Re: Good Morning Dear Friends in Tea, October 1st, Sweeping out the dust and cobwebs,

Good Morning Dear Friends in Tea. Today's partea is dedicated to this little phrase.

"Just cuz you can't see the air, it dont stop you from breathin', and just cuz you can't see God, it dont stop you from believin' "

The above inspiration came from a remake of The Bishop's Wife retitled, "The Preacher's Wife".  I half watched the movie yesterday until those words fairly lept into my mind and heart. I delighted in that and I hope that it reaches right to you wherever you may be.

Welcome to the spirit of 'old fashion' holidays' . A warm hearth, a simple meal, a little bit of inspiration and someone to share a cup of tea with. As my mother would say, 'everything else is gravy.'

My favorite tea is served at Tyme Well Spent tearoom. 'Vanilla Pear' is a black tea that is so aromatic and tasty, I pick it every time. The company who provides it to the tearoom does not sell to the public, but I got lucky and managed to buy 2 precious ounces to brew at home. Now, to blend my own, lol. You would think it would be straight up and easy, but tis not. I am now drying pieces of fresh pear and toying with flavoring the tea leaves with split vanilla beans. There is something missing..maybe a little dried banana or apple...ohhh its the elusive butterfly!

Speaking of little vexxing things, I bought a pretty little watch, brought it home and the little instruction book said to refer to a website for setting instructions. What happened to pulling out the little stem and making it right? Ayone who has bought an electronic thingy lately, knows this fact, nothing new is simple. Just try to buy a car with crank windows. If you live near lots of lakes, best buy the little hammer that allows you to break glass in case of an emergency. Did anyone ever get crushed by a manual garage door? No. Welcome the automatic door...and add the electronic eye after it proves to be a little too quick for you.

Well, I am not complaining as much as I can't quite keep up. Why haven't headlights for slippers and electronic grocery carts that drive the food home arrived? lol.

Dear Elza, That is the perfect gift cake! I do not have the kind of willpower that would save that cake from extinction! In fact, I think I heard of an extinct cake that didn't even make it to the frosting phase a lot like your cake! I look forward to a glowing review.

Dear Kathy, Have you decided on a point of vacation operation? Perhaps we can meet in the middle! You are welcome to come here as well. Time flies faster when you are far from home. I know your dancecard will be very full.

Dear Carolyn, I am basking in the glow of your contentment and adding it to my own. What a joy it is!

Dear Carole, I went out with a purpose yesterday and came home empty of fall decor. Nothing struck me as perfectly suited so, back to the drawing board. The mums I planted have shrivelled up...my neighbor assures me they will pop up next year. Not very comforting when I didn't plant any last year, lol. I don't lack for hoards of colored leaves but DH is determined to remove all traces of them as soon as they hit the ground. He hates cornstalks with a passion, so I have to admire those on the columns of other houses. I did find a nice offering of pumpkins, one variety is called a peanut skin, but, again, DH did not share my enthusiasm. We will agree on something, sometime, I think, ah ha! Every once in a while, I would like to take the string tie in his hooded sweatshirt and....pull it into a tiny circlet so he can't see!

With a little wink, and a good cup of tea. Thank you for visiting and sharing the wealth of life. Your very grateful hostess and friend, Mary

Re: Good Morning Dear Friends in Tea, October 1st, Sweeping out the dust and cobwebs,

I had to laugh at your idea for handling spousal disagreements or nonagreements.  If that works let me know. What works for one may work for another as most of them seem to think pretty much alike just as we ladies all tend to. LOL

Have made Veggie stew .  On the stove in a simmer for supper.  It is cool and overcast today and so should taste good with cornbread.

Making another 'round about town seeking chocolate.  So fun to look.  When does everyone plan for a shipping date?  Do not want to be late, but not too early and yet want it to be very fresh.  Ah, the dilemmas of life!

All have a wonderful Fall day.  If it does not look fallish where you are , just "play like".  My friends and I used to say that phrase.  Let's" play like" these baby dolls are twins------and off we would go on some adventure of make believe.  So just play like it is Fall, cause it is here. Perhaps that would be good for us as grownups such as "Lets play like today will be a better day than yesterday etc etc.

Re: Good Morning Dear Friends in Tea, October 1st, Sweeping out the dust and cobwebs,

Kathy, how long will you be in Michigan? Will you be staying in St. Clair the entire time?  St. Clair is not the same as St. Clair Shores, unfortunately! Please keep me updated on whatever plans you make to see Mary!

Elza, the Amonition Cake sounds  heavenly!

Carolyn. Olivia sounds like an angel! Congrats! Also, tonight's dinner sounds perfect :)  I say "let's play like it's summer time again!" It is, unfortunately, full-blown fall in Michigan.

Carole, what's new with you?  Did you get over your sluggish feeling? Probably all the fault of the weather :(

I'm still deciding whether to try to over-winter my million bells by bringing it in indoors. It's soooo beautiful -- I'll show you a pic when I finish!

Mary, are you talking about ALAN? Since when is he disagreeable, lol!?  Do let me know if the hoodie strings are effective, though. That made me grin.

Full steam ahead to the wedding a week from Friday -- already! I have the gown and shoes, but am still in search of the "right" purse or clutch. I just can't seem to come close to matching the gown. Love the dress, though, and it needed just a tiny bit of alteration because it was a little bit big in the shoulders.

It's been quite chilly here, especially at night, so we've already been running our furnace which I usually drag my feet doing.  Today was to be sunny and 62, but so far it's only made it to 57.  Not much sun either.

We sure are missing a LOT of tea angels! I wish everyone would poke their head in.  Whatever happened to Germanlady and so many others?

Well, this is my million bells. Any advice as to whether I could get it through the winter indoors in a south window?

    Have a wonderful week!

Re: Good Morning Dear Friends in Tea, October 1st, Sweeping out the dust and cobwebs,

Good evening angels,  well Monday is over with.  It has been a long day.  My co-worker and very good friend, her mother died this morning.  It has been a sad day.  Keep Peggy and her family in your prayers.  I had my  recipes out today for finger cookies and checked at work if they will let me bring in a platter of food closer to Halloween.  You know new building, new rules,  had to ask to be sure.  The other people in our area said it would be fine and they do it for different holidays, so I can show off for a new bunch of people.

Susie,  the flowers are beautiful. I hope you can keep them over the winter.  Thank you for asking,  still a little sluggish,  but it will be ok.

Carolyn,  I got to get my chocolate too.  I am going to shop for it this weekend and get it shipped out first of the week.

Mary,  I got to get my DH a sweatshirt hoodie with a string.  LOL.  Get you some cornstalks and put them all around when your DH is gone and tell him they just appeared.    Go ahead and get a bunch of stuff while you are at it.

Kathy,  what you got going on this week.  how is your study going?

Elza,  I think  I am going to have to try the cake  to take to church on Sunday.  We are having homecoming.  So that will be something good.  Thanks for the recipe.

Well everyone,  supper is on the stove.  I put a big Boston Butt in the crock-pot this morning  pulled it apart this afternoon, or rather it fell apart, mixed it with some bbq sauce , and they are eating it on toasted buns.  there is plenty, so come on and get it, while it is hot.

    Hugs

    Carole

Re: Good Morning Dear Friends in Tea, October 1st, Sweeping out the dust and cobwebs,

Suzy, your cascading Million Bells are beautiful. I have two flower boxes full of them too - they are called something else out here and can't remember the name right now, but the boxes are so full that you can't see them for the flowers . I'm thinking of dismantling and cleaning up the deck flowers this week as the weather is so beautiful and would be perfect for working outside. Hate to think of getting rid of all those colorful blooms, but better now than waiting longer and running into windy or rainy weather. We're still picking tomatoes and zucchini and I found one lone cuke this AM. Sure hate to say goodbye to summer and long sunny days.

I agree - what's with this small print that recently showed up here? I thought it was only on my computer.

I started to wrap my box of chocolates for mailing, but didn't finish and will do so tomorrow. But, I think I'll hold off for a couple more days before mailing it out.

I'm enjoying my new granite countertops, but still have stuff here'n there that has to be put away - sure takes longer to get put back together than the taking apart....I could use the help of a trained robot about now

Time to head for the feathers and a good book - wishing all a great day tomorrow, goodnight.

    Anne

Re: Good Morning Dear Friends in Tea, October 1st, Sweeping out the dust and cobwebs,

Good Morning Dear Friends in Tea. Welcome to a celebration of friendship and sharing. Select your favorite cup and a lovely comfortable chair...just when and where you like it. Please let me pour your tea. As you go about your busy day, apart from here, remember to carry the joy of just having friends to care about you. Life is easier to navigate with the company of other people. There now, curl up and just be yourself. This is all about enjoyment and beauty.

Dear Susie, I love the picture of your million bells! I would try to winter them too! I had two lovely hanging baskets but the intense sun thinned them out to straggles and they have been put to rest. They were so brave and beautiful, but like all things they needed just a bit of shade. That is why I planted trees...lol...Thank you so much for the earmuff links, the world of shopping in real steps has been totally and completely devoid of even one pair!

Have you looked at 'Etsy.com' for an evening bag? There are wonderful artisians there making out of the ordinary things. I wear two hair combs and I really like decorative ones, and that is a good source.

I can't wait to hear all about the wedding, in fact I am humming the Wedding March right now!

Dear Anne, Has your weather settled into a more normal pattern? I am so glad you like your counters and that home work is keeping you busy and content. I am planning to mail out my candy around the 10th to insure it arrives in time for the holiday.

Dear Carole, I hope you are feeling a boost of energy and a livened spirit as you go about your work. I discovered yesterday while trying to bake biscuits that my oven is not up to set temperature. It took me near to 1/2 an hour to get them brown, and at that point they weren't light as a feather for sure. I had to switch from baking an apple pie to making fried apples.  Your meal sounds ez and perfect for fix and go.

Dear Elza, I have the nocloseline blues...my bathroom rugs got draped out over lawn funriture and on fence post.

Ok ladies, an opinion please. I have an occasion to attend and required dress code is a cocktail dress. I know that actually means a dress..but, can I get away with a taffeda evening skirt and dressy blouse topped with a velvet short jacket? I am really torn over this one. I hate to go and buy a new dress now. I have worn my little black dress so many times I think it could drive itself to the event. I actually asked the coordinator but she said, "Some of our attendees will wear just about anything [little sigh]". I know...give up and wear the dress, lol.

Yes, the print is driving me to nystagmus, I can't write too much or suffer. That aside, lets all go forth in the beauty of this magnificent day...and have a little fun along the way! May I offer you some tea? Your very grateful hostess and friend, Mary

Re: Good Morning Dear Friends in Tea, October 1st, Sweeping out the dust and cobwebs,

Dear Carolyn, I couldn't leave the room without joining your 'play like game'. I had a wonderful friend who was going through great personal trial and I asked her how in the world she managed to be so calm and balanced. She told me she made it a practice to 'fake it til she could make it.' Perhaps that is practicing the relief that is to come...like taking off your heels and putting on really fluffy slippers....ahhhhhh.

    Have a lovely day, Mary

Re: Good Morning Dear Friends in Tea, October 1st, Sweeping out the dust and cobwebs,

Good morning, girlfriends.  Idiot that I am, I grabbed the wrong power contact lenses to put in this morning.  The computer monitor is NOT looking so great.  LOL, if I just turn around and reach up I'm sure I can find something that works better here at work.  Ah, the joys of working for an eye doctor.  LOL

Susie, those flowers are beautiful!  Not a dead head on them or brown leaf anywhere.  You do truly have a green thumb.  P.S.  I'm still waiting for you to accept me as a "friend" on Facebook.

Speaking of, Mary and Carole I'd love to see you more often on Facebook.  What a wonderful way to keep in contact with friends.

We should be closing on our second rental house in the next couple of weeks then Earl has lots of work cut out for him.  We just found a bathroom vanicty, on good old Craigslist, yesterday that we picked up for $40.  We have two whole bathrooms that need replacing and the whole kitchen.  I will be very cash poor but house rich in a short while.  Hope it proves to be the right investment.

Happy day with lots of smiles

Re: Good Morning Dear Friends in Tea, October 1st, Sweeping out the dust and cobwebs,

Good Evening everyone. I havent been around lately. But as I was online procrastinating from my school  work I thought of the tea room.  A quiet little place to disappear to for a few moments.

Mommi, I agree new ear muffs are highly important, and if you find any great purple ones let me know :) I love the pair you got me last year and need a pair for when my ears get achy also. One for your house one for mine.

Kathy enjoy your trip to MI.  It is chilly here though.  For a cake why dont you try Garrett's Cake shop it is in troy mi on livernois and long lake.  I had the BEST italian wedding cake from there for a farewell party at a school I subbed for.  I had to pick the cake up for them and it weighed like a million pounds, but it was DELICIOUS.

Here is a tip for everyone.  If you freeze Yoplait whips yogurt, it taste like Ice cream.  I personally can not eat ice cream so the frozen version of their chocolate mouse yogurt is AWESOME,

Well I better get back to work on my thesis.

    Hugs TTFN
