    Canadian Corner 11/05/09

    Good Morning Friends,

I was ready to post earlier when my DS came on the IM and had a chat with him.

André is improving everyday and he said I can go back to work if I wanted so I am going to work today.

He pretty well does evrything for himself now, he is recovering preety good. The Dr. said that the sternum takes the longest to heal that can take up to three months.

The funeral I went to yesterday was a sad one, Peggy was loved by all, her poor DH was a sad case to look at he probably won't last too long without her.

    Have a great day everyone.

Good morning Maria -- so it is "off to work you go"  Don't overdo as you must be tired also.  Did you have a nice chat with DS??

That's sad.  My dad had trouble too after my mom died -- very natural -- but he is better now but i'm sure he still has hurting times every single day.

I got up with David -- off to work -- but I did not want to -- I may go back for a bit.

I sure like the Google today -- liked yesterday's also

Good morning to all who follow OR are typing as I type

Forgot to say it yesterday -- but ditto me on the porridge -- my mom made some sort of HORRIBLE stuff that we had to eat but it wasn't breakfast food -- but had oatmeal in it -- who remembers everything about it -- do remember the name -- but it's Dutch and I wouldn't be able to spell it -- anyways oatmeal -- super yuckie!!  And I know it's good for you -- but no way, no how

    Good morning,

We're finished.  Did you see the happy dance?

DH was up and gone hunting with his DB before I got my eyes open this morning.  I have today for me.   I'm thinking that I'd like to play in my sewing area. There are several projects needing attention/play there.

The temperatures are climbing and there is a long spell of sunshine in our future.  A late fall but we so deserve some fantastic days. We could have double digits later today.

Have a super duper day.      Pat

Good morning Pat.  I am up again.  Had a good little nap -- if you can call it that.  You have a great "ME" day.

Good morning from a warm northern place!  it's well above freezing, I think about 7º!!  Lucky for Dan, as he is pouring about 8 truck loads of cement today, yikes, that could take al day for it to cure, especially as it is dyed, and so can't have so much hardner put in, blah blah blah.  I'm starting to really understand this stuff, but won't bore you all with the details.

Maria, I'm sure your clients will be very happy to see you back again, and just in time for the weekend!  That's great that Andre is able to take care of himself, seems it went quickly.

Aleida, a comfy clothes day, hmmmm, I do that to somtimes, but I try to get dressed before DH comes home, he really doesn't care for sweat pants, gotta be jeans, sigh.

Pat, glad you consider the sewing room a play room.  If it was me, it would be called the torture chambers!

Good Morning! +1 here, going for a high of 13. A truly lovely day. And I'm off till tomorrow. I'll be in and out today. Need to do a bit of tidy-up in the garage. I'll pace myself, I promise, okay, because I have a very long shift coming up.

Today I need to gather up some paperwork for Transamerica, dealing with a small RRSP. We have a rep coming to town to talk with those who's funds are maturing soon to get further instruction. Wish we could just take it out to pay down our mortgage. But we'll see. We don't understand these things. Simple language, please.

YF I'm so thrilled that Andre is progressing so well and you can return to work. God's mercies are new every morning and He has granted Andre a new lease on life.

Pat, I'm happy that you were able to finish your harvest. Enjoy your "retirement" months, where equipment breakdowns and nasty weather are frustrations you no longer need to think about (till next year...Wink ). Horray! Did you decide on your new vehicle? Did you know the girl who drowned in N.D.?

Char, you can be thankful your hubby is so talented! Making crafts and organizers in the winter months will help to fill his time, is relaxing and will bring in some extra coin when he's not doing his regular work. Does he make those concrete and rock planters, too? Would I love one or 2 of those! Oh my! But it would cost a fortune to drive the truck to BC and back to get them.

Now who started this oatmeal topic? I, too, have bad memories about oatmeal. My mother used to make very lumpy porridge and we would get it for dessert, can you imagine. And we had to eat it, even if it threatened to come back up. Then you were greeted with a fist across the mouth. My DH makes himself oatbran porridge every morning. His is never lumpy. He makes it in the microwave. I think DM used to make it with milk instead of water. That may have been the problem.

Aleida, if you describe your mother's oatmeal concoction I might be able to identify it. Try to spell it as it sounds and that would help. Or are you thinking about that barley stuff in sour milk? Some people make it with buttermilk.

Off to shower and dress, and do a few basic tasks here. Have a productive day, ladies.

Not yet!  But he has created some bizzare things with cement and forms and water and dye.  I certainly havent seen all his work, mostly just hear about it.  He has thought about getting into concrete etching.  No one does it aroound here, and other places, they are easily charging $5 a square foot!!  He's looked into it, but of course, it costs about $10,000 to get the tools and education.  You know, if you could predict the future, you would know wether or not it would be profitable!  But God doesn't give us insite into the Future, just trust and faith.  To step out, or not.  Usually taking a risk is worth it in the end.  This is an area where few tread.  Could have him doing a lot of travel, which would be great in the summer months.  Decesions!

    Re: Canadain Corner 11/05/09

Good morning boys and girls. Looks like I started something with the mention of that dreaded oatmeal! My mother always got up around 5:30 to start a fire in the kitchen stove and to turn on our oil heater. As soon as the kitchen stove was going, she'd put the oatmeal on, and by the time we got up around 6:30 it was already done and congealed in the pan. If we had turned the pan upside down, it would have come out all in one big glob. Ew. I swore that I'd never make my kids eat oatmeal...and wouldn't you know it, they discovered oatmeal on their own when they had it at their friends' houses after sleepovers! And they loved the stuff. I've tried, but I still loathe it. I've even tried the instant stuff that comes in flavors, but can't eat that, either. I do like cream of wheat. When I was a kid, there was a cereal called Malt-o-Meal that was kind of chocolate-y, and I liked that. I don't even know if Malt-o-Meal exists anymore.

Could the Dutch stuff be called scrapple? I don't know what scrapple is, but I've heard of it as a breakfast food. JP, oatmeal served for dessert? Ew. Sounds like a punishment for finishing dinnerAngry

My favorite meal to eat out is breakfast. When I'm lucky enough to go out for breakfast, I order two scrambled Egg Beaters, whole wheat toast, link sausage, hash browns and orange juice. Yeah, yeah, I know that sausage is on my list of never-to-be-eaten foods, but it's not like I have sausage more than twice a year. Even my doctor said that if we're on a strict diet of any kind and never treat ourselves, we'll fail miserably. Anyway, that's my rationalizationSmile Note that I order Egg Beaters instead of fresh eggs and order whole wheat toast.

And speaking of things that I'm not supposed to eat, Tuesday night we had ham for dinner, and I ate a piece. So shoot me!

I bowled this morning, and ladies, I have to tell you that I bowled better than I ever did before in my whole life. Can you believe it? My first game was a 143 (unheard of for me!), second was a 148! and third was only a 112, but it means that I finally had a 400 series. I hope I don't break my arm patting myself on the back! Trust me when I say that I'm not athletic or well-coordinated, so this was a real red-letter day for me.

Pat, harvest done. I bet you and your DH are both over the moon about that. And nice weather for a few days more has got to be a nice bonus. Have fun in your sewing room...maybe you could whip me up a proper Christmas stocking since it looks like Aleida doesn't have me on the priority list.

YF, back to work and it's not even like the time off was a vacation. Do your clients do nothing when you're gone and just save it up until you get back? That's gotta be a lot of work. My Wednesday clients are every other week, and yesterday was the first time back after cleaning for them the first time. I was glad to see that they are as tidy as I thought they were, so going two weeks between cleanings is fine for them. We'll see how the other Wednesday client is when I go there next week.

Another stellar fall day here. Temp should be around 22 again. Sun's out. I love fall in the South. It's supposed to sNOw in the UP today.

Well Noudder -- that's when we had it too.  I didn't say so -- didn't want to gross anyone out -- instead I said "not a breakfast food".  My mom called it  -- am going to spell it like it sounds -- drolikiss pap -- and it was yuckky -- we could have it warm or cold.  And like you said, it could threaten to come back up.  I used to make a deal with my sister,  "You eat this for me and I will do the dishes for you."  I was always doing dishes -- haha
