    Re: 11-06-09 - Grannie Neighborhood

I went up to my sewing room shortly before 10 a.m. and have been up there ever since, except to come down for the LGR and coffee warm up. I cut and sewed pieces together for another quilt top, then cut a lot of small squares and sewed together in one long row. I'll cut them apart (I think every 11) for strips for a REAL patchwork top. Several were sewn together in a box that Fran gave me, so I just cut more to match the size. I think there are about 75 or so in the string, so need lots more. I'll go through my odd sized pieces and cut more to fit another day.  Now it is BRT! (Book reading time) for me and rest my back.

Our sunshine all disappeared, but it is still very windy. Gusts to 30 mph and more. Tomorrow is supposed to be GREAT!

I wasn't surprised about the second shooting today. I told DH last night that we'd probably hear of another copycat one somewhere. Seems to happen every time. I think Sharon isn't real far from Orlando?

Thanks for the updated picture Fran. But it is getting crowded! LOL

Cleo, after seeing your picture, don't think you need much "beautifying".

Grammy, with all those people around, I can only saw I'm glad it's you and not me!!!!

Nancy, Wouldn't that be fun if you and Glee could meet up at the craft show?

Some of you were talking about loving to shop (look). I used to love to do that with my best friend back in MI. We'd go every week and had lunch at Kresge's lunch counter. I can go with someone or alone, enjoy it both ways.

    Off to my book.............

     Good Afternoon...

Never made it here this morning.  I checked once and the door wasn't open.  I just didn't feel like looking for my keys to open the door, so waited for someone else to do it.  Then it was time for me to leave by time I checked back.

Woke up with a headache and stuffed up.  But at least the cough is almost gone.

My prayers are with all the families of the Ft. Hood tragedy.

Gram...thanks for the new group picture.

DD is on her way home for the weekend.  Not sure if Biscuit is coming too, or not.  Guess I'll find out soon.  But I think if any of the roommates are going to be in the apartment, they will take care of him.

Greenback...my DD has windows 7 and really likes it.  Since she is a computer science major, she got it free at school some time ago...before it was released in stores.  I know you will all enjoy the special Christmas show.

ATV...what kind of pie will the boys be enjoying from you??  Oh..I see a peach pie...one of my favorites.

Grammy....sounds like good times at your house soon.  I know how much you love company.

Cleo...enjoy your supper out.  I'm waiting for my DH to get home from work so we can go out too.

I took a little nap this afternoon.  Felt good but afterwards I always feel groggy and out of it for a while.

Since I didn't get to address all of you individually,  I'm sending out a big "HI" to all of you.

Dinner is in the oven, pumpkin pie is cooling.

Gee, GLEE, that is one of my favorite craft fairs. But, I went today. I have always gone the first day right at 11 o'clock. I love the painters there. I have bought things for my IL DD other years and I bought one painted item today. Bought some stamped things I can use for an idea for our church bake sale in Dec. DGD Robin had several Little Tykes things, too. She loved the playhouse and the circle garden with a gate and rural mailbox.

Oh, my, DEBBIE, sounds like accident lady is guilty when she tries to weasel out of the situation and then find excuses to verify her bogus thinking. I'm sure the police will figure it out. Eli will like all the nice things being lined up for his Christmas and birthday.

JAN, I think I've mentioned this before, but I still have a table lamp I bought at the PX in 1958. I think it was 3 dollars. Nice choices for you being near those bases.

SUZI, I have a fridge in the garage, too. But here nothing can be in the freezer over winter. Seeing it's cold in the garage, the freezer doesn't work normally and the fridge doesn't run as often as it should. Ours usually has beer, wine and soft drinks in it.

GRAMMY, looks like no rooms available in your "hotel" next week. But, won't it be fun visiting. Glad your app't. went smoothly.

Hoping the tests give good results for you, STYLIST. Now, you went and ate a square burger on a round bun. I had to say that, just to tease MJ. Now, that's a meal DGC love.

OK, CLEO, get all "purty" seeing you're stepping out with that handsome guy.

LILY, it warmed up nicely here, My van temp said it was 60 degrees when I was out and about. Looks like I'll have to hook up with GLEE for something else.

CJAY, enjoy supper out, tonight. Russell wanted one of his fav's, so I am making crumb coated chicken breasts in a tomato, onion, basil sauce. It's in the oven right now. Served with brown rice. Yep, he wants a peach pie, the other brothers usually bring apple and coconut cream. I guess they each have their favorites. No Biscuit, maybe your cats will be glad. LOL

Scrapping Nite at church, but not sure I will go.

    Good Evening Grannies,

Where have the past two days gone?  After reading todays posts I can hardly remember today let alone yesterday.

Yesterday the DR. put me on a water pill because I'm concerned that my BP has been higher than normal for me for the past two visits and sometimes I think I feel pressure in my head!  Well now, you know where I was most of today with the exception of the salon, furniture store and a nice date for lunch!

I too love yellow tulips.  Hoping this Sunday to get in some of the last fall gardening and perhaps some tulips and daffidils.  We do have squirrels and they love tulips!  Tonight I believe we are to get our first hard frost.  Just Suffolk County (the eastern end of the Island).

Suzi, so happy to hear of your "family" Thanksgiving plans.  This year we're going upstate to Susie's. (usually alone)  We were on the phone planning the menu.  Scott and Lisa will come Friday and we'll do our Kris Kringle thing then as we didn't have Oktoberfest this year.

Lily, what size squares do you need for the quilt top and what colors are you using?

I have to get on the ball this week! LOOOOOOOOts of sewing to do.

I'm off to have a snack as I didn't have dinner.  I just don't get hungry after going out to lunch.  DH does and he and Jake had hot roast beef sandwiches, mashed potatoes, cauliflower with cheese sauce and carrot cake. (No Jake only had the roast beef and gravy)

Check back in shortly and then I'll turn in.

Oh boy....Biscuit is here.  He sure has grown.  I think my two remember him.  Not too much noise making between them.  Biscuit is following Frisco everywhere. LOL

I'm here a bit early but DH has NASCAR on TV tonight so I came early to the Hood. I'll set up the rockers and set out the goodies I brought. I made Sweet Roll Bread Pudding in the crockpot. Practicing for Thanksgiving. I will also take a Peach Pie and a Blackberry Cobbler. Also brought coffee and hot tea to go with.

I've been sitting here playing a different, and more challenging, game of Solitaire waiting for someone to show up. Now I checked and lots of folks arriving at the door.

Liny, my quilt tops aren't planned. I cut pieces of whatever size, when I find enough of blending or matching colors. Today I cut 8 pieces 16 x 20 to make a quilt top of yellow, a brown and cream print and solid brown. I also cut a bunch of squares to match some already cut by someone else. About 4 1/2 inches.     Maybe the pressure in your head is due to all the things you are so involved with doing. Maybe just calm down and concentrate on only thing at a time.

Suzi, what is sweet roll bread pudding. I use sweet rolls if I have any leftover, along with whatever bread leftovers I stick in the freezer. Sometimes wheat, rye, pumpernickel, sweet rolls, bread rolls, etc. Just a conglomeration, but ends up tasting fine!

EVENING GRANNIES  My first time here today.  No cleaning again today.  Can you believe that one?  Two days in a row.  DH & I went to see SIL today.  Her coloring looked good, but she is far from well.  Still not eating or drinking much.  They took her meds. away, except for a patch for pain.  She wants us to bring her some ring bologna, sharp cheese & a baked bean sandwich.  Never heard of a baked bean sandwich before.

MIMIT  We all have our days of special memories.  My mom would have been 93 next week.  She has been gone for 47 years.  I'm glad we have our moments to remember.  Keeping busy really helps too.

Hi Lily, what kind of Solitare are you playing, I like to play free cell while I am waiting.

My questions exactly, what makes sweet roll bread pudding different?

    Hi ICook,

That sounds like an odd menu, I have never heard of a baked bean sandwich either.
