Good morning all.  A cloudy day here.  Have church this am and making a squash/Italian sausage mix with spag sauce and will have it over polenta that is in the oven or pan crisped.  saw the recipe in the doctor's office and got the details in my head, now hopefully I can make it.  :)  Probably do some painting this afternoon.  I am working on trim and may start priming the bay window.

Margie, hope you enjoy your day off from cooking.  people are crazy.

    Sherry, how is your tooth.

Hope you all have a great day.

Good morning.  Hope everyone had a nice holiday.  We just chilled out here at home yesterday and then went to see the fireworks.  Today will be back to the same old, same old.  I have a ton and a half of laundry to do, plus we are about out of bread so I need to bake

Margie, I don't understand people who let young kids play with such dangerous things.  I guess they think nothing is going to happen to them.   Have a good time at your mom's.  Enjoy her cooking.

Jill, how was the succotash salad?  Thanks for the info on the blueberries.  As a child I remember going with my parents way back on the logging trails in Upper Michigan and picking wild blueberries, when we were done picking mom would bring out the sugar and cream and we'd enjoy some of the blueberries right there in the woods.  Those were the best berries I've ever eaten.

Looks like the dog wants out.  I can't just let him out the door anymore in the morning, because we have been having a doe in our yard early every morning the past week or so.  I think she is eating some of the apples off the tree.  Enjoy your day everyone.  Becky

    Happy Sunday Morning!

So, everyone make it thru the 4th?

Was a nice day here.  Ashley ended up not having to work so she was here with Ryan.  We sat outside a lot.  It was cloudy, so it was nice sitting outside.  A little later my GF and her "friend" stopped by.  Food went over well,  I sent a bunch home with Ryan and Ashley and we still have nice leftovers.  Our town did fireworks over the lake, so, we just set up chairs in the driveway and sat and enjoyed them.  Boys did sparkers and snappers.

Today, nothing planned,  I'll work outside since it's so nice out.  Temps are supposed to get hot again this week I heard.

    Have a great day!

Good Morning Ladies. Hope everyone is doing well this morning, and that all of you had a great day yesterday. It's another beautiful start to the day. I slept in a little, and now I'm enjoying a cup of coffee made by dh. Not really sure what our plans are for today, and i haven't any idea what i'm having for supper. All I know so far is, this morning, I'm making our usual Sunday breakfast, eggs, hash browns, bacon, toast, juice, coffee. WE had a very nice holiday, although it was quiet. DH worked outside most of the day, then we went to church like we do every Saturday. There weren't as many people as usual, but quite a few. They played a lot of partiotic music too, so that was nice. After we got home, we cooked hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill, and had potato salad, and tossed salad to go with it. SS went out with friends, so it was just dh and myself. After dinner, we went for a long walk, then when we came home we had cherry pie, vanilla ice cream, and tea. We decided to start a new tradition, and have cherry pie every Fourth of July. It was a perfect holiday. The family next door had a HUGE picinc, and shot off fireworks last night. It was nice to watch, but now we have a lot of debris from them. Our driveway and yard are such a mess. Really, the houses are too close together on this street to shoot off fireworks. DH isn't too happy right now, since he takes a lot of pride in our yard.

Margie, it's nice having a quiet holiday. Have a nice time at your Mom's today. How nice she's making dinner.

Jill, Your dinner sounds so good. it's always nice trying a new recipe.

Becky, i know what you mean about laundry, it seems like a never ending task! Havce a great day just the same.

Patti, Glad your picnic went well. You must be so tired today. How nice you got to enjoy the fireworks from your driveway. it's always nice when you can enjoy something right in your own yard.  I guess you'll be having leftovers today. it's always nice to get a break from cooking. Hope you get to take it easy today.

Thats it for now. I beteer get in the shower,. i'll be back later!

    Sending HUGS!
    Denise

    Good morning everybody.

I am going to church this morning. Will swim, finish laundry, and try to make something decent for dinner. Last night had leftover Pizza Pasta Casserole. Need to get to store to pick up a couple of things after church and need to get gas.

There weren't any fireworks from that motel so I'm glad I got to see them last week. I did see one the neighbors set off and there were some going off this morning.

Jill, my tooth is still having some issues!

I have added some recipes and changed some of the pictures on my favorites with pictures thread. I discovered there is an editor in photobucket and if you click on autofix it will help with some of the lighting issues. My pics often seem to come out dark.

Hope you all have a wonderful day.

I added a bunch of recipes from a couple of other community cookbooks to my community cookbook thread. It might be easier to check going up from the last part because there are so many recipes from the Old Huntsville website in the middle. A lot of these particular recipes came from my aunts and cousins.

This one is from my cousin Naomi (Morristown Elementary School WV Community Cookbook--same town, different cookbook)

    Purple Lady Salad

2 regular size pkg. black raspberry jello

    1 c. hot water

1 can blueberries (think just blueberries, not the pie filling)

    1 can crushed pineapple, drained

    2 pkg. Dream whip

Combine jello and hot water. Add blueberries and pineapple. Let set till firm. Prepare Dream whip according to package directions and mix into jello mixture with electric mixer. I'm not quite sure what this looks like. I would be more tempted to just put the dream whip on top of it, or make the jello into cubes and fold the dream whip into it that way.

Sad news... just heard from my sister that their pastor passed away. It's unbelievable that 2 weeks ago he was a healthy man, and that this flu could be so deadly. He leaves behind a wife and 2 young kids. Please pray for them.

    * He was 40 or 41 and his kids are 7 & 14, both girls. They had their 20th anniversary last Thursday.

Oh, Dowie, that is just horrible. I feel so bad for the church and his family. That stuff is just scary. Amazing how it takes healthy people and kills them so quickly. Sending lots of prayers.

I am very sorry that I accidentally got confused and posted recipes on here that I meant for my community cookbook thread.

Went out with the group from church and then went to Wally World and got a couple of things. Going to make 3 bean salad and then take a nap. I think it is supposed to be over 110 every day this week. It is scorching hot out there. Will have to start swimming about 7 pm or so.

Hi Ladies!  Just popping in hoping everyone had a nice holiday!  We did, we had our picnic, my in-laws were here, and my MIL was in a mood, because we were watching baseball, and taking our time enjoying the day, and she was missing out on fireworks...oh well, can't please everyone.  But we did have a good day despite that.

I just finished packing up the dry goods for DH's trip tomorrow, and getting Joey's things ready for Child Care.  I e-mailed my Supervisor trying to find out when I go on Per diem so I can call Child care and cancel Joey.  I want to try to keep him in until the 20th at least, that is when they go to the New Jersey Aquarium in Camden, I know he'd enjoy that, anyway, it is already paid for.

Waving to everyone, hope everyone has a good night.  Talk tomorrow.

    Hugs.

    Theresa
