    Quilter's Chat for November~

    Coffee

    Good morning Everyone!

Well I have been real sick and I am trying to decide if it was THE flu or not! We have lots of students with it so chances are good for me to have/get it. The vaccines are so scarce that I will get it before I could possibly be vaccinated.

I set aside all the quilt tops I need to back and realized I have 11 to finish so I decided to finish all of them before I start another (but I think I tried that before) So we will so how I do.

    Have a great November. Chris

    Good Morning All

Chris I hope you are feeling alot better. In our province the only people who can get the vaccine are those at high risk. I don't have a problem with that. I would rather see a child or pregnant mom get it then me. By the time there is enough available for someone like me I sure it will be close to being over with.

Mary Jane I think I know the pattern you have picked for your new quilt. The colours you have choosen sound very nice.

I've been away. Welcoming our new DGS and helping out our DD a bit. We got a healthy 10lb DGS after a very long labour followed by a C-section. DD was starting to feel alot better when we left and I needed to get back to work.

I had to cancel the quilt class I was listed to take as it was on when I was away. Baby was late. I thought we would be out there and back before the class. It will be after Christmas before I will beable to take it now.  I'm doing it in batiks. It is supposed to be a scrappy quilt. I've never used batiks before so of course don't have any scraps. I've  been carrying a bag of fabric arround buying batiks that work for me. I have enough yardage to make my quilt but I'm still buying. LOL I found several pieces in the city DD lives in.

Chris I have two started quilts. One is part embroidery. The embroidery is started and will be my carry arround for months to come. The other one I started for my DDIL. Since it is the only real sewing I have to do I've decided to get at it for her Christmas gift. I thought if I could get it machine quilted I might beable to get it done for Christmas. If I have it back from the quilter and don't have time to bind it, I will still give it and then take it back to bind. Maybe a strange way to do things but she is hard to buy for and she has hinted very strongely that she would like a quilt. I don't think she would mind.

It has been so quiet here I hope it is not because others besides Chris is sick.  Take care Marlene

This site is acting strange, so don't know if my response here will print or not.

I guess we have all been pretty busy.  Not much activity going on.  DH and I are in the process of buying a house, so most of our time is spent with this project.  We haven't closed on it yet, that will happen in about a week, but there seem to be plenty of things we have to do to get ready.  We are downsizing to a smaller house,  which  presents many problems when you  try to figure out what goes and what can't  possibly fit in the new place.   So it's quite a challenge.

I'm working in my quilting around this project, have it all cut out and about half of the squares put together.  I am anxious to see how it all goes together once it is finished.  I really think I am going to like this one.

My dear sweet granddaugter is going to join us for Thanksgiving weekend and we so look forward to having her come to visit.  I plan to spend the whole weekend just visiting with her ... the house can wait and so can the quilting.  I'll be able to give her the quilt I made for her and she can take it back with her to school.

Chris, hope you are over the flu.  There are so many people that have had it.  We have missed it so far, but we are in the group of old people who aren't having as big a problem with it.  So guess there are some things good about getting old.  LOL

Congratulations, Marlene, on the new little one.  Guess he wasn't all that little though.  Nice big boy.   My mother always had big babies, and she said it was easier to take care of them, diapering them and all.  Sorry your DD had to endure such a long labor.   ... Mary Jane

    Hi Everyone

Mary Jane I can just imagine what a big job you have ahead. When I think about down sizing this house I just shudder. In the last few years I've worked hard at getting rid of stuff and it is still full. LOL   Enjoy every minute of Thanksgiving and your DGD.

I finished my quilt and have sent it off to be quilted. I was supprised how little time it did take once I got at it. If I want to sew I do have five diapers to finish. I have fabric for a quilt class in Jan. So I don't want to spend anymore. If I get the urge I might try some kind of scrap pattern for a preemie quilt. I should try and use up some flannelette scraps.

Chris I hope both you and your DH are doing well.

Just had an email from DGD and her Thanksgiving break will start a day earlier than she thought, so we will have her a day longer than we had expected, which is wonderful.  She is a darling girl and is so precious to us.  I have a hard time imagining her driving here as I still think of her as a little girl.  They grow up way toooo fast.

We continue to "unload" stuff that we don't want to move to the "new" house.  Had a yard sale over this past weekend which got rid of a lot of things we no longer need.  It is amazing how people will pay you to haul off your old junk for you.  LOL  We think the closing on the house will be this Friday, but there are things to do before we can move in.  Presently taking bids on a new roof and we will want to have carpet installed.  That will be a lot easier before we move all the furniture in.  We also need a new kitchen stove.  We have a list of things to do since this "new" place is a fixer-upper, so we may not get moved until after the Holidays.

I try to work on the Stars and Pinwheels quilt each morning.  I am up earlier than DH, so spend that time in my "quilting factory" as he so puts it.  I have about 13 squares finished and need a total of 24, so am coming along, considering how little time I have to spend on it.  Once this new house is officially ours my time for quilting may come to an end for a while, at least until we are settled.  One thing I dread about moving is getting my internet connection switched.  Do hope I don't have to get in touch with the "man in India"  to get it transferred.  I am just not up on computer language and they can get so upset with you if you don't understand.  Wish me luck on that.

Chris, you are very quiet these days.  Hope everything is OK.  Everybody seems to be busy ... maybe the holiday shopping has started early.    .... Mary Jane
