He has lived in the same rural area all his life. I'm also distant kin to him. Our relatives go back to the late 1700's on that area. Mr. Byron has written a family history book and he has written a lot of stories about growing up in the area.
I worked in the local hardware store about 30 years ago when I was in high school. My Byron would come in and chat with us. There used to be a family in town with 2 or 3 boys who were not "right" mentally. Their family didn't help the situation. They were dirty most of the time and didn't read or write. Mr. Byron would sometimes hire the boys to help him work on houses. He said if he got them away from their mama (or maybe it was their grandma they lived with - either way she was Crazy!), they did okay. He said he could show them how to do something and they would learn quick.
