    Depo's Cola Roast......A KEEPER!!

Tried this tonight and everyone said it was a keeper....Has a little bite to it....but really good...Made the mash potatoes also. Gravy was good on it....DH thought I was making meat loaf...I'm not into spicy....but this wasn't that spicy...Even my 1 year old GS ate the gravy on the potatoes and kept coming back for more....Surely will make this again...  I have a recipe for Cola Meatballs that is also great...All the grandkids love to make the meatballs, and eat it....
     Depo's Cola Roast:

(I double the sauce, because it makes a great gravy!!!)
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    1/2 tsp. garlic powder
    3-3 1/2 lb. roast
    3 Tbsp. oil

1/4 cup Coca Cola..................    (used 1/2 cup)
12 oz. bottle chili sauce............  .(used 2 bottles)
    2 Tbsp. worcestershire sauce......(used 4 Tbl.)
    2 Tbsp. hot pepper sauce............(used 4 Tbl.)

Mix the Coca Cola, chili sauce, worcestershire sauce and hot pepper sauce.Set aside.Rub the roast with the salt, pepper and garlic powder.Heat the oil in a roasting pan, then sear the roast on all sides.Pour the Cola sauce mix over the roast.Cover and bake in a 325F oven for 2 1/2-3 hrs.
P.S.I ALWAYS serve mashed potatoes with this recipe so we can ladle some of the gravy over them.
    Depo!!! ..........................................................................................................................................
Here is a tip from someone else that used a crock pot with this receipe:
Depo's instruction were to put the roast in for 2 1/2 to 3 hours.
I did mine in the crockpot- 6 hours on high- it was so good!..................................................................................................
     MY TIP:

When I made it , I did double the great sauce....Also, I put,  cut  carrots, onions and cut up potatoes in right away, with the sauce poured over all.....Made a fantastic one pot meal....NO...leftovers.....

    Mr. Foods Cola Meatballs

    Cola Meatballs

    about 4 dozen

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    1 pound ground beef
    1/2 cup seasoned bread crumbs
    1 egg
    1 tablespoon water
1 small onion, finely chopped, divided
    1/2 teaspoon salt, divided
    1/2 teaspoon black pepper, divided
    1 garlic clove, minced
    1 cup ketchup
    1 cup cola
    1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 medium-sized green bell pepper, finely chopped

Preheat the oven to 325°F. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, water, half of the onion, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper; mix well. Form into 1-inch meatballs and place in a 9" x 13" baking dish.
In a medium bowl, combine the remaining ingredients, including the remaining onion, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper; mix well, then pour over the meatballs.
Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, or until the sauce is bubbling and the meatballs are cooked through.

These are sooooo good, even the grandkids like making them and eating them..Has green peppers , but you don't even notice them...What a good sauce.

Re: Is that a Pot Roast?

I used a  deeper covered corningware larger casserole, like a 4 quart......You could use a roaster with tin foil , or a Dutch oven also....Something with deeper sides because of the gravy/juices....

We do have leftovers, and they won't go to waste...Saw reviews for this lots of times before...finally got to try it...

Had Depo's Cola Pot Roast again last night...Everyone loves this...Even a 5 year old..

Like some other posts stated, I would double the sauce, because it does make a great gravy!!!

zakons, I agree~it's a keeper. I made it last week as it goes over well here, too.

Love this recipe. One of my favorties (and I am not a big beef eater!).  I always double the sauce and I love the cooked potatoes, onions, carrots and mushrooms baked along with it.
