    Hello, Mirry.

Looks like your little helper is busy, working away in your beans.

What kind of beans are they?

Jo, they are the ordinary English runner beans..they produce like mad! Do you have them? Thought I might try the french beans next year...

Mirry, the beans that I've seen like that are the scarlet runner beans...more of a decorative plant than an edible bean.

Jo, they  crop like mad, but also look quite attractive! If you keep them smallish and keep pickiung them, you will have many pounds! The French beans are smaller plants and have lovely white flowers..might try them next year....

Mirry, to tell the truth, DH has given up on beans...over the last few years  we've had nothing but problems, it seems.

He'd get them planted, and right away we'd have a cold wet spell, and they all died.  He'd replant and only get enough for a couple of meals..

But thanks anyway for your kind offer, Mirry.

We call them scarlet runner beans here, Mirry.. Busy little fellow will have you eating beans before you know it. I am growing some Kentucky blues this year and they are coming on strong.
Jo. You might try covering your beans with a fabric cloth if you plant them early for you. I keep the cover on until they are about to start running up the poles, then I take it off.. By then the soil has warmed enough and the chances of hail are minimal.
You might also consider just growing bush beans and keep them covered at night and just leave them open during the day so the little helpers can pollinate them.
    Happy bean picking!

I recognized them the second I saw the picture - you lucky mare you!!  I tried them here once but it got too hot for them.  The regular American beans grow fine though.

Jo - look for scarlet runner beans - I think that's what they call them here.

We did have the scarlet runners a couple years...really pretty, and the hummingbirds like them, too.

I know.  We don't have them here like a lot of the rest the country, though. And they're always in the mountains waaay before we get them down here on the plains.

Just a couple days ago we saw our first ones at our bee balm and larkspur.

Mirry, what is your siggy?  I can't quite make it out.
