Sad fact: I am getting old

So I was watching Season 5 of "Project Runway" on DVD last night. Season 5 is a fairly recent season, and therefore seems to feature a number of recently revived 80s fashion trends. Now, don't get me wrong - 80s fashion was good to me. I was in elementary school in the 80s and I couldn't get enough neon and color-washed jeans.

HOWEVER, I will freely admit that the fact that I followed the trends back in the 80s doesn't make those trends RIGHT. Neon leggings are kind of like nuclear weapons: Just because we HAVE them doesn't mean we should USE them.

So I realized that I just can't get used to a lot of the popular trends right now. And I realized that this probably means that I'm getting old. I think I should just embrace it and recognize that age comes with wisdom.....Right?

Honey, getting old you are not!! I was in elementary school when Franklin D. Roosevelt was president-now that is old..lol..but your comments do reflect what all of us go thru-looking back and seeing some of the hideous fashions we thought were the 'cat's meow' at the time we wore them..It is my personal opinion that the best fashions were in the 40's, as they were the epitome of glamour (jmo). In watching some of the old movies from that era, to me, it makes the hair spiking, lip piercing, bare b u t s hanging out, look pretty freakish and far from uplifting the truly beautiful human form...again JMO..T

I agree re: the 40s. Love 40s fashion. I also love a lot of 60s fashion.

I think I feel old now because I am staring my thirtieth birthday in the face (coming up VERY soon), and also because I was REALLY, REALLY frustrated with Project Runway, to the point where I thought to myself, "These *** young people today..." WHOOPS.

I know what you mean!  I was a kid in the 80s.  And I won't be wearing that stuff again.  But what I am seeing in the young people today were more stuff in the very late 80s early 90s.  Oh yea, I loved the layered neon, roll up the sleeves shirts, and yes, leggings, though I never ever got neon leggings!  Tight tight jeans, big baggie tops.  Big hair.  Girls sleepovers where we talked about boys, we were sure we were in love forever and ever, the man of our dream! LOL.  Oh yes, those days bring back many fond memories.

Old?   OLD???    I was born four days after World War Two ended and went through my teens in late fifties and early sixties - now those were some fashions then - the orginal mini skirts and Mary Quant hair do's!!

LOL - how true.  We've been living in a senior area for about 9 years now.  I can't get full SS until 66 though - I'm hoping there will be some still left.

we live in a MAJOR senior area here in AZ...so I know old....lol

and have noticed there are 2 kinds of old folks....

happy and content...life has been as planned and their kids and grandkids are decent and they are HAPPY and busy.....that is the big key...HAPPY....

then there are the other old crankies....nothing is good....life stinks for them and their kids have nothing to do with them...they are UNHAPPY all the time, complain about everything...they have to much time on their hands and don't make use of anything near them...

and around here there is so much to do....tennis, pickle ball, golf, bowling, baseball, cycling, cards and board games groups, clubs of all sorts, guided tours everywhere...great libraries, craft groups galore....

we bowl on fridays with an all senior group...and they are a hoot...several are into their 90's...we are the youngest...they had to take a "special" vote for my sister...she was ONLY 49 at the time....LOL...

I want to be the "happy" active adult....happy with my life....and frankly have never worried about the latest "fashions".....I wear what I wear....you are only as young as you feel!!!!!
