    OT...new use for Preparation H

A few weeks ago, I was told that Preparation H was good for sunburn. Well I tried it and it did help. I discovered this evening that Preparation H is also good for insect bites. It really helps with the itching and swelling.

Hope other people get relief from bites!

Also a dab under the eyes reduces puffiness.

Unfortunately, thanks to the FDA, only the Canadian version of Preparation H works on puffy eyes. Our version is missing the ingredient that reduces the puffiness.

Here's another, which may be of no use to anyone ;-). I was told this by a dog groomer. When short blades are used to trim the face of, say, a white poodle, the hair follicles can become irritated and cause a red irritation. Supposedly Preparation H will prevent this if applied immediately after clipping.

Many moon ago when I was a young bride I cut and seeded a bushel of very hot peppers. About half way through my hand started to burn so bad that I could not stand the pain. I tried keeping them in ice water, rinsing them with milk, also vinegar. I put everything I could think of on these hands. I called the emergency room and the poison center. They both told me to wear plastic gloves the next time, Duh! And that I would just have to put up with the pain.

Frantically looking though the medicine cabinet and trying everything in there, I used the Preparation H. It stopped the pain almost immediately. It only worked for 20 minutes and then I had to apply more, but the point is it worked.

When I was young and naive, I always got fever blisters on my lips. My neighbor brought over some cream in a plain silver tube. It worked miracles on my lips and when I would run out, he would always have more. I never had any idea what it was or why the label was always missing, but as I said, I was young and naive.

Many years later, he told me that it was preparation H, but he didn't tell me earlier because he didn't think I would have put it on my lips. He was right.

I've never tried this, but I heard to use it on pimples.
