    Good Morning!

Waiting for the coffee, so grab a mug and share this huge pot of coffee with me!! Happy 4th of July to all of you too!! Thank you for the prayers for Mom.

I am not sure what all is going on with Mom, but yesterday in the ER, the nurse found a hugs lump on her breast. It was under her breast, where you don't really feel or notice that it is there.  It could be a cyst, but when I felt it, it was very hard.  Now, her legs are bothering her and she has difficulty walking. Yesterday when we were getting ready for Walmart and had to go out in the garage and down the two steps, her legs just would not move and Ron and I had a difficult time getting her back into the house and back up the steps again.  That is when I called the ambulance as I felt there had to be something more going on here with her and that she needed to be checked out. I don't know what is happening today.  I want her to go to a nursing home for a short time, to gain back her strength, but with medicare and guide lines, I might have  to bring her home and have in home care.  I made it very clear, that I wanted her to go to the nursing home for a short time as I felt it would be better care for her and better for all of us all around.  If she can't walk, how can she come home or how would we get her to an appoinmtment or worse yet, out of the house in an emergency?? I don't think physically, I am up to taking care of someone,24/7.....very difficult decisions here.  And I do  have to consider Ron's health too.  Even though he has been doing well, I sure don't want anything to happen to him.  See what today brings...

Wishing you ALL A GREAT 4th of July weekend!!!

    Mary

Mary – I'm so sorry to hear about your mother.  I hope it isn't anything serious and she gets released soon.  Please keep us posted.  Prayers to all of you.  My sister-in-law had to put her father in a nursing home recently because he couldn't walk.  I don't think there was any problem with Medicare.  You are right, that would be so hard on you to take care of her like she would need.

    Happy Fourth of July everybody.

Hauke – As always, your words for the holiday are beautiful.

It is cloudy here this morning and they are predicting rain.  I'm going to go to the parade as long as it isn't raining hard.

Good morning and a happy Independce Day to all.

Mary...Hugs and many prayers going up for you and your mom.  I know how difficult a situation your in.  I'm sure your exhausted.  You've been so involved with her daily care and watching over her.  Don't let them rush her home.  Speak to the Social Worker and see what can be done.  Even if it's only a reprise.  I'm sure with her age, conditions and previous history, they can come up with reason to keep her.  I get so very upset when I think how they just decide that one can care for another without help.  Let them know about Ron also.  Maybe, your daughter or son can go with you when you speak to them. I found that a second interested party often helps..

I will pray for you all.  Let us know how things are going.  I'll keep a pot of tea and coffee on for you if you need some

    Love and hugs.....Lorraine

Re: DC Conversation - Weekend, July 4-5

    Good Morning all,

Mary, our thoughts and prayers are with you as you make some very difficult decisions.  Prayers also to your Mom, as she probably is quit frightened at what all is happening to her.  Having been thru this twice, I think you'll find that the professionals will give you as much help as possible.  May God bless you all.

Well, so far it's a cool, rainy, gloomy 4th of July.  Our high today is supposed to be 76°.  The parade may have been cancelled ~~ although if it quits raining, the remainder of the events should go off as scheduled.  The most important being the City Band concert and fireworks tonight.  I do hope the sun comes out, as we're planning on grilling steaks for dinner tonight, and we love being out on the deck.  May all your plans for today be fun and successful.

Tomorrow is a very nice Art Fair and Craft Show in DeKalb, IL.  It is held on the grounds of the mansion that was once owned by the creator of 'barbed wire' and is referred to as Elwood House.  SIL and I are planning on going ~~ perhaps if we talk nice, our DH's will go with us.  We'll see.

Hope you all have a wonderful Holiday, whatever your plans.

Re: DC Conversation - Weekend, July 4-5

Happy July 4th all.  hauke, thanks for putting into words such a nice tribute to our great land.

Mary, chiming in with the others-you have some tough decisions coming up.  I hope the medical profession comes through for you as regards future care of your mom.

Lorraine, do you have dgs this weekend, I can't remember.  Will there be fireworks in your area today?

Sandy, that's too bad the parade had to be cancelled.  We are overcast, but no rain in sight, so I'm sure all the local parades went off without a hitch.  Our big fireworks were last night, but several of the small towns in the area will have theirs tonight.  We'll be able to see some from the windows at work tonight.

Joyce, did you make it to the parade?  I bet your yard looks festive with your holiday flags out.  One of our regular customers brought us in red, white and blue beads last night. We all looked so festive!!  We are allowed to wear holiday tee shirts on the various holiday weekends, so we are really stylin'!!

I spent a very busy week this past week.  I thouroughly cleaned the house in preparation for my db and sil visit on Wed.  They were only here for lunch and only stayed a couple of hours, but I still ended up with a clean house.

We got our MiFi on Tues. and we're still trying to figure it out.  We are connected to the smallest notebook, but have been unable to connect without using the cable.  Thus, we can't get the other notebook in wireless yet.  But, it sure is nice having hi speed.  Makes such a difference when using the interenet.

This coming Tues I am having an EGD scope done.  For a few years, I've had trouble swallowing some of the time.  And a couple of times it has been severe enought to scare Danny.  I spent a couple of hours on the phone last week making sure that I had coverage for the proceedure and hopefully the cause will be found.

Time for lunch and a shower than off to spend the holiday at my almost favorite place!!LOL  We will be pretty slow tonight, so will end up doing cleaning, I'm sure.

    Later all.

    Deb

Happy 4 Th everyone!!    We are just gonna stay inside where it is cool, made some potato salad yesterday so have the usual picnic things to go with it.

I woke up this morning to the smell of oatmeal cookies baking so had a couple with coffee while Sue finished baking them, nice to have Sue to cook for me.

Mary I am sorry to hear about Mom, it is a good idea to put her in a home, we went through that with my Mom and medicare let her stay in for 21 days then we had to decide what to do and it was so hard because neither Barb's house or mine would work for her wheel chair (which she had been in for a long time) so my brother who had no steps at his house took her and we took some of Mom's savings and built on a bathroom for her.

She cried for months because she had to leave her home and she wanted to go to either Barb's or my house, even if my house didn't have steps there is no medical avalable as it is 30 miles to the hospital and for an ambulance to get here.   My sis in law took excellent care of her and she stayed there until she died ,     Barb and I felt so guilty for not taking her.

When she first got sick I went down (it is 340 miles from here to her home) and stayed 3 months and I had a terribe time as she needed 24/7 care Barb lives near there but she was working and came when she could, my DSIL came a couple of times and during that time I came home for a week as Laurie was still home, my other DS came while I was gone but she couldn't handle it and was out the door as soon as I got back so it was a trying time,   She wouldn't have home health come in so it was up to us.

You probably didn't need to hear all that but I wanted you to know that I know what you are going through and you are going to feel guilt what ever you do.

On a brighter note~~~~I have a new great grandson, born July 2 just missed my B D by a few hours.   His name is Samuel Joseph (Sammy Jo)  and he has black curley hair.   This is their first they have been married 4 years and have been wanting to get p g but it took its time to happen.  He is 3 weeks early she was having some problems and was in labor over 24 hours so they finally done a c section as they found the baby was turned wrong.

Sandy have fun at the Arts and Crafts show, there is one at the Dam today and a lot of other stuff going on but we aren't going it is just too hot.    We went across the river yesterday to a garage sale at a friends and it wa 97 and there were so many people waiting for the ferry that it took us 2 trips to get on and we were the last car to get on I got a little worried when the ferry operater yelled " set your hand break Marge"    LOL

Deb I hope you get your tests all done w/o problems with you insurence, I really hate dealing with them, like with Walt on his disability for his shoulder surgery we filled out the forms then the Dr filled out his part but they sent it back because where it said how long will be be unable to work and the Dr wrote "unknown" I called them and they said he should have put down the date he filled out the form and then they would send another form when the Dr was ready to release him .

Joyce sunbathing--- Boy are you gonna have some rosey "cheeks"   LOL

Nancy wish I could send some of this heat to you and to Hauke I can't believe the difference in our weather than in yours as you aren't that far away and in the Winter we are usually pretty close in temps.     I will try and send some up or you would probably rather have some from Seattle area with the rain.

Well to the rest of you I will say Hello again I don't know how to look back at the posts while I am on so don't remember who said what unless I write it all down.

Also wanted to tell you that I am having problems with the computer and don't know if it is because Sue is using it or what,     I have to sign in every time I go on line for my e mail and when I go to post here it will kick me off and have to sign in again.

I need to get off here and take in some shirts , to fit my arms they are too big else where.

Oh by the way I finished the quilt top I was making. later I am going to put a movie on to watch while I put the labels on the baby quilts as I know his name now so will finish those and take them to Oregon with me.   I am glad she had him before I left so I can get to see him and spoil him a little.

I will check in sometime this weekend.     Marge

Re: DC Conversation - Weekend, July 4-5

Happy Holiday to everyone from another hot day in GA.  Today seems like Sunday to me since it has been so long since I have had a Saturday off.  Tom said what's tomorrow going to seem like.  LOL.

Can't believe I'm getting 3 Saturdays off in a row.  Only because I've got a whole week of vacation.  They cannot make you work the Sat before or after a full week of vacation.  That's where they were cheating me on days.  They tried making me work July 18 & per the contract that's a no-no.

Not much going on today.  Tom is out trying to build a ramp out of concrete for the shed since the plywood he had out there is rotting.  He thinks he has to get all this work done in case the Dr decides to the surgery in the next month or so.  I missed the Dr's call Thurs afternoon & when I called back yesterday they were closed for the holiday.  So will call first thing Monday morning.

Well, I need to do a bit of mending.  Didn't tell Tom that, he would have laughed "you?"  ROFL!  I've got a couple of tops that the v-neck is too low for me so I got some buttons to close the neckline some.  Doesn't take much of a low neckline to show what I don't want to show.

Y'all have a good day.  Hugs and Prayers for All, Roberta :D

Boy, did the weather man have our forecast messed up.  It is 3:00pm here and still raining, with the temperature only at 66°.  The rain is now supposed to continue throughout the evening.  I am really concerned about our fireworks!!!

Marge, congratulations on the new baby in the family.  After waiting all that time, I'll bet Mom and Dad are thrilled to death.  What fun!  Oh, and thank you for telling Mary of the guilt she will be dealing with, no matter what decisions are made.  I forgot about that, but it surely does happen.

Deb, you and Danny sure have had your share of health problems.  What is an EGD???  Whatever it is, it doesn't sound fun.  Hope the test comes out O.K. and it's nothing serious.  Well, my plans for the craft show tomorrow have suddenly changed.  My SIL isn't feeling well (perhaps something with her pace-maker?), and she doesn't feel like going anywhere.  DH isn't interested in going, so, unless DD#1 want to join me, I may be going alone.  It's a short drive, and I could possibly be over and back in 1-1½ hours.  There is really only one booth I want to see anyway ~~ a girl from DeKalb makes bracelets/watches using the handles from silverware!  I've seen a bracelet, and want to see  her complete line of jewelry.  I've been wanting to catch up with her for 3 years, but my health problems kept it from happening.  She finally sent me a brochure with a list of all the shows she will do this year.

Well, I think I'll take advantage of the cool weather, and get some ironing done.  'til later........

Sandy – If I lived closer to you, I would go to the art fair and craft show with you.  It sounds like a lot of fun.  I hope you have a good time.

Deb – Yes, I did make it to the parade.  I always enjoy it.  I think my yard looks very nice with all my flags up.  I bet you all looked so good with all your festive beads and t-shirts on.  I'm sorry your brother and his wife didn't get to stay longer, but at least you did get to have lunch with them.  I sure hope the scope test goes okay and they find out what is going on with you, so they can fix it.

Marge – I almost made some potato salad since it is a holiday but I decided I didn't need it in my house, especially since it is just me eating it.  What a wonderful thing to wake up to the smell of fresh-baked cookies.  Yummy.  How wonderful about the new baby.

Roberta – Enjoy your weekend off.  I used to work an occasional Saturday, but don't have to now and I really enjoy that.

I did make it to the parade this morning.  It started raining just as the parade was ending.  It's been raining off and on ever since.  They just announce don the news that the fireworks are postponed until tomorrow.
I did get my exercise equipment together, but something isn't right.  I was going to call the customer service number but I figured they weren't working today.  So I'll call Monday.

Marge, Congradulations on the brand new Great Grandson!!!  Thank you for all your kind words and support...I am sure glad I have all of you to talk to.

Mom was not discharged from the hospital and will stay there a few more days, then go to PineCrest for therapy and the the lump in her breast has to be surgurically removed, so she might be there for awhile.  I am very relieved that she was not released today, yet I wonder too, if she will get home again.. She seems antsy and restless.

I want to thank you ALL for your support, kind words and prayers..It means alot to me. We went back to the hospital tonight for a little while.  Ron went along and he gets antsy, so we didn't stay that long...tomorrow AM I will go to see her myself....

      Thanks Again Everyone,

July 4th is wrapping up and I haven't heard any bangs since I've been home from work.

Marge, congratulations on your new GGS!  Sammy Jo is a very cute name and makes him seem happy-go-lucky!!!!  How nice to awaken to the smell of freshly made cookies!

Roberta, how is the ramp building going?  I am sure you will enjoy your extra Sats off!!  Since I work Sats, I totally understand you appreciating having them off.   LOL at the low neckline showing what you don't want shown.

Sandy, that is too bad that the weather refused to cooperate on the 4th.  Were they able to shoot off the fireworks?  An EGD is a scope of the espghogus(sp?).  I'm thinking it's the reverse of a colonoscopy without the nasty prep!!LOL  They said the only prep for this is a 12 hr fast.  Now, that I can do!  I've heard about the jewelry made from silverware handles, but haven't seen any.  I hope you make it to the flea market so you can get some.

Joyce, nice of Mother Nature to hold off until the parade ended!!  I agree with you about not calling customer service on a holiday weekend.  I need to call Verizon customer service about the MiFi, but am holding out until Monday.

Mary, I'm glad they are keeping your mom for a few more days.  Also that she will then go to a nursing home for therapy.   It doesn't do me any good to take Danny to a hospital to visit since he gets as antsy as Ron does.

Rebecca, did you have to work on the 4th?  How are Paige and the boys?

Time to relax and play some games.  Later all.

    Deb
