Re: Eating Well between the years... Quick, Easy and Leftover Recipes ... Countdown till 2008

Okay Erna I see the problem. I posted by copying a recipe that the ingredients and everything were in their own lines and it looked right but when I clicked on "post" it came out all bunched together. I'll see if I can figure out how to correct it. TWICE-COOKED MASHED POTATOES 1/2 cup chopped onion 1/2 cup chopped green pepper 1 tbsp vegetable oil 4 cups mashed potatoes (prepared with milk and butter) 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, divided 1/4 cup crumbled cooked bacon 1 tsp salt 1/2 tsp pepper In a small skillet, saute onion and green pepper in oil until tender. In a large bowl, combine the onion mixture, mashed potatoes, 1/2 cup cheese, bacon, salt and pepper. Spoon into a greased 2-qt baking dish. Sprinkle with remaining cheese. Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 20-25 minutes or until cheese is melted. Now we will see if this works. Marlene Yield: 6 servings

Hi Erna I can see your frustration. I tried to space the recipe and ended up with the same bunched together mess. I'll see if I can come up with a solution but it might take some time. If not my son will be home very late on Thursday and he should know how to solve it as his pay cheque comes from this sort of thing. I will give the recipe one more try on this post. Marlene, so nice to see you on the bb. I'm sure we all miss you and would ike to have you back.

It was Renate who has problems with posting. She has the Mac and could use your help. She will be leaving on Wendsday for Colorado.

You like the new bb? I'm still trying to get used to it, but just keep on trying.

    Bis spaeter

    Erna

Marlene, I copied your recipe and when I filed in my folder I seperated it and had no problem doing it.

Renate is the one who has all the problem with scrambling and who knows what else. Maybe you can help her.

Thank you for your christmas card and the recipe.

Marlene, you made me do something I have not done before. I posted the first part of the reply and than edit it with the second part. It worked. I feel like a very smart cookie right now.

Are you on school vaction now? and how are you doing with it. I envy you on taking those classes.

Marlene, thanks for coming to the rescue. I am the one having all the problems. When I paste a recipe,it shows up OK ,so soon after I post it, it goes all together . One of the nice new ladies,I will look ,who it was, told me to double click, before I post a recipe.but it does not let me double click,it tells me,that Reiman does not allow to double post. Also the picture in my postings, got there by mistake and I can not change it. First I had the smiling or other faces at the end of this page, but they have vanished. Now I had figured out,it must be the Mac. I am leaving a few days later, since my DH has the flu. I wonder, when I will be in Colorado and wil use my DS computer,if things will change. I only thought, since you have the same Mac computer,as I have, if you encounter the same problems.? Renate

Okay, here is what I did. I copied the recipe into my Word Pad. It came out in a square block which means where ever you copied it from it was specially formatted. So, I deleted it and started with a fresh document, hit "Edit" and then went to "Unformatted Text" and clicked on that. After that I put in spaces between the ingredients and instructions and posted it here. It worked. I stumbled across this trick when I read a post a long time ago on Recipes. Wasn't sure how it would work but soon discovered that it worked like a charm on recipes you copied from other sources that came out in block or different form than you want.

Texas, how can you bump up an old post ??? I can look at all the recipe, which are posted, but there is not a place, where you can put your name in or the name of the recipe you are loking for and bump it up,as I used to do. The only place is on top and it only brings up TOH recipes, not our own. ============================================Also, what does taps mean? I clicked on it and it says, they are all used by Julie. Marlene, this is,what Picasso told be ,but those icons are not here on my computer screen.============= These are Picasso's words: Paragraphs - when you press the Enter key it appears that you have a nice space between paragraphs, but when you post everying runs together. The trick is to push the Enter key twice.========= Posting recipes - The button I referred to is not on your keyboard, but is part of the reply screen. It is actually one of the icons. After you choose to reply to a message and the screen comes up, directly above the section where you type in your response there is a strip of icons - the first one is a B then I then U. The icon I use to paste recipes is the 3rd one from the right.================= The strip of icons don't appear, after a press reply. Renate

Re: Eating Well between the years... Quick, Easy and Leftover Recipes ... Countdown till 2008

Goodnight Renate. I'm heading that way too soon. But while it's fresh on my mind I'll try to explain how to find posted recipes and posts under nicknames. They are 2 different processes and take a while to learn.

For recipes go to the Recipes forum. Put in the name of the recipe in the search box. Click on Community and then scroll down to the very last recipe and beneath that post it says, "More options". Click on that. Then to to "Date filter" and click on it. Choose the length of time going back  from all to one year or to various weeks and days time period. Click on your choice of time periods. Go back to the name of the recipe on the top and hit search.

I'll post the nickname search tomorrow when I'm not so sleepy. I know it's confusing and it will take lots of practice and lots of notes to write down on what works and what doesn't. The old BB was so much easier to work. Sigh. Have a good nights sleep.

Hello Twinkle. I hope I explain this stuff so folks can understand. I try to go step by step. You are welcome for the soup recipe.

Marlene, I hope this helps you too with unscrambling those posts that need to be edited so they are unformatted. Otherwise you'll never be able to post them here to they are easy to read. Welcome back to the land of the confused.

    Turkey Fried Rice

    by moderndaygourmet .

A great leftover recipe. I plan to try this with other leftover meat like chicken and pork as well. If you want to crank up the heat you can add another teaspoon of the chili garlic sauce. Also, we like our fried rice with egg in it, so I added a couple of eggs. Next time I will probably add 4 or so; 2 eggs isn’t much since this recipe makes a lot.

    1/3 cup low-sodium soy sauce,
    2 tablespoons Turkey Stock,
    1 tablespoon rice vinegar,
    2 teaspoons dark sesame oil,
1 teaspoon chili garlic sauce (such as Lee Kum Kee),
    1/2 teaspoon salt,
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper,
    5 teaspoons canola oil,
    2 cups shredded green cabbage,
    1 cup sliced green onions,
1 1/2 teaspoons minced peeled fresh ginger,
5 cups cooked long-grain rice, chilled,
4 cups chopped cooked turkey (light and dark meat),
2 cups leftover green peas or frozen peas, thawed,
1 cup leftover carrots or frozen carrots, thawed,
1/3 cup chopped fresh cilantro (optional)

    Preparation
Combine the first 7 ingredients in a small bowl, stirring with a whisk until well blended.
Heat oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add cabbage, onions, and ginger to pan; sauté 3 minutes or until tender. Add rice, turkey, peas, and carrots; sauté 3 minutes or until thoroughly heated. Stir in soy mixture; cook 2 minutes. Remove from heat; stir in cilantro.
