    This is too bad.

The House just passed Obamacare, no matter WHAT the people of this country want or not.  They've totally ignored what WE want and have done exactly what THEY want, especially Queen Pelosi and her crowd. Not one of the Dems took into consideration what their constituents want, and we PAY them to do our bidding, not theirs.  I say VOTE THE BUMS OUT!!  Come 2010 the're going to have to answer to US!!

Also, I watched Queen Nancy with her usual grin on her face as she gloated.

I'll be interested in what the Senate does with this.  Maybe they'll come to their senses, but I doubt it because the President has been all over this, ever since his inauguration.  He and his Queen shoved that down our throats.  Period.

Now we not only have to pay for those who "don't have insurance", i.e. illegal immigrants, but also to fund abortions, which is sick in itself.  Federal money should NOT be used to insure ANYONE who is in this country illegally, and to have the taxpayers of this country pay for abortions is totally wrong.

Anyone know how I can find out how my local Congressperson voted?  DH told him that a vote for the bill would mean our vote against him next November.

Purselamplady, I respectfully disagree with you.  I and MANY others do want Health Care for ALL.  THEY did exacatly what WE wanted for US.  And yes, the D's did take into consideration what their constituents want -- that is what WE PAY THEM for.

I believe that you are wrong here -- abortions NEVER were going to be included in the Health Care bill.

    What "we" is that???

The healthcare bill was the signature piece of Obama's campaign platform and he was elected -- obviously with a clear majority -- with that goal on the front burner. Despite the Republican's summmer of overarching distortions and the non-stop lies to scare the beejesus out of everyone, nothing they tried worked and the bill passed the House. Now you're surprised?

Really?  You've seen the unemployment figures, maybe heard about the downturn in the economy? And you know what the unchecked costs are doing to us, and that it costs American companies more to produce goods then their G8 counterparts because they have to factor in the rising cost of health insurance, making the US more uncompetitive every year and pricing us out of business. WE need this bill.

You saw Rep. Anh “Joseph” Cao (R-La.) vote makes it bi-partisan! A brave fellow, he's a New Orleans lawyer, first Vietnamese American in Congress, he has William Jefferson's old seat, and his district has a high poverty rate so this bill will help his constiuents... unlike all the other Rs who evidently come from extremely affluent districts.

    Re: This is too bad.

Maybe I should say the people who demonstrated against it, whether they were Dem or Rep.  They covered the entire spectrum of the population, elderly, middle aged, young people.  People have a right to choose what insurance they want;  not to be forced onto some government-run health care plan.

A question I have is:  I a person is working a full-time minimum wage job and their employer can't provide insurance becaue they don't have the funds to do it, how is that person going to get pay the fines that this law is going to impose?  What if they don't want this wonderful grand plan healthcare?  Oh, I know, they're supposed to go on Medicaid, but what if they don't qualify because they "make too much"?  I've already run into that when I needed to apply for food stamps when I was unemployed.  I was told "you make too much" becaue I have a paltry military retirement check.

As I understand it they either have to enroll in the plan or pay the fines or go to jail.  Now, if they don't make enough money to enroll in private insurance and don't want Obama care, why should they have to go to jail?  Isn't jail a rather harsh "punishment"?  Just because they don't want to enroll in Obama Care?

I ask again, why should the taxpayers of this country have to pay for abortions or illegal immigrants to have thier children in our non-for-profit hospitals?  (I know this becaue I was a volunteer in our not-for-profit hospital and we were always taking in these people).  Then there's the issue that since their kids are born in the US, then they have dual citizenship and can get all the bennies our system offers, but that's another  topic.

I still say send these guys packing come 2010.  They're all up for re-election and we CAN do that.  THROW THE BUMS OUT!

    Yep!!

I also would like to see the list of "Who" voted this in...

This is truely a sad day for America ~ I believe in healthcare for all Americans, but I do not believe in a total transformation of our healthcare system!

    In or Out 2010
To Congress - The 5 Pledges

    1. I believe in a balanced budget and therefore will vote for a freeze in government spending until that goal is realized.

    2. I believe government should not increase the financial burden on its citizenry during difficult economic times therefore I will oppose all tax increases until our economy has rebounded.

    3. I believe more than 4 decades of U. S. dependance on foreign oil is a travesty therefore I will support an energy plan that calls for immediately increasing usage of all domestic resources including nuclear energy, natural gas, and coal as necessary.

    4. I believe in the sovereignty and security of our country and therefore will support measures to close our borders except for designated immigration points so we will know who is entering and why and I will vehemently oppose any measure giving another country, the United Nations, or any other entity, power over the U. S. citizens.

    5. I believe the United States of America is the greatest country on earth and therefore will not apoligize for policies or actions which have served to free more and feed more people around the world than any other nation on the planet.

Um...the taxpayers do not have to fund abortions.  Try to keep up.  In your outrage over one issue today you seem to have overlooked the fact that what also passed is the bill forbidding federal dollars from funding abortions.

As far as illegals giving birth to their children in a hospital, um--that's already happening.  The idea that a hospital should be more concerned with a person's legal status than their medical status is kind of disgusting.  I admit, there's a problem here, but you make it sound like certain women should be off squatting in the reeds by the creek and taking their chances!  THAT is disgusting!

What I don't get, PLL, is that the more you rage against healthcare reform and entitlement programs, the more you admit that you have basically applied for almost every form of government subsistence program available.  What's up with that?

I don't trust anyone who needs a recipe to make tossed salad.
