    • Today wish a big Happy Birthday to Grandkids3!!  Have a wonderful special birthday.  Grandkids3 posted for a week or two a month or more ago and has never joined us again!! If we did something to offend you please let us know!!

    • Did you all see the great picture of Tippy with her clown costume yesterday?  I declare she looked great!!

    • Thought for the Day-"Friendship improves happiness, and abates misery, by doubling our joy, and dividing our grief."

    • Today is Build a Scarecrow Day. He will help to keep birds out of your garden...I hope.

    • When I first started research on this special day, I thought it should have been held in the fall. My logic was that Scarecrows are a big hit in decorating during the fall, and are associated with harvest scenes. But, then I realized the error in the logic.......

    • Scarecrows are built to stand out in the garden to scare crows and other birds away. The crops are out growing in the field during the summer months. So, if you're going to build a scarecrow for your garden, the time is now. Hence, a July date.

    • Sometimes the scarecrow does his job quite effectively. The birds think someone is in the garden, and they stay away. Other times, they know better.  How can you tell that a bird is not scared by a scarecrow? When you see a bird resting upon a scarecrow, you can be pretty certain that the bird has not been fooled.

    • Special hugs and prayers for Anne, Sherry and Odell, Betty, Gat and Jeanette, Grace, Cilla, Mabel and Sally and Colleen.

    • And Don’t Forget the basket!! Keep it full of extra hugs and prayers for all that need them!!

    • Remember the group prayer! “Heavenly Father, we ask that you watch over and care for all Cookin’ Seniors and those they love as they go about their day!!”

    • Waves and hugs to all!!

    • Zora

    • Today’s song is one of the hits from the movie Grease!! “Summer Nights”  When I heard it last night on the Neil Diamond  special, I just knew it would be perfect!!

    • “Summer lovin' had me a blast
      Summer lovin', happened so fast
I met a girl crazy for me
I met a boy, cute as can be

    • Summer days driftin' away,
      To uh-oh those summer nights
Tell me more, tell me more,
      Did you get very far?
Tell me more, tell me more,

    • The special was great with some wonderful fireworks.  What a way to end the holiday!!

Hope everyone had a great 4th of July!

Yes, what a lovely clown Tippy made. My, oh my! What a talented lady!

It's going to take forever to read up on past posts. Sheesh! I'm hoping to have a quieter July, but ya never know. I just finished a crazy week...more than 50 hours.

Foot is improving, though. It's been a long 2 1/2 months since it started acting up. Maybe the end is near.

Wish we were getting some rain here. It is soooooooo dry! They get SOME rain in Edmonton, even in the next town but very little here.

Yawning...bedtime...ah...get to sleep in my own bed...no work for a few days.

    Have a great day you'all.

Yesterday was a bust due to rain but I enjoyed the music on TV last nite - first the Washington, DC one and then Boston Pops.  Today - yes, Sunday - my cleaning woman is coming cuz she is having eye surgeryt his week and wants to rest up.  I had new basement windows put in last week, requiring drilling in bricks to make them fit, and there is dust everywhere so I hope she doesn't mind dusting in the basement.  I took care of the kitchen myself.

I won't need to water today!

Holidays are always Sunday so I will be mixed up for several days!  Nancy B

    Good Morning all,

Going to try this again.   Sometimes when I do it on word I forget to save it before I go to post. Geesh....

I hope it was a safe and happy 4th for all.

We celebrated DD’s birthday on Friday with her and family as they   had an invite to a big family get together  on Saurday wih  son’s girl friend’s family.

DH and I spent a lazy relaxing day... Well DH did but I puttered around between cleaning out computer room, Garage (a little) and then moving stuff around in shed .made it a bigger mess. Sigh. Got to get more organized.

Birthday wishes for Grandkids 3.  Come back we really don’t bite...

I was awake early enough I got to see the sun rise. It was so majestic

as it arose peeking in between the trees across the street.

    Our house faces East.

Hugs and good wishes for Odell for tomorrow.  Keep us posted Sherry.

    Love to all  Sandy

    Good morning, CS.

Quiet Fourth here, too, ZORA. Just neighbor visiting and sitting around. DD played in three parades with the bands she's in. Watched city's fireworks from our family room. But, now the dang trees in the neighbor's yard have to stop growing, they are starting to block the display.

JP, wishing you lots of rest after that long work schedule.

NANCY B, guess I missed the Boston Pops-----what station was it on? I was disappointed in the singers and songs sung on the other patriotic shows.

SANDY, glad you got to celebrated with your firecracher. We should be having a nice summer week for once.

TIPPY,, TIPPY, TIPPY, now you add clown to your talent resume? Loved the pic.

    Nancy Z.

P.S. Like NANCY B. said, What day is this? Oh, yes, this is the day the Lord has made, let us be happy.

Yesterday afternoon, clouds massed, blended into a dark, growling lump as lightning flashed towards the ground. For a brief moment the wind picked up, lashing with limb breaking force, toys sailing across the back yard. None of this deterred the throngs that drove down the highway to the two firework stands that are walking distance from my home.

The odor from so many explosions filled the air and was sucked into the house by our swamp cooler. Outside was even worse.

The cooling, light drizzle that followed throughout the night did not drive the neighbors indoors. DH and I constantly went outside as their fireworks blazed in bright colors in the night sky. Did we enjoy the view? No, we went out as some other type of explosions they set off vibrated the walls and set our windows to rattling. The kids were throwing something near the side of the house and these "bombs" kept us awake till after two this morning. The noise kept my Alzheimer's Mom up and wandering fitfully about her room. My mare would buck in her pen and then she and the goats would huddle in her stall, shivering wild eyed as the blasts continued. My little dog quivered in her crate beneath her blanket. Add to the noisy fray, these same neighbors must have invited half the town to "party" at their house as numerous cars were parked there, with doors open and music booming loudly from the vehicles interiors.

    I am tired.

Brother called after 2pm yesterday to ask if we wanted to join them for a cookout. No, I already had things planned since I had not heard from them since Thursday!! So we had our own cookout!! It was good, too!!   Brother has plans for this Thurs which I had coin club meeting (I’m secretary) but I will try to get someone else to take minutes (since brother is on vacation!!) plus it is Dad's 87th birthday and I will not leave him alone. This is a club meeting 1 ½ hrs away (plus more since it’s summer and visitors are here) so I know Dad doesn’t want to travel and then sit there…
Tippy, you make a wonderful clown!!! Thanks for sharing!!
Zora, loved the Neil Diamond /Boston Pops program!! He’s got something else coming up…but dang it…I forgot when!! “If I only had a brain….” Scarecrow from Wizard of Oz  How did Shorty do??
JP, glad to see you. Glad the foot is slightly improved!!
Nancy B, I have already been mixed up on the days!!! And now the holiday!! Oy!!
Sandy, lazy days are fine by me…wish I had one!!
Nancy Z, hope you have a nice day!!
Beverly, bless your heart!! You are nicer than me...I would have called the cops...but we have a law/ordiance that no loud "anything" after 10pm!!

Hummm…Boston Pops was the program with Neil Diamond and it was on CBS here…. Man, it was good!! I could hear our local fireworks outside during the program!! Took me a minute to figure out what that sound was!!! Our neighbors did not do their usual fireworks - I missed that!! They shoot off illegal ones!! Nothing but sparklers are legal in FL so…they just go acoss the state line into AL to get *good* ones!!! LOL

Good morning from a cool & cloudy Indiana, it's only 66 out there, had to pull on a pair of long pants this morning........closed the windows yesterday.

We watched the Boston Pops show last night, while the fireworks were great I was somewhat disappointed in Neil Diamond, was expecting him to sing more, only did a couple of songs.  Heard last night where Aug. 14 he has a special.........will be watching that.

Tippy........love you in your clown costume..........you are so talented.

DH & I went to Cracker Barrel for dinner last night, I had the cod, really good, DH had the catfish, not so good........they didn't bring his fries till the fish was almost gone, he wasn't a happy camper, catfish not so good either.

DD coming for dinner today, will fry up some tenderloins, mashed taters & gravy, corn, slaw & rolls, also made a quick pineapple desert.

Hope everyone is doing fine today.

Normally, I do call them. The problem is, I live in the county so they are "allowed" to be noisier than usual. Add to that, DH wanted me to be "nice" even though he, too, was checking outdoors constantly due the loudness and the wall shaking we were enduring. (it was bad) If they do it again tonight--they will get a visit from the law.

Good morning, ooops, Good afternoon, I'm not use to the afternoon being my first post. Slept in this morning, I mean really in---like 10:30. Boy did it feel good. The only problem is now my day is shot. Oh well, to quote my favorite Scarlett O'Hara, "tomorrow is another day."

Zora - Grease is one of my favorite movies. It's one of those you can see over and over. I know how it is to have those "quiet holidays" I've spent quite a few of them.

JP - Glad your footsie is getting better. Enjoy your days off.

Nancy B. - I'm right with you on the mixed up days. Yesterday seemed like Sunday.

Sandy - Love the siggie. Sounds just like something I would do. Today will be my lazy day.

Nancy Z. - Must be nice to be able to watch the fireworks from your house.

Beverly - I think I would have to have been a party pooper and called the cops. Sometimes a little goes a long way. I remember coming home from Mama's one Christmas Eve and there was a huge burned area around the pine tree near our carport. The kids next door were shooting bottle rockets.

Cilla - You go girl. Do your own thing. DB should have called earlier. A big thumbs up for not wanting to leave your Dad alone on his birthday. Never knew Liz Taylor could sing. Learn something new every day.

Penny - Cracker Barrel here has not been so good the last few times either. Lunch today sounds good. Enjoy!!

Tippy - You are so cute. I love clowns anyway. They have a way of brightening up your day.

Sherry - (((HUGS))) for both of you. Will have you both in my thoughts and prayers. Keep us posted.

    Hugs to all,

    Brenda

HAPPY BIRTHDAY wishes going out to Grandkids3...Please to join us again.

Wow what "excitement" BEVERLY~  I too thought about the police. I always feel so bad for the animals during this time. Your poor dear mother too. HUGS!!!

Thanks ZORA for posting the photo for me. It really was a blast but this old body isn't what it used to be. I could do a parade twice that long a few years ago. This time I was looking for my inhaler by the end of my duties. 'sigh'

Thank you all for the nice words. I'm quite out of practice. It used to be something I did several times a year. Parties, town festivals, VBS, etc. but have retired from it for quite awhile now. I only did it this time because my son requested it for their part in the parade.

CILLA~~Thanks for the special number. LOL

ROSIE~~The umbrella is for people like Critter. I find that it hides me from screaming children (and sometimes adults with coulrophobia). Seems to work pretty well if I stay aware of anyone having anxiety attacks along the parade route. Works as a great prop at other times too.

The family will soon be gathering for our cookout. It's going to be great to have all the kiddos here at the same time again.

Great big hugs going out to everyone.

    Tippy

Punchinello laughed, "Me, special? Why? I can't walk fast. I can't jump, My paint is peeling, Why do I matter to you?"

Eli...spoke very slowly, "Because you're mine, That's why you matter to me."
