    Help_ question re cooking ribs

This is my first time on the new website, I hope I can still request help. I received the Feb 2008 Simple and Delicious magazine and I saw some slow-cooked ribs that sounded really good. I went to the grocery store and picked up country style ribs but they have bones and the recipe calls for boneless. Can I still use them for this recipe or will they just not cook in the slow cooker? The recipe call for cooking the ribs on low for 6-7 hours. I was hoping this could be tomorrows dinner, so I really hope to hear back from someone, please!! Awal

The bone-in ribs will cook great in the crockpot!

    Slow-Cooked Ribs
    From Simple & Delicious

4 pounds boneless country-style pork ribs
    1 cup barbecue sauce
    1 cup Catalina salad dressing
    1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
    2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
    1/4 cup cold water

Cut ribs into serving-size pieces. Place in a 5-qt. slow cooker. Combine barbecue sauce and salad dressing; pour over ribs. Sprinkle with garlic. Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours or until meat is tender.
Remove ribs and keep warm. Strain cooking liquid into a small saucepan; skim fat. Combine flour and water until smooth; stir into cooking liquid. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Spoon sauce over ribs.  Yield: 8 servings.

Thanks for posting the recipe NeeNee.

Funny, I just mentioned to someone that I like to add Catalina salad dressing to some sauces like BBQ and here it is!

    ABSOLUTELY THE BEST RIBS EVER!

This isn't for a crock pot...But these are the easiest, best ribs ever...and no mess because of the water in the bottom of the roaster, and the tin foil covering...Wish I knew about this recipe years ago.

Definitely pork ribs! And baby back are the best! Here's a popular recipe. on this BB....

Don't forget to remove the membrane first!

    ABSOLUTELY THE BEST RIBS EVER!

Take a broiler pan and fill the bottom section of the broiler pan with water about half full.
On the top section(the part with the slits in it) lay out your ribs.
You may add a rub or sauce at this time or leave them plain.

Cover the pan with foil and fold edges under to seal in the steam as they cook.
Place in oven at 300 degrees for 2 1/2 to 3 hours.

Remove foil carefully as steam will be very hot.
Now all the grease is down in the bottom pan with the water and the ribs are completely cooked and tender.
All you need to do is finish them up on the grill or under the broiler with sauce.

For grill: place ribs on grill and coat with favorite bbq sauce. Grill on each side just a few minutes until crispy.

For broiler: add bbq sauce and broil for a few minutes on each side. Watch closely because sugar in the bbq sauce will burn quickly.

Re: Help_ question re cooking ribs

Thanks for all the great advice!!

I thought I would let you know, I cooked the (slow cooker) ribs tonight and they were excellent!  Even my very picky DS ate 3 servings. I will definitely make them again. I cooked them for 12 hours and the were very well done.
