    Re: 11-4-09 Grannie Neighborhood

Good morning. The poor garbage man took all of our leaves yesterday and looking at our front yard you can't even tell that they were ever picked up. But, the tree is starting to look bare so it must be coming to an end. The neighbor across the street got his into big piles so that they blow better. So, that's another sign that they are almost done.

Cjayh I always hate hearing those words "rain with a little snow" any time of the season. Hope they are wrong for you. Have a nice lunch with DM and hope the crud is finally leaving.

Christa that's just what I had for breakfast, toast and jam. Quick simple and doesn't make many dirty dishes.

GU what color did you decide on?

Suzie have fun sewing. That's what I want to do this afternoon. I have two baby quilts that I have to finish by the 17th.

Justme your next few weeks are just right. SHORT.

Apple that doesn't sound like the kind of sales that you normally have. Hope you can stay busy, but at least you get paid for your time.

Cleo it's nice that you still go to the nursing home to play. We still go once in awhile with the dogs. It's the same way with some of the people there. It's the only time some of them ever smile and that make it all worth it.

Stylist I really like your picture. As I said to Suzie that's what I want to do today. Hope you have fun with what ever you decide.

Guess if I want to get to that sewing I had better get off of here and do my walk. Hope everyone has a good day. Have to go walk.

    Good morning, grannies.

CJAY, some of those flakes may have fallen here overnight, but right now the ground just looks wet. You'll be seeing lots of pretty leaves, today. Glad you're feeling better.

CP, hope Sugar smells better, today. I like banana on toast.

GLEE, woo-hoo, pretty tootsies for you, again. I see those blue nails to match that outfit.

SUZI, sewing will be fun, but don't forget to get up and stretch, too. Don't want you all stiff from sitting.

WANDA, hoping you have a better day at the laundromat. Guess you'll have to save those quarters and bring a pocketful from home.

KATHIE, wow, barn sounds like a nice place. Items sound like the hoard of a pack rat. Hope the sale goes well. Let's squash the "spitting of  you know what" for a long time.

JANE, everything you described sounds very nice. Our Christmas by Candlelight is Dec. 1st. No table for me, I will just be a guest.

CLEO, what a great thing to do. Do you play all kinds of music or are requests made for favorites? I am in the Kitchen Band at the Sr. Center and we play lots of "oldies". And, I mean oldies.

SHARON B, any side trips on the way home from taking the girls to school?

STYLIST, some of you gather around the sewing machine. I'm not in that group. I was sorry to see Mark go on DWTS, I think he's better than a couple other dancers. But, I can always watch him on Iron Chef America on the Food Channel.

GRAMMY is off to the Mission. The group to feed may be smaller today. Wonder if she comes home with a goody or two.

CHARLEEN, glad that slush is over in MI. We don't want any here in WI just yet. But, we do have colder temps now, too. Is this another Mary day?

Hope to make it to quilting at church this morning, then it will be food shopping (double coupon day), another store or two and then bell practice tonight. Now, the Maytag is asking to be emptied. BBL

GRAMMY  Good morning.  You put me to shame with all you do and are doing.  What an inspiration you are.  The wedding really is coming fast and I can sense the excitement.  Isn't it good to see "our kids" grow and make good and wise decisions?  Have a wonderful day at the Mission and don't get too tired, Becca wants her Grannie time!!!

SHARONB  You sure take good care of your DGC.  Be safe today.

BB  Oh yuck, the slushy white stuff sure isn't what I want to see!  Have a good day.

ALBY  I'm with you, getting off here and getting my walk in.  It sure isn't what I want to do but first things first, right?

ATV  I did think Mark was good too.  It's really a close call now.  Have fun with the quilting ladies.

    Re: 11-4-09 Grannie Neighborhood

Good Morning. The weatherman had predicted showers for this morning, but the sun is shining. It is 32*.

CJ, glad the cough is getting better. Do you hear from the kids in S.A. or are they too busy having a great time?

Hi CP. I have one banana in the bowl that is smelling up the kitchen. Time for the garbage pail, I'm thinking!

Glee, enjoy the nail session. When do you leave for your trip?

Suzi, I'm closing my sewing room door and "looking" at cleaning the rest of the house. Maybe I'll just look! LOL

Wanda, is your washer broken or what is the reason for going to the laundromat?

Jane, clever idea, far to clever for me to design! LOL And I'm sure the tree will be lovely. I remember how pretty they all looked.

Cleo, a number of people come in and play at our N.H. We used to have a "mentally challenged" man in town who could play any tune if someone hummed the first line. He would come in and sit down and start playing, sometimes so often, the nurses would have to send him out. But God gave him a wonderful talent. There is a younger man in the town I worked who is blind and mentally challenged, who also went into that town's N.H. and had the same ability. But that N.H. closed and it was a sad day for him.

Good Morning to Sharon and Grammy. Enjoy your days.

Had a good visit with our kids last evening. Terri wants me to make a quilt for DS's truck for Christmas. She picked out material from my stash and will buy the rest of the stuff. He has one that I made for his Dad and they were together out in Baltimore, when DS was given a chance to start driving when another driver became ill. He had no bedding with him, so DH gave him this quilt and he's had it ever since. So it is at least 30 years old. I guess I made it pretty good! LOL

Time to get moving if I want to get anything done. BBL>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

    Re: 11-4-09 Grannie Neighborhood

Just got back from my walk.  It's  a beautiful here today.

ATV, I play all kinds of music, including requests.   I have a set of READERS DIGEST song books.  They are big books - each has a different theme.  I have one of songs from early 1900's and others from more recent times.  Also play lots of hymns.  My sister made a memory book for DM that had the story of her life in pictures, along with newspaper articles and pictures of achievements in her nursing careet.  We encouraged the staff to read it.  It helped them, as well as mother, know "who she was".   We got so many comments on it.  One of the nurse's aides recognized that one of mother's former co-workers was a patient in a room down the hall, and she took mother down the hall for a visit.  I touches me so when I think of that.

Hi to all who've come in behind me.  Got to get ready to go.

    Gooooooood Morning, Grannies!!

I hope there is coffee on the table. I need that as it is cold and big snowflakes coming down.

Cjayh, It is good to hear your cough is getting less. Happy eating with DM and shopping at WM.

Christa, I will have piece of toast with my coffee.

GU, Will you be wearing those turquoise shoes with matching polish? Those will work good in FL. Not to good around here right now.

Suzi, I hope you get lots done in your sewing room today.

Wanda, It sounds like a hard couple of weeks at work for you. Wink

Apple, That sounds like and interesting place and an interesting sale.

Jane, You have such nice sounding projects for the Fantasy.

Cleo, When DD worked at a nursing home she sometimes played the piano. The residents always seem to enjoy that. Those RD books are great. When I played more I used to get them from the library.

Sharonb, I hope your day stays nice.

Stylist, I hope the quilt is coming along good.

Grammy, How nice to know that Becca is looking forward to some Grammy. I'm sure you are looking forward to some Becca time.

BB, Are you doing anything interesting today?

Alby, Will we be seeing the pictures of the quilts when you are done. Happy sewing!

Nancy, What part of the quilting at church do you do?

Lily, Making that quilt should be a fun project for you.

    Liny, Hi and Bye

My bananas should be thawed out by this time so I will make some banana bread. Then I hope to finish the last quilt before going to chuch.

Woohoo!  Got the clothes washed but not without problems.  Got the clothes in, washers going and then put the detergent in.  Well emptied the one bottle and opened the full one and realized it was softner instead.  So had to run and get detergent from the machine.  But I survived!

Now the reason I do laundry in town....yes I have a washer at home but lines for outgoing water are ran into a pipe that eventually ends up in a ditch.  Well the sewer is going through and DH doesn't want the water going out that way so hooked the lines into the septic tank but now doesn't want all that water going into the tank.  Grrrrrrr!  He gives me the money so what the heck, like was said, in 35 minutes I'm done and on my way back home where at home it would take probably at least 3 hours.  But I will be glad when this is over.  It's a sore subject at home so just go with the flow.

I have stuffed peppers in the crockpot so supper is already planned.  Might tidy the house tonight so I don't have to do that later in the week and I can enjoy my time off.

Well, I might as well post because so much has happened since I started this and I can't remember what everyone else said.

    So I'll BBL.

JUSTME  When we first got married, I had to go to the laundromat and would go with my MIL.  It cost $.20 for the washer and $.10 for the dryer.  Wow, can you imagine now??

GRAM  I've never tried freezing bananas.  Is there a secret to doing it?

LINY  I bet you're busy in the kitchen.  Is the Christmas music going or is it Alan Jackson?  I have the one of hymns and also of Christmas.  He's one of DH's favorite singers so he has some of his other CD's.

I have the bathrooms cleaned, the entrance mopped, laundry going and one load done.  Dh is out feeding the birds.  The sun peeks out here ocassionally but it's still cold.

I am on my way to take a shower and then will engage my sewing machine. Woohoo!  DH made me an egg sandwich for my bkfst and with fresh coffee I am a happy Granny.
Let me brag a little----There are new pics of Ridley on my facebook wall. Anyone on facebook can see them.  Also one or two of our DGS who goes to Purdue=Big Joe. He is his DGF all over. Big and tall, walks the same and is very laid back. Wants to teach History and Coach when he graduates.  But that is today, I have found a lot changes when they go to college.LOL
Justme---I always have hated carrying my laundry to the laundry mat but loved the way that when I went home it was all ready to put away at once.
Got to go and get my shower. I'll take breaks to visit the necessary room and will check in on the Grannies.        BBL      Suzi

Good Wednesday morning, grannies.  I'm going to practice saying the day until I remember what day it is--my day started off when I got in the shower and immediately wet my hair to wash it--I just did that yesterday and I usually wash it every other day--been off ever since!

Busy,  busy here, but just wanted to check in.  So glad that CJAY's cough is some better .  I see Stylist and Suzi are hunkered down at their sewing machines and smiling as they sew.  Grammy is going to get some special time with DGD Becca--after she gives some special time at the mission!  Justme got her washing done!  Not sure I understand the water situation, but had to laugh at the "going with the flow" analogy--it kind of fit!  Bet LINY is about done baking for the day already.  ALBY is probably  done with her walk by now and Cleo will be tinkling the ivories to the enjoyment of the NH residents.  What a great bunch of grannies in this neighborhood.  You all make me proud to know you!

Hope everyone has a good day....
