    Dog [&] Critter Chat...2-19-08

    Winters back with a vegence

    I forgot this bird yesterday

I seem to be sleeping in a lot these days. And Dozie and Kozi just snuggle down with me til I move. Like me they are just waiting for Spring and summer when we can complain about it being to hot...

Grab a cup of something and get confortable. The door is open.

It's very hard to get up when our furbabies keep us toasty warm, huh?  The sun is shining here but it is cold, bbrr!  Libby slept at the bottom of our bed and kept our feet warm last night.  Her and Libby have now traded places and Sammie is settled in on the bed for the day.

I am going to the office for a bit but couldn't leave til you unlocked the chat door! lol

Hi to all, I'll be back.

Here is Chewie the Miniature Australian Shepherd (I didn't know they came in that size!)...

We had baby chicks one time and our terrier mix would try to get in the box with them. She did a couple of time but she wouldn't hurt them, she just tried to mother them. I saw a ground hog in our back yard on Sunday.  So maybe Spring isn't too far away.  I'll be complaining about the heat too.  My cousin is moving to the Netherlands next week and she was telling me how their temperature is around 70 all the time and she was going to miss the heat and humidity.  I told her she was crazy!

What a picture that would have been!  Do you still have your terrier mix?  Tell us more and share a picture if you can.

70 degrees, only a faint memory right now...*sigh*

That would have been a picture to have.  She tried to mother the ducks and the goats when they were babies. We still have her, she is 12.  She thinks she a big dog and isn't afraid of anything. Unless of course a fly gets too close to her. LOL! She has to sleep with us every night.  She tucks up behing dh's knees.  He complains all the time about her doing that but never does anything about it. I have pictures of her I just haven't figured out how to get them on here from photobucket and how to resize them so they don't take up the whole screen.

I was typing when you told us more about your dog.  I love those little guys who think their great danes..lol

In photobucket if you look above where you upload pictures you will see a very small "options" button.  When you click on it then click on the one that says 320x240 then save all your pictures will come out the right size for here when you upload them.  Once I knew that I even went back and deleted some of my pictures and reloaded them.

Come back and make us a habit...we love critters lovers here to

We don't have a feathered friends anymore.  The local fox got them and I refuse to feed him anymore!  We had to get rid of our goats, Gretchen and Spinelli.  If you weren't a member of our herd, Spinelli would butt you.  She was always going after our neighbors' grandkids.  I broke my heart to see them go.  We would like them on leashes.  They loved to climb trees.  I had never been around goats so I learned a lot.  They are pretty smart.  Spinelli figured out that if she rolled the log close enough to the fence, she could jump over it.  I'll try again to post pictures.  I haven't gotten the hang of it yet.

Scrappy lives up to her name.  We almost lost her last year.  She had a uterine infection but we didn't know it.  She was on antibiotics and I was handfeeding her with a syringe several times a day.  She had to have a hysterectomy.  She lost her eye sight from the infection. It came back after the infection cleared and after a month or so, you would have never guessed that she was that sick.  We also have a black cat named Prissy who loves water.  She gets into the bath tub to get her drink of water.  Dh will turn it on for her.

     Good morning Critter Chatters!

Just stopping by for a second while I'm taking a break.  I know what y'all mean about the furbabies keeping you warm and toasty.  It's so hard to get out of bed in the morning when Sami decides she's sleeping with us.  She knows just where to lay to keep us both toasty!

I really don't know what's gotten into her the last couple of weeks.  We were out of town for a week in November and when we got back, she slept with us every night.  For the last 2 weeks she's decided she's going back to the futon in the guest room.  She's back to being Miss Independent. I miss her in the bed with me at night.  Well, most nights  LOL!  She likes to push her momma outta bed sometimes!

    Good morning!

AF, that cartoon is definately ME in the morning.

Kozy, sounds like you chose appropriate names for the dogs.  Kozi & Dozie being all cozy and dozing with you!  Rudy and Juicy would love to sleep with us but DH has this stoopid rule...no animals in the bed (but when he's away, what he doesn't know won't hurt him...lol)

Last night I read all of yesterdays Chitter Chat so to start with, I will add my comments, written early this morning....

Kozy, I loved all your pics yesterday. The parakeets looked SO real!

Comments on yesterday's thread (which was 'for the birds' ...lol) Dianne, I've never heard of senegals, gouldians, green singers or waxbills. I would love to see some pictures. Do they talk as well as sing?

AngelFood and Alby, I also have a perfect world in my head. Mine would be set on the shores of a lake with crashing waves. I'd have a house with a large FENCED IN yard and several dog houses under trees to accommodate my many dogs when they're outside. The house could be small as long as it had a room or two for my cats to retreat when my dogs were being overly rambunctious. A sunroom facing west is a must, along with the wing for my live in maid, chauffeur, gardener and personal genie!! LOL....

Dmax, I used to have 5 birdfeeders hanging at the end of our deck. It was practically an aviary with a covered roof, evergreen branches for cover and suet feeders. I could have dozens of birds at any given time. I had to more-or-less give it up when my work schedule changed from afternoons to days. No one was home to fill the feeders, no one to watch the birds and the price of seed had to be 'scratched' from the budget. Now that I am back on afternoons I dearly miss watching them. In the summer, I hang my indoor plants outside, under the covered roof so all was not lost.

Lagar, I got 27 of the cows in the dog herding game. That was fun! I guess I'm a watch dog. The picture of the kid smooching the snout was adorable! And the story about Nubbs was heart warming. I love stories like this with happy endings! At the very end I was confused about who Brian was...Nubbs foster parent in the states?

Luvadash, you're sig is beautiful. Love the way it sparkles!

AF,your funnies were hilarious. How did your middle DS do on the dog game? Probably nailed them all...kids are good at that!

Hey EKG, I hope you don't mind sharing your screen name with an electrocardiogram! It is easier and after all, I'm BD, and AngelFood is AF. I think of it as an affectionate nickname!

AF, thanks for the late night bye-bye.

I'm going to get my tea and will be back later.  Waving to everyone and Jangrif...welcome aboard!

Morning everyone.  Had to take Angel for her "spa" treatment this morning.  Roads are just awful but she got there.

     AF you have a PM.

Trying to stay warm and miss my furbaby already as she's my lapdog and shadow and I have neither at the moment.

    Morning Critter Chat friends.

BlueDenim I have Kozy to thank for the siggy. I love it!

when I was a kid growing up my Dad bought a couple goats! I had so much fun with them. I think I had more fun then they did. I use to put a rope around there neck and take them for walks. then I would straddle there backs and walk with them between my legs so I could pretent they were horses. Poor goats lol. but they got use to me. hopefully I didn't annoy them to much. but they loved the walks cause then they could eat all kinds of weeds and stuff. very fond memories of that. have a good day all.
