Daily Low Carb Chat Weekend Nov. 7,8

    Good morning, friends!

I hope you have great plans for the weekend!

Dolly is back on more antibiotics- but the Dr. said she's doing better- she'd had an enormous staph infection in her ears...Tongue Tied  Yesterday was the third anniversary of our adopting her..Party!!!

Good opening night last night- decent size audience- show went well, hopefully people will tell their friends..!

I'm cocooning today- staying in a getting things done! Steve has a morning meeting, then an evening retirement party for a friend...so I'll have plenty of time to fiddle around with my projects...

I am laughing because Dr. Oz had someone on the other day who is a hoarder...Indifferent...lives in terrible clutter/mess/can't even move  kind of house...this is more common with men than with women...surprised me- anyway, he was talking about signs of becoming a hoarder, and I immediately went to my DVR and cancelled all of my scheduled recordings of QVC and HSN...knowing darn well there isn't one other thing I need to bring into this house- I have way too much ( all good stuff, mind you..Wink ) but if I don't see it, I can't/won't buy it!  YAY!

Right now I have stacks of magazines to recycle, and a bunch of recipes to go through that I've copied...I do have some binders, so I may attempt to organize them ( but probably not..Embarrassed )

I will find something to post later for you...and I'll make Carol's chocolate pudding with ricotta today...

    Have a great day, friends!

Renate- sorry about the mixup with the TV thing...

    See you later...

    Margaret

    Morning,

It's 23 and I need to make some coffee!

The parade was wonderful yesterday. It was crazy in there, everyone having a blast.

Hope Dolly's ears heal soon. Rip gets ear infections but not as many as our other Lab got. Our first Lab LOVED the water and when he could smell it he wanted to be in itSmile

Going to make some coffee and will try to get back later.

Linny, hope you are feeling better and Dava hope your kitty came home.

    Linda

Margaret, when you wrote about Dr. Oz, I thought you meant you went straight to the DVR to cancel out all the scheduled recordings of the "Dr.Oz Show", lol.   Don't we all have enough recipes now to choke a horse though??  Dang, I have recipes and cookbooks from my father the baker when he went to baking school in Germany in the 1920's, for heaven's sakes!!   And now, with dh being diabetic, can't really make any of those things in good conscious anymore anyway.   We are doing well just to do portion control as it is............          It is interesting to know men do more "saving" than women.   When you think about what goes in garages and sheds, it does make sense though.

Janie, I understand what you mean about the blessings of some showers, at least you get that.  Is water expensive, (I imagine it would be), and how often do you get a "delivery" ?   When we visited the Grand Canyon, the town near there where we stayed, the people had to have water deliveries made just like newspapers, you subscribed to it in fact.

I'm wondering as to how Linny feels, if she had to go to rehab already or will wait until tomorrow?   And Dava, and her kitty too, wondering if they found the kitty or what happened?

I had to get a new computer yesterday, but our son can't install it till next Saturday.  Had to drive down 2 hrs. to the "big" city (Chico) to Wal Mart, they didn't have the one I wanted, wouldn't get it till who knows when, so went to Costco.  They only had one for over $600, and I wasn't gonna pay that much, so wound up at the hated Best Buy, and did finally get one.   Had to search for a salesclerk, and then had to struggle to figure out the price, then they try to sell you that warranty and on and on, I kept saying "NO", just want the danged computer!!   lol    We had lunch at a place near the university, sandwich shop, had a veggie sandwich.   Lots of people walking around with pink and blue and lavender hair, old hippies, and so on, we are not used to a city anymore folks.   Were glad to get back home up here in the mountains.

Waving at all of you, wishing you well!!!

    Hi-

I got a disturbing note from Linny's daughter- there was a setback, and Linny ended up in ICU...but will be returned to her regular room probably tomorrow....so keep those good thoughts coming!

Linda- glad the celebration went well...what a thrill! Thanks for the good Dolly wishes!

Janie- I would think you'd have a lot of water on your island...my geography may be off...Tongue Tied

Doris- I'd send you and Janie some of our water if I could...we actually have wonderful tasting tap water

Long day...busy plans for tomorrow, but for now I'll say g'night...

Oh my what a shame ~  Poor Linny, my thoughts are with you sweetie.  Right Hug  Get well real soon, prayers and blessing sent you way ~

Gm ~ Coffee  Yep we have plenty of blue/gree ocean water but there is way to much rock.  Last year we had 3 deliveries in a period of 6 months.  We have a huge cistern  built under our  living room  floor and another huge one in the spare bedroom.  They are very deep almost as long if not longer then most living rooms and I am guessing perhaps 12'deep ~

A huge slab covers the opening, usually its the same size and color as the stone flooring, or tile flooring that most of the homes have here. That way it blends right in.  This is very comon in many of the islands~

We just had ours, power washed and re painted last year as a small crack was detected.  Its an interesting process.  Water from one tank is emptied into the spare one till the first one has been repaired. The tops of all of the houses have  many open,  pipes in whch to catch the rain water, in. It then runds down gutters that has another pipe that allows it to empty into the tanks below .  Kind of like a basement ~ So no rain, no water ~  There are several water plants on the island.

Dava, hope your Kitty is safely back home ~  Hi Dolly ~  Dog

Wishing everyone a great day ~  Janie

Good morning- huummm-that coffee looks good! Coffee !

I hope Linny had a good evening- I know she and family will be so happy to have her up, healed and back to better than normal!

Off to an Antique Fair today- not, I'm NOT an exhibit- and then to the theater for the afternoon- I'll be the official board person on duty...House Manager- sounds fancy, eh?

Throwing some steaks on the grill, and trying our wonderful new dessert- made with cream cheese, sour cream and DaVinci English Toffee syrup...oh, boy! I will toast some pecans later for the topping...yum!

Doris- I had to laugh when you thought I was erasing Dr. Oz...perhaps I should...he does say a lot of scary things...Tongue Tied

Hope all is well with the rest of you- even if we don't see you today!

    I'll pop in later...have a great day!

    Morning,

Sorry to read about Linny's set back. Sending out prayers that she's up and about soon.

Margaret, how's Dolly's ears? How's you weather up there? Is in the upper 50's right night and we might get into the 60's! The ocean keeps us cooler, which is a nice advantage to have in the summer.

Janie, I found  series of books you might like. Very light mysteries and it as a Golden in them named Tara.  The books are by David Rosenfelt. So far I've read Play Dead, Open and Shut. It's a series, I started the last one first and working my way backwards. check it out on Amazon and see if it stirs your attention.

Doris, what kind of computer did you get? Are you going to use the new Windows 7?

Have a nice Sunday everyone and sure hope Dava's kitty came home.

Good morning, Linda- we're set for a nice couple of warmish days...yay!

Dolly made out well on Friday- but has another 4 weeks of Cephalexin to take to knock out her serious infection. She got another treatment, so we'll see how long it gives her some relief. We used to be able to use Otomax and do our pup's ears, but this is another thing entirely...say hi to Rip for us! Wink Dog I do think I should invent a hat that holds dogs' ears away from their head a bit...almost like sideways ponytail openings that you find in some baseball caps...anyone want in?

Janie- if I see anything good, I'll buy it for you! Yes  I am always amazed that on Antique Roadshow they have such low prices on some stuff...they'll say- it's from 1740, and it's worth about $400...well, I'd pay $400 just to have something that old...

OK...second cup of coffee time...see you later!

Re: Daily Low Carb Chat Weekend Nov. 7,8

Hello, ladies.I am sorry I mostly talk about myself at the moment, since I don't have much time. The party went great last night and all the friends loved the food and I gave much of it away afterwards, since people wanted to have some to take home.To tell you the truth,I would have liked to keep some for myself,I had put so much work into it and would not have had to cook for three days.============My DH came down with Laryngitis last night and he feels terible and he is in bed. I had to find somebody to go with me to the cook-off tonight. I found an old friend.I went with her to some cooking classes a long time ago.I also had to cancel the brunch this morning with our friends from Denver. We wanted to go to the Missouri History Museum. It is so nice there and you overlook Forest Park. His getting sick could not have come at a worse time.My DD is flying in Thursday.=======================Margaret, your hoarding story hits home here at my house. My Dh is terrible. I used to throw newspaper clippings etc away, when he was gone.Lately I don't feel like doing it,I have so many other things to do. Of course I am not without fault either. The cookbooks and recipes are taking over this house.I also will take some magazines to the doctors office or library. When we stuck in Colorado this Spring ,we only had two suit cases and a few other things and we lived perfectly happy and did not miss anything. Of course I had taken some recipes along and a cookbook and I bought a few, while I was there (from E-Bay). ==============================I hope Linny makes a speedy recovery. And Dava gets the right doctors care. I wish all of you a great Sunday.Unbelievable it is 75F here today and it was 80F yesterday. Renate Ps:Janie, thanks for the coffee,it tasted great.
