    MissLizzy's Scrappin' & Stampin' Group Nov 1 - 21st

Good morning!  I hope all of you remembered to fall back an hour last night.  It was nice waking up to daylight instead of feeling like I was getting up in the middle of the night.  It was actually around 70 degrees yesterday.  I could sit outside for a while in a short sleeved shirt.  In fact, I'm thinking of changing into one right now.  I opened my windows again this morning.  I have to enjoy the fresh air while I can.  It'll be too cold to do that before long.

We had a higher number of trick or treaters than usual last night.  I think most business areas had their events on Friday night and last night was sooo nice.  Mike carved an awesome looking jack o lantern yesterday into a skull design.  He does such a great job!

Mary, I'd be happy to share some of the Gooseberry projects. If I scan them how do I get them here?

We had close to 150 trick or treaters. Many houses on our street were dark. We have a neighbor that works for Outback and he gave the adults a free coupon for a Bloomin Onion. That was nice!

Hope everyone has a nice day with the extra hour!

happy that Halloween was such a success for everyone. We had exactly the number of kids I thought we would....0. we live in a hilly area and then the kids would still have to walk up to the houses. The city puts on a great party for the kids though. Haunted house and all. My sister said that her kids split up she took Brandon and 3 of his friends they were all 5 out and Bob took Austin and his 3 friends all 7 yo. seems the little ones cant keep up with the little ones! It started raining hard by 7:30 so Brandon and his friends and their parents called it quit..... Austin and his friends were still out for about another hour. By the time they got home Brandon and my sister were bathed, in pj's and drinking hot chocolate.. Austin and Bob came in cold and were happy to get a shower. Boys!!! CASSIE we would spill all of our candy out on the living room floor and divide it into best, good and let Mom and Dad have it.... Getting the blooming onion sounds good! At least it makes taking the kids out worth it for the adults. Went T or T in Germany with wine glasses... they were frequently refilled... hey it was cold! and we wanted treats too! No crafting here today just getting stuff done. Talk to you all later.

I have been going to the hospital every day to see Mom, she was put into step down last night. Her blood oxygen was out of whack again... too much carbon monoxide again...they have it under control now... just hope it stays that way... this up and down is not good for her and us... ok, I know it is usually about me... but this time not. Prayers are welcome. I have been coming home and playing on farm town, farm ville and fish world... dont ask not sure how it happened but it did... guess because it is fun and takes no brain power... and I can t think about anything much now.... Ok, the rest of you have to check in because I have to know how you are all doing and lynn(buffetfan) is going to think we dont like her... LOL I know you like ME... see it is all about me.By the way I heard that Black Friday sales are starting this Friday and will continue throughout the holidays. No excuses now... except I have no ideas for anyone. Anyone who has brilliant ideas let me know.. I need help

We've been under the weather at our house.  I stayed home yesterday and my DH came home mid morning.  He stayed home today and I came home mid afternoon.  Nothing too serious.  Just a bug of some sort.  One minute we feel fine, the next we feel really sick to our stomach.  I've had a headache off and on with mine.  I really need to go to work tomorrow.  I get so behind when I'm not there.

    Good morning.

Not much going on here either. Dad will maybe get to come home this weekend. He is still really weak and still has the infection. He had another different abscess yesterday they had to treat. If he does go home he will have a home care nurse and physical therapist come in each day to help. It's crazy how quick this wiped him out.

Hayley has started basketball. It's the same coach I didn't like in volleyball but I'm keeping my mouth shut as long as Hayley is happy playing. I just really don't like her attitude though.

Jason is going to start working a swing shift instead of graveyard. It will be nicer for him but is going to be crappy for the rest of us. Some days Hayley won't get to see him at all and I'm going to be the one having to go to all practices and everything. Once baseball starts in the spring it will really bad. Connor will be playing also so I'll be the one juggling both kids practices, games. Not looking forward to that at all.

    Have a great day all!!

Cassie ~ Mommy to Hayley and Connor, wife to Jason, my third kid!

    Good morning.

Thanks Cass for updating the ladies. I am really hoping they don't send Lyle home until next week. He is really weak as Cass said. He hasn't even gave himself a shot yet so he has to learn all about that. I am going to spend the day with him today and maybe give him a shot. This is the person(me) that hates needles but I figure I'd better know how to do it.

Cass I'm sorry all of the kids activities will fall on you this spring. I can help out 3 days a week if you need it. This working every weekend really stinks but then it's a job.

Off to  get ready to go to the hosp. I hate that drive as it's a long one.

Wow!!! Sounds like just about everyones lives right now is crazy. MARY take care of yourself and your family first... believe me the work will still be there when you get back... and if they need it done and cant wait for you to do it... they will find someone to fill in... but if you get more sick you are going to really be behind......... LYNN I know what you mean about Lyle coming home next week vs this week, especially if he is weak...let the drs know that you re the one who will be there and if he needs physical help you are not capable of it right now as weak as he is.... they should understand................. CASSIE sounds like you are going to know what single moms go through... not easy but somehow it always gets done... right MARY, you are not single but when dh is not home.... ....................... Just came home from the hospital... mom is still in ccu but is to be transfered to rehab tomorrow... care nurse called my Dad and tried to set up a rehab facility for Mom.... Dads response... NO>>> not an option she needs to stay at the hosp. rehab... dont think the care person wants that but my Dad will be able to charm her I am sure... he is never forceful... but my betts are on him. I have decided I am exhausted, I have bags under my eyes that go to almost to the end of my nose...and I have black circles... I never have that... I think I am tired!!! LYNN do you know the feeling??? LOL Well this WILL be an early night. Pray all is better with everyone.

Lynn I'm sorry but I didnt catch what is Lyle's health condition? Hope they keep him as long as he needs to be there.... I'm sorry he is so ill and will definitely pray for you both.

DENISE seems your hands are full too ... how does your mama keep getting the carbon dioxide in her blood?  isnt she on oxygen?  Ya'll are in prayers also.

CASSIE oh wow I've been there .... there would be weeks before the kids would see papa .... he left before they got up and came up after they were in bed sleeping .... then he would sleep in on Saturdays so not much visiting there and Sunday it was ball games.... and this went on for a long time ..... so be prepared .... there was a negative behavior response from both of them and it was nothing but they missed daddy being home.... so mylove goes with you.

My gosh my brain is blank ....  hopefully i'll be back on soon more than I have the last month or two..... or maybe three .....  big hugs and prayers for all who need them including myself and family .... there comes tmes you just dont think you can make it ... but you do.   Love, Granny

May the good Lord give us our daily bread, for our daily bread is everything we need to survive that day!

Came straight home tonight... so tired I barely taught today... thank goodness the kids dont care. :) Started to feel bad about 2 so came straight home aftr picking up dinner at Pick up sticks... chinese take out. got home and Dad said that the hospital says we either have to take mom to a health care facility for rehab or home...Guess we are bringing her home... dont ask how that is going to go she is not able to stay in the hospital rehab because 1 it is short time care only and 2 she has been refusing physical therapy and they dont feel that they can do anything to help her... the nurses and drs. are getting upset. I truly cant believe my Mom has become so stubborn... I have never seen this side of her... and yet when I mentioned it to my Dad he said she has always been like that...just hope that I dont get that from her... He said it was a control issue where she is sick and has no control over what is happening.... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, I do have it... heaven help me when I get older... honest now I am scared. just need to remember what she is putting us through by not cooperating. GRANNYBARBIE glad to hear from you pray that all is going well with you ad Papa. About Mom getting carbon monoxide... because of the diminished lung and heart capacity... and the retention of fluid her air is not expelled from her body... she is on oxygen... what she will have to do is to use a cpat... hard air mask at night at the very least. This helps to stabalize air vs carbon monoxide... her level gets to about 60% normal level is 20% carbon monoxide. I didnt realize that we all retain cm. Pray all goes well, I know I am in fear and my Dad is too.... I can tell we are getting along well... LOL.................ELLEN you sure picked a time to get on this board.... we are usually a care freeer group... seems like so many of us are hitting hard times right now. But you are a welcome breath of air for me at least... now for the rest of you.... send you cooler air and I will send this dumb heat! Yuck. Best part is..... we are in the correct time now.... dark earlier... I love it.

Oh I just love govt. rules and regs.... one of my students is running a 105 fever and has the "symptoms" of the swine flu... so they are keeping him in the med unit..... no the only reason I found this out is becuae I happened to ask where he was.. been there 3 days... and students told me.. that he was running a 105 fever.... asked AP to call and check it out..remember Mom is coming home.... med units response..."we cant tell anyone anything because of Hepa regs" but if there is a problem of course we would let staff know that we "suspect" there might be a problem... yea like they did when they closed a unit for 2 weeks and never a word was said... like they did when a kid commited suicide and they covered it up because they neglected him for over 4 hours... like they did when this student went into the med unit and they quaraentee him???? I dont believe it and when we try to send kids back because they are sick.... they bring them right back and say he is fine or that he has already seen the nurse and she said she would see him that evening if things didnt change they would talk about meds or whatever.... Needless to say I am very upset... and no, I havent felt well for 2 days.NO definite time when Mom will be brought home, care nurse was supposed to call today and make arrangements with my Dad and when he went in to see Mom the person was not in either.... so no plans right now.... Ok, how are you all doing??? Someone come up with something wonderful besides the fact that it is FRIDAY and I dont have to go to work for 2 days.... at least.

    Re: MissLizzy's Scrappin' & Stampin' Group Nov 1 - 14th

    Denise,

I'm so sorry for what you are going through. 2 years ago I almost lost my Mom because she was stubborn. In the middle of her hospital room, I lost it and yelled at her. She needed a temp feeding tube because she could not get food down due to an esophageal condition. I knew she could be "fixed" and wasn't giving up. (I've already lost my Dad and wasn't letting her give up.) The patient and visitor in the other bed were amazed I spoke to my Mom that way but they agreed she needed to hear it. She was malnourished due to her condition, which they treated but would not do agressive PT in the hospital. They wanted her moved to rehab. She couldn't even stand up by herself. She almost fell off the bed, with 3 nurses around her, at discharge! I was furious but they needed the bed. Lovely health care we have! She went to rehab and they worked with her but not aggressively either. Medicare only lets you stay there so long. So I sat down with the director and PT staff and said...she is not coming home until she can do these things...and I gave them a list of about 10 things, like step up a curb, endurance to stand to wash dishes, cook, iron and do laundry. I asked why she had been there 2 1/2 weeks and was still in a wheelchair and told them my house is not wheelchair friendly. Well, that woke them up, the next day she was walking with a walker. Now, 2+ years later she is doing everything she was before she got sick except driving. She's 78. Still stubborn but still here. My BIG lesson is you have to be persistent, you have to be an adovocate, if you don't get results, go higher. I believe all her troubles started with the drug Vytorin that I did not want her on in the first place. Needlessto say we are not longer with that doctor. We were told she would have this esophageal thing again, maybe 2 months, maybe 2 years but nothing, knock wood! Again, I think it was related to the Vytorin which can cause a side effect of weak muscles. I'l pray for your family. I know it's a very stressful time. That was some of the worst 3 months of my life.

We do have cooler air now, but a tropical storm may be on it's way. They predict the path to come very close to us by Thurs/Fri. May just be a big rainmaker, which we need. The water isn't warm enough for hurricane development, but stranger things have happened!

Today is busy...DH's campaign fundraiser tonight, b-day party to take DS2 to this afternoon plus some laundry and ironing. Not enough hours in the day and by 8:30 I'm wiped!

Hope everyone has a nice weekend!

ELLEN Thank you for telling me about your Mother and I am so happy to see that she is doing well now. I will be checking to see if she is taking Vtorin in a little bit. Sounds to me like stubborness comes to those that are in their upper 70's... and I just thought it was in young children.... now I know where they get it from.... their grandparents! I have been the advocate for her as much as possible and will continue to be. I have already warned my Dad that he has got to be more stern with her, of course he agrees now... but we will see what happens when she gets home.60 yrs of marriage and habits.., is hard to break. Not sure when she will be coming home since the nurse did not call yesterday but I figure every day there is not a bad thing at least that is one day more under medical supervision and being better.Yes, there is a long road ahead of us, but I am willing to walk this road.... with a few outbursts I am sure.............................. What is your dh running for? Sounds like you have your hands full.... be sure to carve some ME time out.... even if it is just a longer hot bath. Every one have a wonderful day and enjoy your family and friends to the fullest.
