Well Kathie, hope you don't mind one last bit of Halloween!   I was given this pattern via a Random Act of Kindness and I rushed to get one done for Jake's Halloween bag:

His name is Boo... the bat  :)

A lot cooler but much sunnier today, not sure if we'll stay in or go for a ride.   I've cast on for a Christmas tree hat, hope to get 4 or 5 done in different sizes before the 19th.   :)

    Wishing everyone a great day!

Good Morning!  I've been lurking, reading all about everyone's activities.  This past week hasn't been so good - had a pretty bad problem with anemia and had to get some blood (thank you to all of you that donate blood!).  I've been working a little on some projects, but it sure seems slow going.  Thank you all for chatting and sharing your progress!

Betty:     Sorry to hear you are having a problem :(        Take it easy now!

    Jolene:  I like the bat...................

DD just called to see if I have a Pom-Pom maker........can't find her's.   Yep!   she'll be up to borrow mine.  Had it for years; 3 colors of plastic circles; makes all sizes of Poms! I might even have 2 around here somewhere!

Waiting for the race & checking recipes.............Red Velvet Whoopie Pie....hummmm!

Good morning. We had about 240 Trick or Treaters last night. Have just a few pieces of candy leftover, which is good. (right?)

Betty hope you get to feeling better.

Kathie, those whoopie pies sound yummy.

Jolene, really cute bat, just perfect for Jake's costume. Is he feeling better?Thank you for posting the pumpkin sandwiches. I made them yesterday for my DD's Halloween supper and they were the hit of the night. I tinted the egg wash with orange or green food coloring to paint the pumpkins and they came out beautiful. I'll post a picture. That recipe is definitely a keeper. Have a great day. Pat

Cute bat Jolene, errr if bats can be cute Wink  So where is this pumpkin taco recipe everyone is raving about?

The T-top sweater is finished and looks very nice, I will be making more with that pattern.  I made a neck/cowl scarf for myself.  Imagine that, something for me *giggle*  It made up real fast and would make great last minute gifts if anyone needs something quick, stylish and practical.  I've been seeing them everywhere and they seem to be quite the "thing" in this part of the world.

I'm also making ear flap hats, they are soooo cute and I believe that will be this year's hat for all  (5) the grand nephews/niece toddlers/pre-schoolers I knit Christmas gifts for.  This will be the 2nd year I make them hats so I guess that is going to make it a tradition Smile good thing they are quick, fun, don't take much yarn and there are thousands of styles!

As usual I also have a baby afghan on needles.

Keep posting your projects and works in progress, you truly motivate me :-)

Jolene: Really cute bat. Looks cute of Jake, but Jake looks like he's still kind of puny. Cute little bugger though; I hope he feels better tomorrow.

Lert: Sorry you haven't felt up to par; I hope some of that blood they gave you was extra full of energy.

Pat: The pumpkins are cute. Will look back at the recipe.

Apple: Kids Love Whoopie Pies but haven't made red velvet.

Keep needles going; I'm sure the kids are going to love those hats they get.

    Here is Jolene's original post,Linda.

Tonight's was Taco Pumpkins.  Jake doesn't like cheeseburgers, but eats tacos (go figure LOL), so I substituted the filling with prepared taco meat.   Used mexiblend cheese.   He gobbled down 2! Definitely adaptable to any holiday, just stretch out the biscuits and cut out with a cookie cutter then crimp 2 together after filling.    :)

    Trick-or-Treat Turnovers

How cute! Marge Free of Brandon, Mississippi carved these clever pumpkin pastries to feed her hungry bunch at Halloween. The ground beef filling has a hint of onion and mustard.

    INGREDIENTS
    • 1/2 pound ground beef
    • 1 tablespoon finely chopped onion
    • 4 ounces mozzarella cheese, cubed
    • 1/4 cup prepared mustard
    • 2 tubes (16.3 ounces each) large refrigerated flaky biscuits
    • 1 egg, lightly beaten

    DIRECTIONS

In a large skillet, cook beef and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Add cheese and mustard; cook and stir until cheese is melted. Cool slightly.
Flatten each biscuit into a 4-in. circle; place four biscuits in each of two greased 15-in. x 10-in. x 1-in. baking pans. Spoon 2 heaping tablespoons of meat mixture onto each.
Using a sharp knife or cookie cutters, cut out jack-o'-lantern faces from remaining biscuit circles; place over meat mixture and pinch edges to seal tightly. Reroll scraps if desired and cut out stems for pumpkins.
Brush with egg. Bake at 350° for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown. Yield: 8 servings.

Good morning  :)  This weekend went by too fast.   Have lots to do around the house today, and  need to set up my baking brochures and get them to my sis for Tgiving orders.   Tim also wants a haircut.    I'll still find time to knit, no worry :)  Yesterday I managed to do a base for a child size Christmas tree hat, will embellish it and crochet the star at a later time.   Most likely will start another one today, it's knit in the round and goes fast, especially in the smaller sizes.

Betty, sorry to hear you've had such a hard time, hope you continue to feel better!

Kathie, thank you for the RH newsletter!  I've got my gram's pom pom tree  :)  Need to pull it out later and make 6 for 3 bee hats that I finished last week.    :)

Pat, those look AWESOME!   I love the idea of the tinted egg wash, I'm stealing that for next year  :)    So glad they were a hit  :)

Linda, the projects look great!   That's the best kind of model, the live ones are kind of wiggly  :)  I've got more blurry photos of Jake from the last year, he hates to sit still   LOL   Rachelle sent me a wonderful earflap pattern a while back and I've pulled it back to the top of the to-do pile.

Waving to all that stop in later   :)   Need to get Jake up and moving so he doesn't miss the bus  :)

& am smiling over the Yankees................1 win away from the Championship!Big Smile

Another smile as I read this in the paper this morning...............JOLENE =   NH made the Guinness Book of World Records with a 222.5 pound meatball!!  Nonni's Italian Eatery in Concord........

What wonderful projects Linda ; I am a big fan of ombre's & I like that one you used on the T-top sweater  & ear-flap hat.    I agree with Jolene about the model; DGD always looks grumpy  :(

& a recipe  posted.   those are a cute supper idea.   Can't say SO would like one tho!

DD came by 3x's yesterday & finally brought charcoal burgers for supper.  YUM! She likes charcoal over gas grill; now the smaller grill is put away, she uses the gas one most all winter (just outside the garage doors)

She brought 2 Santa Hats, 2 Christmas Ombre Sweaters & a red & white Sparkly dress with pointsetta buttons on the front,  for the babies.  me with no camera!  But will let Jolene know when they get posted on GTA's. Need to get the box packed & mailed; the deadline is the 20th.

I did the ends on the snuggle & started a Santa hat................that was it for me between the race & the ball game!

Putting out Christmas items at the Thrift Store this morning.   I need strong will power not to buy ANYTHING more!    I need to be bringing TO    NOT  bringing HOME!!

    Enjoy seeing all the pictures..............

Good morning. 52 F and chilly today, with a chilly week coming up. Not looking forward to that, I'll probably hibernate  most of the week.I want to get some on-line Christmas ordering done this week because some of my catalogs came in with free shipping.Big Smile

    Kathie, what is GTA?

Jolene, I was on Ravelry last night, just browsing and saw that you made me a friend. Thank you. I haven't set anything up on there yet as I think I need a few more projects and I don't really have much of a stash. I think I feel a little intimidated by the level of knowledge some of those crafters exhibit. I don't know much about yarn types and uses. I, so far, just do very basic stuff but I'm hoping to get there.

Saying  hi to all. Have a great day...Pat

Jolene, that ear flap hat has made it to my maybe for Christmas pile too. I was going to try and put the transformer logo on it for my DS and SIL's oldest son.

Kathie, Yankees won last night too. We had 2 trick or treaters on sat. DH is refusing to buy any candy at all next year.

Linda, love the hat and sweater.

I've got an ear warmer from knitty I want to do. I'll post the link later. Going to spanish class.

    Hi Everyone

Weekends are never long enough. I think Jolene had the same feeling. Trick or treat Friday night here was ok. Cold and rainy. We took the kids to Care Center where my daughter and husband work. The resident loved them and gave them so much candy. The care center furnishes the candy for the residents to give out.  They had some of the residents in costumes. Very nice.

Yesterday I worked and got a 5 gallon bucket of carrots washed, peeled, blanched and put in the freezer.  Didn't get to work on my crochet projects though. :(

Council meeting tonight so busy at work today.

Betty hope you are feeling better. Good to see you back.

Linda those projects are just so neat and the model pretty cute too. Jolene I loved the bat. Kathie is so good to get a doggie snuggle done. Your daughter sure has been busy for the babies. Another great thing.

Well better get back to work. Hope everyone has a good day. Jeanette
