    Nesco Slow Cooker

Has anyone had a problem with the 3.5 slow cooker? I bought mine in January...it is blue and white. It burns the food on the low setting and even on warm the liquid boils. The ceramic dish is full of cracks. I wrote the company and they said the ceramic does crack and if I would send back the outer heating bowl where the heating unit is located, they would either replace it or repair it. Instead of spending the money to sent it back, I am going to buy a new Rival. My old 20 year old Rival ceramic bowl never cracked.Anyone else with this problem?

Hi....gosh I just got mine recently....but haven't used it yet. I sure hope I don't have a problem with it. I did notice that the crock is very heavy...compared to the other one I have...figured that was a good thing and that it would conduct the heat better. The cooking temps. that are listed in the instruction manuel are lower than most crockpots...again I thought good thing..now my recipes won't boil/burn.
Guess I better make something in it to see if works okay.":)

I've used mine a LOT since I've gotten it and it's yet to burn anything yet and that's even on HIGH! I would say that yours is defective or something because I've never had any of those problems with mine and I use it at LEAST twice a week for something or other. I would almost bet that the one that you got was possibly a "return" or something that never got marked as being defective and was accidentally put back on the shelf. I know that this is the best crockpot that I've ever had, hands down.

O.T. -- I have 3 Nesco Roasters, and didn't know they have a slow cooker (Nesco is not well distributed in Canada), but I do get to cross the border on occasion, and would like to know the cost of this slow cooker.

I would return the cooker to them, they were extremely helpful to me when I requested information regarding one of my units.

It must be slightly different than the one I bought in recent months. Right after Mrs. Gehrke got hers, I ordered one. Only used it once or twice, but with no problem. There's no blue, all white with this unit.

I got one after Paulette told us about them, got one for my BIL and one for my granddaughter and they are all just fine. Mine is all white, no blue, so don't think it's the same one. The price on these was $14.95 with $5 s/h. I love mine!!

Mine's a 2.5 quart, all white (Pegg, I'll bet we have the same model) and I LOVE it. It cooks evenly and not too hot - no cracks either, thank goodness! I noticed in reading the instruction booklet that they advised against sudden temperature changes, eg. not putting real cold ingredients in the crock and then turning it on, not putting a hot crock into cold water, etc., so I've been trying to be careful about that. I agree, sounds like you got a lemon! :(

Molly, if it was me I would pack the whole thing up and send it back, cheapest way possible and request the all white one the others have. From what others post on here even the new Rivals cook really hot.

Heidi, you can order online from them at www.nesco.com. I got 5 roasters from them and even with shipping and the exchange it was a good price.

3dogmom - I just talked to my BIL who said he cooked a brisket in his and it worked fine and he's really happy with it - Can't figure out just what I want to put in mine today but will put in something and hopefully it'll turn out fine, as usual!

Will see what I have to toss in there today.

Hi....a friend of mine tried to order one a couple of weeks ago, and they told her they were all sold out. Mine is black (base)) with a white crock. They use to come in white, red, blue or black.

I was just to their site and it looks like they no longer make the 4 qt. roaster or any slow cookers. I would sure fire the whole thing back at them and see what they do. Surely the shipping would be cheaper than buying a new one????

IMO, I'd send it back and let them make it right, esp since they don't have new ones for sale. If you look in the search at all the previous threads about how people are unhappy with Rival, don't think you would want one. There are also some other brands that work well. Best of luck.

I've had mine for over a year and love it...I keep it in the motorhome and use it all the time as we're rollin' down the road. I haven't had trouble with the crock cracking or food burning. The best part is it's easy to clean. MTgal
