Crockpot oatmeal (overnight)

Has anyone ever made oatmeal in the crockpot, so that it cooks overnight?
I've seen several recipes and I'm wondering if it really works, or does the oatmeal come out all gummy.
I would think that waking up on Saturday morning to the smell of breakfast would be quite pleasant! :)

I have a recipe that is over-night, has apples and you use the steel cut oats. I've never tried it becuase I'm afraid it won't turn out right or dry out. But the concept sure sounds easy and good.

That's similar to the recipe I'm considering, but I'm wondering about milk in the crockpot for 7 hours.
All the recipes I've ever seen that involve any dairy products in the crockpot say to add the dairy at the VERY end so that it won't curdle.

I hope someone has made this and will respond. It sounds so good and I love oatmeal!
MammaDuck, I'm wondering if that is primarily for sauces and gravies? Maybe the milk would be okay since the oatmeal absorbs most of it?

People on the Weight Watchers message boards always talk about using milk in the crockpot oatmeal. They do either the steel cut oats or the quick cooking oats. I have even seen recipes that they added apples or peaches and they rave about it.
Seems like the milk would be no problem.
