Need advice on making cake in ice cream cones

My grand-daughter will be celebratiing her 2nd birthday soon.  I want to make cake in ice cream cones for her party.  I did research on this but I am totally confused. Embarrassed Some recipes state to put the cake in the cone, and bake, another would say, to wrap the cone in foil, then bake, and still another recipe would state to cook cupcakes as directed on cake box, and put cupcake in the cone. Now...... next I need to know how much batter goes into the cone. Do I fill the cone half way with the batter, or 2/3 thirds of the way, or almost to the top. A baker I'm not, so any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated. The theme to her party is a circus theme, and I thought this would be cute for all the little darlings attending the big 2nd year old bash. Party!!!

    Thanks Gail

I always put the cones into muffin cups to lend stability putting in the oven and removing. Just fill like a muffin cup about 3/4 full or whatever. Get fancy and put different flavored layers in there...

Reality is for people who lack imagination.

That is how I make them too.I just put the cone in the muffin pan and fill 3/4 full and bake as directed on the cake mix box for cupcakes.
