    Canadian Corner 11/07/09

    Good Morning Friends,

It's still dark out and we are in for some nice weather this weekend, up to 17C I need to finish the flower beds today.  cutting down the perennials and then we are all set for winter.

André had his shower yesterday but he was too weak to dry himself so I did it and helped him get dressed.  Also yesterday morning he sneezed the pain was horrible, just like his chest opened up.  He has to keep his pillow by his side in case he does it again, to hold it tight to his chest.

Aleida, I bet that soup was good, I never had bread pudding myself, not appealling to me.  Does Luke listen to you when you tell him to behave...LOL

Dolores, how is your mom doing?  They did take the vein from his leg, it was badly bruised the first few days, now it's fine, no more swelling.  Dolores always cooking/baking for others does anyone ever do something for you.?

Pat the same goes for you, how is your mom?   What vehicle are you both interested in? Hopefully you won't be as busy come December.

Grammapeach, how is life in sunny Georgia? Come on tell us you miss the north, the snow, wind, ice and Brutus....LOL

JP, will you ver get relief from your foot? It must be so difficult to work when you are on your feet all the time.

Char,  is Kaeli feeling better?  What about Randene and Zach? Hopefully Dan won't get sick enough so he is not able to work.  As work is scares for him during the winter months.  Did you enjoy yourself last night at the birthday party?  I do trust the Lord and place all our worries in His hands.  One day at a time....

    Have a great day ladies,

Good morning! Sun's out again, and it's going to be 21 or so. Gotta love the gorgeous fall days. Maria! Miss the sNOw and cold? Howling wind? Bad roads? Er....nooooooooooo! However, I do miss my brothers and sisters, my aunt, my DS, my friends, a lot.

I worked yesterday morning, but was able to go very early since the clients were out of town. Usually I don't go until 8:30 so that I won't be in their way while they're getting ready for school and work.

My client for next Wednesday is having some drywall work done in the house so I won't be going there again until the 24th, when they expect that the contractors will be done and gone. I sure hope that the workers clean up after themselves because drywall dust is a PITA to clean up. And the client is leaving on the 25th for our long Thanksgiving weekend, which will be nice for them because they'll come back to a nice clean house.

Gee, Pat, nice weather, a whole day out just for fun, and a new vehicle, too? Your cup runneth over! You know, you could have stayed home and made me a Christmas stocking insteadSmile

Don't know what's on today's agenda. Maybe grocery shopping with DD. Right now it's time for coffee. BBL

    Good morning,

We're in for another lovely day.  The eastern sky is starting to lighten up.  We had a dazzling starlit sky all night.  How do I know?  I saw a good piece of it cause I've been up for hours now.

DH and I plan to do some more 'buttoning up'  the house and I need to get my laundry baskets emptied again.  I hope to get some more projects assmbled for the nephew's Christmas parcels.  That will be a big project.  I wrapped the first 2 packages already.

We are trying to decide between an Escape and a Rav4.  Feature wise they are very similar and either will serve us just fine.  I find the Ford salesman a lot more personable.  The Toyota rep is far more aggressive and such a fast talker that I feel he's trying to slip somrthing past us.  I have been very pleased with the Rav I've had for the past 8 years.  That saleman is no longer there so ....  Which way to go?   Time will tell.

Mom took another fall in her apartment 10 days ago.  That has convinced her that using her cane might be wise.  She was able to read 4 lines on the chart at her last appointment so her sight is returning.  Patience is not a strong suit in  our family makeups.     She is reading and doing jigsaw puzzles with her good eye so she's much happier these days.

    Enjoy a Super Saturday.   Pat

Slept in this morning.  Just enough time to have a coffee, get myself together and head off to a couple of bazaars -- I'll be back later to respond to posts.

Morning all - it's a balmy 28 degrees (F) this morning; frost is everywhere.  Been a busy time these past few days.  Our hike along the Merrimack River was very enjoyable, but we only walked half of the trail before turning around - 1 1/2 hours.  We'll do the second half, starting at the end point and moving back in a couple of weeks, weather permitting.  Wednesday's lunch in Portsmouth was delicious - had Irish stew.  It was a little different than what I expected.  The meat and vegetables were minced in the gravy, and a dollop of whipped potatoes was in the center of the bowl.  I'd say it was more like a soup except it was definitely gravy not broth.  When I was a kid, my mother would make Irish Stew - chunked vegetables in broth so I guess there are all sorts of recipes.  I remember eating my mother's and being hungry two hours after supper because it was such a light fare!!!

I worked by myself at Esperanza because the teacher I help went to a workshop.  I was a little nervous to start mainly because I don't know all of the girls' names as some of them are so contrived, I just can't make sense of them.  Of course, I know Stephanie, Rachael, Elaine, Mary.  I have to really work at it and get them down pat.  The day went smoothly and the girls behaved.

Thanks everyone for posting such delicious recipes.  I posted my Shrimp with Warm Cole Slaw, but I guess it disappeared into cyber space.  If anyone wants me to post it again I will.

Talk to everyone later.  Have a great Saturday.

    Ann

Good morning from sunny BC.  One thing I like about where I live, though it gets cold, and we get lots of snow, we certainly have more hours of sunshine then places like Vancouver.  Nothing cheers a person up like sunshine.

Well, the birthday party was so much fun.  Great food, and I brought my signature dish as always nothing left to take home, with rave reviews, and was asked to make it for the potluck on Wed.  Once you've found a dish that people love, why mess with success??  Kids got spoiled at my parents house last night, came home with new toys, which is a real treat.  They had a tea party with brand new cups and chocolates, and some other goodies.  No wonder they would rather be there then at home!!!

OH, I can feel the pain of a sneeze, wow, it's amazing our bodies survive these sort of surgeries at all!

Dan has that horrible chest cold that is going around.  I can hear his asthma trying to rear it's ugly head, but so far, he's been okay, but I forgot, he is tearing up old carpet today, and how I hope he doesn't need his puffer!  He hasn't used it since last winter, he's been taking a health drink instead with huge success, but a chest cold, and then old dust, hmmmm.  But the girls are good to go, but Kaeli still coughs, so no chasing boys tomorrow at church Stick out tongue

Gramma, when the tree is up, the lights are on, your gonna miss the snow, it reflects the lights.  Nothing says Christmas welcome like lights reflecting into a mud puddle!!

Pat, I'm glad to hear your mom's sight is slowly improving.  Now to get her always using her cain, she certainly can't afford another fall!

Well, guess I will continue cleaning my house.  Ann's talk of stew makes me think I might take some stew out.  I have a pot of it in the freezer from last month.  Or perhaps I'll make homemade fries and burgers and have the stew for Sunday lunch.  Decisions decisions!!

Quick drop in -- I was not home much today.  Tomorrow we're off to London for the day --- Monday is church and tutoring.  I may be back either Monday evening or Tuesday -- behave yourselves -- each and every one of you

Hi Char? You still on?  What health drink are you using? Hope Dan feels better quickly and you don't get it. I'm glad the kids are feeling better. How about Zack?

I worked a long shift and now my feet are "on strike" We had leftover pizza this evening with some salad DH made yesterday.

Yes, YF, Andre should keep a pillow with him for those sneezes. I can only imagine what that must feel like.after such radical surgery.

I'm soooooo tired. It'll be early to bed tonight. It's 8:15 here...might have a soak in the tub yet before I crash.

Have a blessed Lord's Day!   JP

    Good night all.

We just returned from the Fiddler on the Roof production.  Friends had tickets for tonight that they were unable to use(illness) so DH and I went.  Thoroughly enjoyed the performance.   I have known many of the performers for many years in many roles.  A great change of pace.

    Sleep well.
