    Recipe can size not available

From time to time, I run across a recipe (such as Tuna Salad in Tomato Cups on page 45 of the 7/8,2009 isues) that calls for a can size that is no longer available. This particular recipe calls for a 6-oz. can of tuna; tuna is now available in 5-oz. and 10-oz. cans. Years ago, tuna came in 6-oz. cans, but not in 2009.

So what should I do? Usually, I just use the smaller size can since I don't want to throw away tuna or double the amount called for. Yes, I know I could save the extra tuna and do something else with it, but I don't want to do that. I want the recipe to call for can sizes that are available! Can you adjust the recipes before they are published so that they call for can (or box) sizes that are readily available?

    Thanks,

An ounce of tuna isn't going to make that much difference. the weight on the tuna can says 5 ounces but some of that is water or oil. the actual amount of meat may be the same as what was in the 6 oz. cans.
