locations in your area on the Fourth, or even the day before.  Many cottage owners on lakes will set out flares along the shore creating a "Ring of Fire". Add to this an abundance of fireworks, and you have quite a display.
    •  Happy Birthday, America!!!!!

    • Special hugs and prayers for Anne, Sherry, Betty, Gat and Jeanette, Grace, and Sally and Colleen.

    • Remember the group prayer! “Heavenly Father, we ask that you watch over and care for all Cookin’ Seniors and those they love as they go about their day!!”

    • Hugs

    • Zora

    • Today song is, naturally, “The Star Spangled Banner”!!  Lets all stand with our hand over our hearts and sing all 4 verses

    • Here is the first verse to get ya started!!

    • Oh, say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thro' the perilous fight'
O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming.
And the rockets’ red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say, does that Star Spangled Banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

    • I am so glad every one enjoy the music yesterday.  Neil Diamond’s special is going to be on CBS, I believe.  Either that or Fox but one of the local stations anyway.  Not cable.

    • Rosie-What wonderful memories can be stirred up with some of the songs.  So Rosie’s hospital is open for another week, DD must be getting excellent care!!

    • Jeane-Send your computer guy to Mable.  Maybe he can get hers straight!!

    • Mabel-Do you have a Best Buy Geek Squad close to you?? And they will come to your house and connect the computer for you right.  I think if you buy the computer from them it is a reasonable charge.  Wish I was close enough to help you with it.

    • NancyB-Shorty does the same thing with the rain.  If it is raining out the back door, he will go to the front door just to make sure it is raining out there too before he goes out.

    • Helen-Did you get a nap??

    • Sandy-Poor Baby!!! LOL

    • Beverly-LOL at the horse!!

    • Tippy-Enjoy the festivities as a clown!!

    • Penny-Sounds like the DDs are doing much better!!

    • Pat-Sorry the visit didn’t come off as planned!!

    • Cilla-Brenda is right!! You do need a day or more off.  Tell DB if he does give you some help while he is here.  He may have to come back because you are in the hospital.

    • Brenda-Shorty is doing the happy dog dance that Chipper is doing OK now.

    • Joyce-So good to see you!!

    • Merle-Glad you are back too!! Gentle hugs and prayers for your Grace.  Hope your bug bite is better.

    • Don’t forget to send up special prayers for Odell for his surgery Monday.

    • Waving at Leisa!!

    • Hugs

I still don't know if the parade will happen - it isn't raining yet.  Whoops!  Here it comes!  Tonight is the big fireworks display downtown on the river where people on both sides of the river can see and hear it - aptly called "Red, white, and boom."  I believe I heard it is an $80,000 deal - and sponsered by a hospital.

Zora, hope Shorty makes it through the noise and that the chickens don't panic.  You have a nice, quiet day.  Nancy B

A lone rooster sends his wake up call pealing across the country side. Grackles chirrup  sleepily high in the tree tops. With a flash of light a car speeds past to some unknown destination. The moons pale light has faded as the old cliche, "darkest before dawn" as set in. It was a warm 79° at four this morning, causing trickles of sweat to slip down the sides of my face, pooling behind the lens of my glasses.

Re: Happy 4th of July CS's Chat

Good morning, Happy 4th to each of you. Hope you have a great day. Our day is still open for suggestions. DD and family are going out of town to visit DSIL's relatives. They will be gone for the day. DS, well who knows he sorta goes with the flow, but somehow always seems to be around at meal time. Won't complain, he is my go to guy when I need something done. Ain't life grand.

Zora - Guess you won't see Bob much between work and a new mower. We don't have a lot of firecrackers going off here. Pretty quiet road. Mostly older people down this way now. Will have to pass on the singing, don't know what I did with the money mama gave me for singing lessons.

Margaret E. - Have a great visit with DD and enjoy the day.

Cilla - Will visit the sites as soon as I finish here. Can't wait to hear Faith Hill. Hope you have a terrific day.

Sandy - Waving back at you!!

Nancy B. - Wow, bet that is some fireworks display. Hope you get to enjoy some of it.

Beverly - Love watching the Dream performance's.

Nancy Z. - Happy 4th to you also. Enjoy your day.

Sitting here watching my hummers flitter around. I can see one of my feeders out the window. I love watching them.

    Happy 4th to all -

Zora, will  you drive the golf cart/mower too?

Brenda, seems like we always have to 'go with the flow' with the kids.  Days fill up anyway!

A GF is planning to come up here...we'll have Angus burgers, potato salad, baked beans, & strawberries...she hadn't heard from her son & DIL yet last night, but if they show up, there will be plenty to eat!

Hey, Leisa.....come on down.  We'll accomodate your diet requirements & have some laughs!

    Waving to all - Helen

    Good morning everyone!

Zora ~ Had to laugh about sending computer guy to Mabel. I'm not looking fwd to fireworks either as Eddie was really hyper last year for them(didn't mind them before that for whatever reason). Hope he's better this year and hope Tallie(puppy) isn't hyper, too, or it will be a 3-ring circus here.

Helen ~ I could go for that menu that you and your GF are having today.....simple, but good.

Waving to Margaret, Cilla, Sandy, Beverly, Nancy Z, Nancy B, Brenda and all others who drop in today.

It's a beautiful day here. The sunny with a lovely breeze blowing and coolish temps and is supposed to be round 80 later on in the day. I have been concerned with these cool temps and lots of rain about crops though and yest the did mention that the tomatoe farmers are having problems with some sort of blight from these conditions.

Nothing much planned for today. Everyone except Charlie and I are away for the weekend so we will probably just kick-back and take it easy for the day after getting the odd jobs out of the way. Eddie Dog seems to love having a companion. He and Tallie have been play-fighting constantly, but the tails are wagging furiously while they do it Smile.

Hope all have a nice holiday. Hugs and prayers for those who need them.

    Jeane
