    childhood peanut butter squares...any recipes?

when I was in elementary (now 39) the cafeteria would sometimes gives in an individual square in our tray a peanut butter square....it was delicious I would trade it with my friends , give up my fruit or something for these. They weren't baked as in bread...probably whipped up with some ingredients then refrigerated...not sure. Then cut into compact squares...I'm thinking . Would anybody know how to make these? Thanks in advance.

Did they have a graham cracker crust? What was the texture like?

A cook from one of our local schools scaled down this recipe for me several years ago.  Every year for my youngest son's birthday, he requests Peanut Butter Squares instead of the usual birthday cake.

    PEANUT BUTTER SQUARES

    16 oz peanut butter

    1/4 cup honey

    1/2 cup powdered milk

    1/2 cup powdered sugar

Line a 9" square cake pan with foil, over lapping sides.  Spray bottom of foiled pan with cooking spray.  Set pan aside.

Mix peanut butter, honey, powdered milk and powdered sugar together until well blended.  Pour into cake pan and flatten until evenly spread in pan.  Refrigerate at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.

Remove peanut butter mixture from pan by lifting by the foil ends.  Sprinkle top with additional powdered sugar.  Cut into squares.  Store in refrigerator with wax paper between layers.

    Peanut Butter Squares

    Melt 2 squares butter

Add 1-1/2 cup crushed graham crackers

           1 cup peanut butter

            2-1/2 cup icing sugar

    Press in 9" X 11" pan & chill.

Melt 1 pkg. chocolate chips & spread

over peanut butter mixture. Store in fridge.

These are delicious. Tastes like fudge.

    Enjoy !
