    ? Grill Basket

Stupid question......How do these work! I marinated my cut up vegetables in some oil and spices and put them in the basket on the grill and the oil, etc kept dripping down and causing flare-ups. What am I doing wrong? People say they are the greatest thing.....not so sure. Any ideas?

maybe you need to let the veggies settle on some paper towels before you put it in the basket to soak up some extra oil first.

Your food shouldn't be dripping wet when you put it in the grill basket. It wouldn't matter whether you used the grill basket or not, dripping food causes flare ups. I have long skinny baskets to use instead of skewers.

That is the way it is supposed to work,,The flames flareing up sears the vegetables just as meat,,,The Grill basket is to keep the vegetables from falling into the grill...IF you don't care for the flareing,,, Season the vegetables After cooking...or drain the vegetables before putting in the basket.

Only a small amount of marinade is necessary. So lighten up on that, try to marinade in a plastic bag so you can dump out the veggies with holding the juices. Save it as sometimes you might need to add a small amount of liquid while cooking.
