    Kitchenaid vs Bosch stand mixer

We're looking to get a stand mixer.  Something to make cookies on a weekly basis as well as some other baking.  Nothing in the $600 heavy duty range, but something in the $300 price range.  Can anybody give us some recommendations??   Thanks.

I have both.   If I was only going to have 1 to do what you want to do, I would get the Kitchenaid.

The Bosch is much better for making large quantities of bread at 1 time and it is nice and powerful.   But in the same token, the Kitchenaid does a fine job of making bread and you make as many loaves according to what your your mixer allows (either white or whole wheat).

I don't know if Costco has the Kitchenaid at this time of year, but they have very good buys when they do carry them.   Mine is the one with the bowl that raises and lowers and I love that model.   But someone else might prefer the model where your mixer head lifts up and your bowl is stationary.   I hope more write on here so you get more opinions.   Also I've seen this topic before, so you could check the Search box.

I have a 26 yr old Kitchen Aid I seldom use unless I am baking one cake. For bread I have a "Santos" kneading machine with a 11 qrt bowl (semi commercial).

Not lobe ago I was just looking at the Bosch website and they had a nice one with a 6 qrt bowl plus a blender attachment and it was on special. If you bought withing a certain number of days you also got a free Grain grinder (seoerate item that retails for almost $200.00). The whole thing was on special for under $400.00.

Go over o the forum "Recipes", there are a lot of bakers there. From what I have seen here over the last few years is that those who have a BIsch would not trade it for a KA or any other mixer.

Also try to Google:" Bosch mixers" and go to the manufacturer's website. You can look at all their models and pssiboly run into another special.

Kitchen Aid is no longer made by Hoibart, they sold the KA division years ago and the new mixers are no longer the same quality as they used to be.

Costco has a Kitchenaid for $269 or $279 with a great hp of 475.  That is a much stronger motor than QVC's which is 325 hp for approximately the same price.  Be sure to check the hp....that's what gives you power with heavy doughs. Sam's has the same price and can't remember what the hp is on it.

Our mederator Erik just posted a notice in another forum that he got an e-mail from Amazon: there is a special on Kitchen Aid mixers at 42% off, price is $179.00. HE did not mention what model or how much shipping is but it may be worth looking into.

I am not familiar with the Bosch mixer, but I have a Kitchenaid mixer that is 20 years old (my mothers) that she used on a daily basis as I do now.  I aboslutely love it - it does everything from mashed potatoes to bread dough to sweets.  I regularly use the attachments, particularly the grinder.  I purchased one this summer for my cousin as a wedding gift and was able to use the 20% off coupon at Bed Bath and Beyond and get a rebate.  Good luck!

I went to Amazon for the one Eric had spoke of and it was not there. They had one for $269 with free shipping and for me living in Alaska, I thought that was great! I ordered one for myself for Christmas! It should be here anytime.
