    Canadian Corner 07/05/09

Good morning.  I wouldn't normally start but I had a long thingie written in reply to yesterday's posts -- thought Maria would be started when I finished and then I copy and paste.  But Maria is sleeping in -- good for you -- and I don't want to lose what I typed -- so I started.  Now to paste.

Good Sunday morning all.  I was go-go-go yesterday.  Got up for garage sale-ing -- blue skies.  While driving to Orillia to pick up my friend who always goes with me, I commented to DH -- "Wehre did all those dark clouds come from?  They said 'no rain' this morning."  Can they never get it right.  Sure enough we weren't at it long in Barrie and it started to spit and then a bit heavier -- people were covering their stuff with plastic and I was shopping underneath it.  Haha.  No Gramma, I didn't bring an umbrella 'cos I need two hands to shop -- I didn't even take time to put on my rain jacket that I brought and put in the trunk.  it didn't last long and then it didn't rain -- just continuously threatened to and finally about noonish it got sunny.  We usually garage sale until 1 -- 2 p.m.  Then home.  We had some lunch and coffee and then back to Barrie with the truck to pick up some items that didn't fit in the car.  Grocery store to pick up a very few items and then to DSIL and DBIL for supper and visiting.  Home at 10 p.m.ish and off to bed.  My favourite buy at garage sales yesterday was a hammock -- now where to put it???  I haven't taken it out of the box yet but I'm hoping it is in good condition.  Of course need the rain to go away for a bit so I can enjoy it.

Promising no rain today so I am washing the bed linens so I can hang them outside.  They say rain again tomorrow.

    Catchng up from yesterday's posts

Hi BeesMom.  Hope you were able to sit and have a pedicure -- I haven't had one for at least 30 years.  LOL  Was the 80th Birthday party a huge success??

Hi Pat -- so did you only get a few raindrops yesterday or enough to be happy about??

Hi Gramma.  Sorry but S Palin can't live with me.  Isn't there any room there with you??   Do you have to go pick up DGS in another week.  1 hour to drive 30 miles sure sounds like a traffic jam to me especially if you are on the interstate.

Hi Marilyn.  Did you have a nice time out at the lake.  The food you were bringing sure sounded good.  Hope both you and Gramma had a nice holiday yesterday.

Hi Meesh.  You still sound good because of days without ACW.  Keep smiling.

Hi Eva.  The Stampede sounds like a lot of fun.  There are some foods there that I would love to give a try.  Is Mike Holmes from Calgary.  I did enjoy watching him on TV.  He seemed sincere but I often wondered if it was all for show???  Another day at the show for you today?  Enjoy yourself.

    Good morning Eija

Hi Lotte.  Hope you enjoyed your Sunday as ours begin.  I did enjoy my shopping -- thankyou

Hi Meme -- huggles back at you.

Pat -- so sorry to hear that some of the crops are past the 'being able to be revived' stage.  So hard on the farmers who work so hard to get it all started.

Hi Lotte enjoy the tennis -- DH watches too when he is home but he just left for a Sunday morning golf game.  I will hang my laundry soon, do my email morning thing, get myself all cleaned up and church at 9:30 -- beyond that no plans yet -- would like to do some gardening since I haven't been at it all week -- withdrawal symptons are started to show.  haha

    Have a great day all

    Good Morning Ladies,

Sundays is my only day to sleep in till 7:00, I enjoy it.

Aleida, it has been an unusual spring/summer always dark clouds with/without rain.

We took the gkids back yesterday, we love them very much and they are really polite. Kirsten (11) is quiet and shy, Logan (9) is more verbal always wanting me to play. I did play with them some but I can't keep up.

Gramma, what a peach you are driving your DGS on a busy highway.  Maybe S. Palin could move in with you in the senior complex. If she quits will she be able to run for Presidency? I don't understand that.

Beesmom, how did the 80th birthday party go, did FIl enjoy it?  It must be a slower time for you now, with the flowers being done.

Time for you to relax and get some ME time.

Eva. I have never been to Calgary stampede, it must be exciting and fun to participate. Many food booths I imagine.

Marilyn how was your day with your children at the lake celebrating the 4th of July? Munchkins must have had a lot of fun, something different at the lake.

Meesh, sorry to hear that you will be without ACW for several weeks....LOL

Pat, I feel bad for you not getting the much needed rain, we have had years like that, the crops look pitiful.

Meme, hope each day gets a little better for you, and able to cope with the everyday life.

If you need a shoulder to lean on lean on mine and the rest of the wonderful posters on CC. We are here for you.

    Have a nice Sunday everyone.

Good morning ladies!  That party for my FIL is today.  I'm a little nervous as it's at my SIL house and we don't really like each other.  She loves to pick fights in public.  You never know whose turn it will be.  It's been awhile for me so it could be me again.  I refuse to do that and ruin the party for my MIL so we'll see. Could be a tense day.  Otherwise I have all the food ready and we should be there around 3. Hope things go well.

I have been to the Calgary Stampede when I was 17 and barely remember a thing.  I only remember watching the Mounties musical ride from the grandstands and my brother got a cowboy hat.  That's about it.  I'm sure there is much more to it than that.  Very crowded I think too.

Better get back to the kitchen and pay attention to my bacon before it's all burned.  Wish me luck!

    Aleida, I told you so!

Maria, there ain't no way that Sarah Palin will (1) move in with me! or (2) win a presidential election. She can run if she chooses, but I doubt that she could even get her party's nomination. She's a loose cannon and obviously not very stable, not to mention a tad light in the brain department.

A nice gramma for driving DGS? A brave gramma! That interstate, at its narrowest point, is five lanes in each direction. Ack! He said he'll probably come back on Thursday or Friday, so I'll fetch him then. His friend lives so far away that the friend's dad and I each drive half way and meet to "exchange the prisoner"Big SmileAutomobile

Pat, we're getting rain in buckets here. I'd send you some if I could.

And Bees? It's only early July. Can the flowers actually be "done" already?

Meme, I understand. My sweet DH died in January. It isn't something you "get over" and that's for sure. My Best Aunt's husband died in 1978, and she says it was years before she even got used to the idea that he was actually gone and still misses him every day, 31 years later.

Meesh, I sympathize with you, too. It will be hard to get along without ACW, but you're up to the taskSmile

    Good morning,

Just popping in to say hi and let you know that I am still "hanging" in there.  If I don't post for a week, then you know that something must have happened! *lol*

I'm just passing through and heading back to bed.  I didn't sleep much last night, between dh's loud snoring and some back pain.  I think I only got about 4 hrs total.  Managed to finish abook about 4 this morning and then started another.  I'm reading my neice's "Twighlight" series.  It's the vampire series that the teens (and older) are really into.  I'm on book 3 and only started them on Wed afternoon.

Well, off the lala land again (hopefully)

Gramma-Yes flowers are done!  We start selling the 3rd week of April with pansies because they can tolerate snow which sometimes we still have at that time.  Then typically end around the end of June.  We still have flowers but it will only be a couple more truck loads and we'll be empty. You can still buy them around but the season is really done.  We already have our fall mums planted and will start shipping them aprox the 3rd week of August.  Our season isn't very long really...now make all your money for the year in 6 weeks, pay all your bills and make the rest last until the next year...It's not easy let me tell you.   Such is life!  It makes my DH happy so that's all that matters.

Well off to the shower and get ready for this day.

Hi everyone. Warm morning here. Kind of cloudy out there too. Hope we are not in for a storm today. Not supposed to anyhow. Think there is rain in the forecast for Monday and Tuesday though.

Today will be spent getting ready to leave tomorrow. We are going to Alberta to see the grandkids..lol..and their parents too, of course. DS will be travelling home as well. So we will travel together , I think.

Thought I would mow the lawn today, but it has hardly grown since Thursday, so no need to do that.

Not much else going on. Tried to sit outside last evening with the neighbours, but the mosquitos were getting bad. So it was only a 2 beer visit.

Gee, yesterday there was a funnel cloud in the Red Deer area in Alberta! Apparently it did touch down somewhere too! How frightening! Hope we don't get that kind of stuff when we are there!

Thinking about you all! Off to get some breakie.

    Have a super day!

Hi Eija.  How are you?  Pretty quiet here isn't it.

I came home from church and decided not to work in the flowers because I wanted to stay clean and unsweaty.  I decided to do some housework with quiet breaks out on the deck -- but then I got to thinking how I've hardly had any sit-down-on-the-deck time yet this year -- being away, raining, cool, working flowers etc etc etc.  So I decided I would sit out on the deck and take a few breaks and clean some inside.  What a great day I had.

Yesterday when DH and I came home from garage sale-ing there were two envelopes (mailed) laying on our front deck.  We assumed that the mail lady had put them in the wrong box -- the mail boxes for our street and a few other people is right out front of our home -- and that whoever got them had left them for us.  When we opened them -- get ready -- they were from 2007.  Now what the heck??? Who had them????  And why bother giving them to us now???  I'd really like to know the story behind those letters.

Tonight DH is cutting the lawn and right beside the mailboxes -- remember they are pretty much on our property -- someone left two baggies with doggie-doo in them!! How rude.  Take your dog for a walk, scoop and then leave it on my property.  I have to think that they put it there, kept walking and forgot on the way home to pick it up.  Please let that be the case -- otherwise I am going to have to watch who does this and then deposit it -- out-of-bag -- on their property.  And I'd do it while they were looking.  (But if you forgot it, wouldn't you go get it when you remembered??)

Supper is getting ready and then I have to do my snail mail.

Oh it was so nice out today -- is it finally summer??
