    • Today is National Candy Day. The PMCA, a national association of candy manufacturers, knows nothing about this, so. . . let's also note that this is Good Nutrition Month. The opposing forces battle it out on this day. Feel the strife!

Happy Birthday, Cilla! Have a wonderful day of celebration! Do you have your father's name in all his clothes? It's especially important if he's in a home where all the laundry is done together, or the girls won't know where to return them.

My logs are finally starting to burn well in the stove. Sometimes there's not enough pull in the sky and they don't burn as well. I'm not sure if you know what I mean. I'm translating an expression my DH uses. I'm sleeping on the couch again with my legs elevated on pillows. Have to work a shift tomorrow so my feet have to behave. There is a lovely warmth coming from the stove. Wood heat is sooooooooo much nicer than natural gas. Don't like the dust it creates (ash), but I guess that comes with it.

Wishing you all a great day!   JP

Cilla, have a wonderful birthday as we all think of you today.

It is too early to have news yet, but I expect a lazy day as I did a lot (for me) yesterday.  Nancy B

    Good Morning Everyone,

Cilla, I'm wishing you a BIG HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!    Cake   Hope everything goes smooth for you today and you can really enjoy yourself!

Good luck with finding your dad's clothes.    The first time Floyd was in the nursing home, I brought alll his clothes home and washed them myself, the next time, I decided they were charging so much money per day, they might just as well do his laundry and a lot of things went missing, never to be found again.

JP hope your feet are feeling better this morning.

Sandy, how is your DH today?

We have a new town supervisor today,  the one responsible for us getting our senior center was voted out,  I hope this doesn't effect our Senior Center.    Someone was trying to build a new assisted living center, which we desperately need as there is none around here, the new supervisor was against this, so guess that will not happen now.

Nothing planned for today, the back yard is filled with leaves again, so that will keep me out of michief, I'll be so glad when they have all fallen and are carted away!!!!

May you all have a great day,

    Mabel

    • Good morning!
    • Happy happy Cilla!  Wishing you a day filled with sunshine, friends, family and NO hiccups!
    • I'll send hugs and prayers to the rest of you, yesterday was a day that shouldn't have been and today is starting out just the same.  Nothing serious just everything I touch turns to poop instead of gold.  Will be back when I'm fit to live with.
    • You are loved!!

CoffeeLady.gif picture by Kathleen1963  G' mornin Folks.   Had my first ever CT Scan yesterday. Painless, fast, and the technician gave me the "heads up" that I would feel a bit of warmth when she injected the iodine into my veins. The drive home would have been quicker, but I kept seeing the flashing lights ahead, on the side of the road and some poor soul that was pulled over by a state trooper. Sigh. Hard to cruise at a measly 80 mph when I had to keep slowing down to a 70 mph crawl.

Margaret -- hope everything goes well with your sons MIL.

JP -- sometimes the mess is worth the pleasure of a warm, crackling fire.

Sandy -- did you find out what is happening with your DH and how is he at this time?

Nancy B -- depressed friend. She needs intervention. Why so much weight loss to the point of not being recognized by friends? Hair neglected. They are supposed to have a hairdresser available. That would help her a wee bit.

Cilla -- good luck on finding the clothes. I went through Hell when Pop was in the nursing home. I wrote his name in permanent laundry marker AND had his name machine embroidered on the front of his clothes, all to no avail. Finally, I got with the administrator of the facility. We made an itemized list, together, of every item in his room. Names on socks, wall clock, clothes hangers, shoes, furniture, etc. The facility had a policy to replace lost items. (smiling hugely) They were constantly having to purchase watches, clothing, etc. I would go buy the missing items, give them the receipts and they would reimburse me.

Leisa -- I am acquainted, slightly, with a lady that owns a large ranch, in a small town about 40 miles away, and ranch land somewhere in New Mexico. She raises and sells Elk to folks that turn 'em loose for hunters. (yes, she has a legal license to do so)

Penny -- was it you that recently mentioned making tons of fudge?

Twotulia -- it's always nice to find an unexpected friendship.

Helen -- Let us know how the new keyboard works out once you have had a chance to adapt to it. I, personally, am interested. I googled the below picture from the Overstock site.

Rosie -- don't touch anything around here, I got enough to "shovel".

Good morning, Another beautiful day in the neighborhood.

Zora - It was nice to see so many long lost faces. The headache finally left late last night. Maybe seeing Mark Harmon on NCIS helped. I took meds and slept off and on most of the day. We are overrun with computers also, 3 laptops, l desk top.

Margaret E. - Glad things went well with DS's MIL's surgery. Will continue to keep her in prayer. Hope you have a great day.

JP - I love wood heat in the winter also, but like you hate the dusty mess it makes. I have gas logs in the fireplace and sometimes consider taking them out. I don't use them a lot.

    Good morning Nancy B.

Mabel - You into michief, surely you jest. Is your town supervisor like a mayor?. We have a new assisted living home here. We also have an adult daycare. Maybe the leaves will be gone soon.

Rosie - Oh my, I will not say another word.

Beverly - My only problem with a CT depends on how far in I have to go. Don't you hate the flashing lights, especially when you are in a hurry. Better to see them on the side of the road with someone else than behind you. lol

Well I've been busy med. boxes done, 2 loads washed, l dried, other in the dryer, visited with my wonderful friends. Now to fold towels. Think I will do one of two things go out to lunch or go get lunch and eat in.

    Hugs to all,

    Brenda

Good afternoon from a cool & cloudy Indiana, it's only 47 out there, DH still out in the fields, hauling corn........will be glad when it's all done.

A special Happy Birthday to our Cilla........hope you have the best day ever.

Beverly......yes, it's me that makes so much fudge, have 18 lb. in the freezer, that should make quite a few goodie trays........my SIL's love it.  Of course DH has to snitch a few pieces.  Now in the process of making cookies.

Just got finished cleaning our bedrood & have a load of jeans in the dryer, have to do checkbook stuff & get to the bank, will be picking up Jacob also.

Cilla.......had the same thing with the clothes when Mom was in a nursing home, got so tired of them losing things, I finally just started doing the laundry for her.  They managed to break a brand new pair of glasses also........grrrr!

Hope everyone is having a great day.

Loosing things, not keeping mom clean enough etc are just some of the reasons my sisters moved mom from Yuma to Phx. The real underlying problem is that these nursing homes don't want to pay the help what they are worth. The hire minimally educationed people and give them minimun training and put them in charge of other people's lives. The gals in Yuma would come in and speak spanish in front of mom. Yes, mom did speak a little spanish, but how rude! Cilla, you should make an inventory. My sister did when they moved her, and sis filed it with the administrator too. It worked. Nothing was lost.

Oh dear, I just saw a thing on the MSN home page about making it illegal to own more than four cats. Cats and I are in trouble.

Love to all...........................Rosie, "Mamma said there would be days like this.....days like this".

Music Music HAPPY BIRTHDAY, dear CILLA. Special wishes for a special lady.

ZORA, keep on protecting that owie finger. Soon you'll be tapping the 'puter keys, lickety-split.

MARGARET E, prayers continue for DS's MIL. Things sound good, so far. You had craft night a while ago, I'm getting ready for the one at church on Friday. Most of the young women are working in their scrapbooks. I usually make cards or take some needlework.

JP, I sure wish those tootsies would get completely better. Must be hard when you have to be up and down at work.

NANCY B, one busy day calls for two of rest.

MABEL, praying that new supervisor knows how much the senior activities are needed. How old is he? Just tell him, hey bud, someday you will be in these shoes----think about it.

Sending ROSIE a can of spray paint to change that icky stuff into a shining experience.

BEVERLY, never had a CT or MRI. And, having claustrophobia not anxious to ever need one. Suppose you have to wait for the results, now.

BRENDA, watching "Jethro and Ducky" goes on in this house, too. But, I like all the characters on that show.

PENNY, is the fudge all one kind? Or are there some other flavors besides chocolate? Lucky friends and neighbors you have when the holiday comes around.

HELEN, that's a great keyboard to get----and let us know how well it works for you.

LEISA, no elk here, but we love it. Only a freezer full of venison. In fact, backstrap steaks for dinner, tonight.

CILLA, clothes problem when my mom was in rehab, too. Even tho' I marked everything, the new robes and tops would disappear. I kept an inventory like BEVERLY and got reimbursed for the missing items. Plus, to make sure she was being well taken care of, we visited at different times each day. And, sometimes it was me and sometimes Russell.

Hey, TIPPY, any snow in your neck of the woods? A Grannie in Tigerton had big flakes today. We had rain with a few flakes, but nothing on the ground but moisture.

Did quilting at church this morning, now it's on to Target, Michaels and the food store.

Hugs and prayers for all CS.

    Nancy Z.
